Re: General TV Show Discussion
I second Trips The Good Place recommendation. It's very rare we get a comedy this smart and funny

My neighbors recommended it as well. Will add it to my extremely long list!

I thought The End of the F***ing World on Netflix was great. A dark comedy about a couple teens on a road trip basically. It really goes some places (figuratively) by the end. They really do a excellent job in regard to character growth for the leads during such a short series. It is only eight 20-minute episodes. Extremely well-paced. Great music too.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
I really enjoyed the first episode of that new show Barry on HBO. It has Bill Hader as a depressed hitman who ends up taking acting classes.

Arrested Development just released a new edit of season 4 so it's more like a regular season and they did a really good job. A lot of the twists that worked in the format are still here, but it's paced a lot better. I still like the original season 4, but prefer this. Still not enough of all the Bluths together though.

First season of Karate Kid-spinoff Cobra Kai (on Youtube Red) is way better than you'd think. Holy shit. Bring on that second season.

Anyone else watch Arrested Development season 5? I thought it was good, but not quite great. The season finale had a hilarious ending but also gave me a sense of "That's it?"

Re: General TV Show Discussion
Well not sure if you are aware, but Netflix is now releasing some of its shows in halves. So those eight episodes were only half of S5 of AD. They are going to release the second half later this year. I have only watched one episode so far so I don’t know where it leaves you, but that might explain your “That’s it” feeling.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
Ah, I was not aware of that, good to hear. Thought they'd leave us on another cliffhanger and not learned their lesson.

Anyone else watching the new season of Westworld? I'm finding it very, very underwhelming.
But you guys know me, I'm miserable!

Re: General TV Show Discussion
I haven't watched Season 2 yet, but I was already underwhelmed by Season 1. It always felt like the show was designed more to be a mystery/puzzle to be solved than great television.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
Well having finished Season 2, I confirm your suspicions.
The frustrating part to me is that some of the plot points here are clever but they didn't need a series to do. It could have easily been done as a movie. There was just a lot of weird storytelling choices and a LOT of filler.
EDIT: It probably doesn't help that I'm concurrently re-watching The Sopranos which after all these years still holds up as a masterpiece.

Been watching AP Bio and I think it's hilarious but your milage will vary depending on how much you like Dennis from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Same actor and character basically, but just making him a teacher is enough to give the show its own flavor. Patton Oswalt is a lot of fun too.
