This is a general discusson of Namco's Tales series. I mostly made it in anticipation of Tales of Xillia, which is my remaining most-anticipated game of the year now that Ni no Kuni and Bioshock Infinite have landed.

I'm excited for it Graces turned out being probably my favorite JRPG this gen. Really wasn't a huge fan of Vesperia though (in terms of combat anyways it didnt do enough things different), but this one seems to mix things up a bit like Graces did. Xillia is probably the only game that has a chance of knocking Tomb Raider off as my GOTY. Hope it gets an official release date soon

I loved Graces f, although I did love Vesperia as well. Right now, Ni no Kuni is my front-runner for GOTY and Tales of Xillia is the only game that I think is a likely competitor for that title, barring a surprise.

Vesperia was a good game it just felt too similar to Abyss in terms of combat, and I simply preferred Abyss's story and characters. I loved what Graces did with the combat system though it felt fresh while still maintaining the feel of a Tales game. The only thing I really didnt like about Graces was Sophie she was so fucking boring.

Vesperia was a good game it just felt too similar to Abyss in terms of combat, and I simply preferred Abyss's story and characters. My favorite Tales game is still Symphonia, with Vesperia and Graces tied for second. I just love the battling and the characters of Symphonia the best. I don't expect any of the other games to top it any more than I expect any Final Fantasy game to top VII, but I do hope that Xillia turns out to be the series' equivalent (in my mind) of Final Fantasy XII.

And this reminds me I still need to play the future arc of Graces before Xillia comes out. Oops :/

Abyss starts out really slow, and it has issues, but I ended up loving it a lot by the end (I even liked Luke who I hated to begin with) Natalia's probably my favorite Tales character for some reason I can relate to her a lot, and I love Jade too.

btw the future arc is around 15-20 hours wont take too long to finish

I have the PS2 version of TotA. I didn't like that one as much as Symphonia. Thinking of starting a new game with it though.

I loved Vesperia. It's probably my favorite 360-exclusive game. I just wish the PS3 version had made it out in the US.

I'm stuck on the last boss fight of the Future arc.

Oh gawd that boss was a bitch. I don't remember how I beat it, i do remember my party was Richard, Cheria (Malak with the Cheria clone title), Sophie, and Pascal.

Guess I'll be starting Abyss again sooner rather than later, I'm easily convinced. ('Θ') I'm not starting the game over though, Luke is kind of unbearable and he needs to hurry up and develop into a decent character. Ugh.

And yeah, next to Mass Effect, Tales of Vesperia was my favorite 360 game. I got the PS3 version as a Christmas present since I don't have a 360 anymore but I have to follow a script to play it because I just don't know that much japanese yet. It's worth it though. Yuri is such a great main character <3

Aaanyways Luke starts to get better after the point where he's the most insufferable. I actually ended up liking him by the end. I think the reason I prefer Abyss to Vesperia is I like the whole cast in Abyss, while Vesperia has Estelle, and i hated her everyone else was great though

I just hope that it isn't only available for direct order from Digital River. I'm very leery of them after the fiasco with the Ni no Kuni Wizards' Edition, although I did get a free hardcover game guide out of that deal.

For sure, I'd rather not deal with Digital River again if at all possible. If so, all I can suggest is preorder as soon as possible and make sure/hope to god you don't have to make any changes to your order.

Still, it didn't sound like it would be exclusive to the Namco Bandai store. I'm just personally hoping it will be at GameStop since I get my discount there ϵ( 'Θ' )϶

Gamestop got exclusive preorder DLC for Graces so I think there's a decent chance they will get this too. Also mine's like just up the street so it's really easy for me to just walk there.

Currently playing Tales of the Abyss and getting Xillia as a gift when it comes out. Heard good things about the series and am excited to try them out.

I own every "Mothership" Tales title released in the US so far. That's every title except Destiny 2 (a PS2 sequel to Tales of Destiny, the game titled as that that came out in the US was Tales of Eternia), Rebirth, Innocence, and Hearts. And Xillia 2, but that's coming out in the US next year.
