"The Americans" TV Show Discussion
I still haven't watched the fourth episode yet, but I figured we could try this out giving a show its own thread so we can go ahead with spoilers without worrying about others. So you can discuss anything that has currently aired. Once I catch back up I'll jump back in here.
Re: "The Americans" TV Show Discussion
Hopefully I'm not the only one thats seen the latest episode...
I thought it was great how they took the whole Haig comment and assumed there was going to be a coo. I do find it kind of fucking weird how they keep going into woods to use the radio though. I mean couldnt they just go to their Russian contact and relay messages? Seems easier and less risky.

That scene where the FBI guy walked by his KGB informant was so intense. When he saw the guy watching in the car, the look on his face was great. I exhaled the same time he did after he walked by her.
I feel like the show isn't big enough yet. There aren't enough characters and I'm worried there aren't going to be that many substantial ones. That's one of the reasons Justified is so great. It brings you into a world that is filled with dozens of amazing characters that have a lasting impression on you. I don't even remember any of the characters in the American's names. But maybe in time i'll pick them up.

Yeah that's a valid concern. It would be nice to get some more side characters. Maybe some people at the Russian embassy and the FBI.
I kind of think/hope the one FBI guy is a double agent after he didn't radio Stan about the car following Nina the KGB agent. That would add a nice twist to things. I just hope we don't get too involved in the kids' stories. I really don't give a shit about them aside from the way Elizabeth and Philip interact with them about what they're learning about Russia.

Re: "The Americans" TV Show Discussion
I watched it earlier. I think that may have been my favorite episode yet. I have to agree with you on the kids Hagen. I like them as a thing that Phil cares about and stuff like that. No need for big plotlines of their own. Plus as Matt knows, she is hard to even look at with those bangs. They are terrible.
Also a random note not from this episode. I think it is pretty hilarious when Phil is just talking to Stan as a regular guy. I don't know it makes me giggle.

Anybody see it last night?
*SPOILERS*
I love the how they have nerve-wracking scenes in almost every episode. The last 5 minutes were incredibly tense. And that scene where Elizabeth was switching cars in the repair shop.
And I feel like the Russian Embassy worker Nina is definitely going to be dead in an episode or two. Probably right before Stan's going to let her go into witness protection.

At some point I'd like to watch this show. I will probably now have to wait until it is on Netflix and hopefully that happens just a little before season 2 starts.

They're going to be having a marathon of the first five episodes this weekend I think. I'm sure you can find out what day online.

Re: "The Americans" TV Show Discussion
My favorite part this week was when Elizabeth was switching cars. Holy crap that was awesome. I'm with you on Nina dying. She's definitely not getting out of this alive. Her days are numbered. Really good first season of a show we are watching here.
Re: "The Americans" TV Show Discussion
I kinda like the implication that Stan may be getting attached to Nina, so if/when something tragic happens to her, it could mess him up, too.
I'm still waiting for that moment where Stan and the Jennings intersect but not to the extent that their covers are blown.
Never thought I'd see Margo Martindale get beat up by anyone, so when Russell put the hurt on her, I was shocked.

Felt bad for the Polish dude last night. He didn't even bang her yet he still got charged with rape. Talk about a double-whammy.

Anyone still watching? I just finished the season up. Pretty impressive first season. Phil is awesome. I like what they did with Nina by season's end. And here both me and hagen were predicting her death.
Re: "The Americans" TV Show Discussion
Way late on this, but yeah, that finale was amazing. Definitely did not see that coming with Nina. Her and Stan's relationship should be really interesting next season

Hey everyone it is back! Pretty good premiere. Paige should be scarred for life now. I thought the breakfast the morning after was hilarious.
