From a distance, and I don't have a PS4 so I'm waiting, but I would just buy them together and play them together. As an outside observer and from what I've read from people on this forum GZ seems like a very well polished and long demo but I'm with Matt in that while it's COOL to release it early I think I'd rather just have it as part of MGSV...

EDIT: Yes, I know, I haven't played it I know nothing blahblahblah but this is just my opinion as an observer before y'all get all brutal on my ass.

One thing I think would be nice would be to add an update that adds just a few more extra missions for free, as a way of saying "Thanks." I know it won't happen, but it would be nice.

Anyone played this on PS3?

It essentially is a long and polished demo. It's basically like separately buying the tanker mission for MGS2 but with more replayability and a ton of side content thrown on. From what I know most people only really bought ZOE1 for the MGS2 demo, so.

I played it on PS3, Mot. Visually it's not as impressive compared to that of the PS4 of course but it certainly doesn't look bad. With the point that it ends and the section I assume Phantom Pain will start at it serves as a nice transition I think, with a long wait and then bamn suddenly whole new huge better looking game.

Bret you got my hopes up that'll happen now even though it never will.

Time to necro this thread because, as usual, I like being fashionably late.

Kojima needs a hug or something. I know the entire internet, including each and every one of us, has said he is batshit, but the GZ loading screen and "backstory" take it to a new level. He has to be on some sort of opium. Everything starts out all fine and dandy and then abruptly delves into a bad acid trip.

I bet with Kojima there are no bad ideas. As polarizing as he is, put me in the fanboy camp. The dude is similar to Dali.

That opening sequence, that song "Here's to you Nicola and Bart" just takes a great opening, and makes it greater. He's the Tarantino of game directing.

Yeah, that opening was something else. Even his taste in music is avant garde for the medium. If he really does do the Silent Hill thing I think we're all in for a treat. Don't quote me on this but I think Alice Cooper wrote Welcome To My Nightmare about Kojima.

(That being said I think I should be able to skip all of his fancy "art" shit and get straight to pacifying fools.)

GZ is such a mixed back. On one hand I couldn't stop thinking about it and wanted to get home and play it. On the other it's just a glorified tech demo that has moronic A.I. and questionable direction. For example, I was spotted by a camera and ran into a storage unit to hide. The guards lined up to get in the door to where I was hiding. They opened the door and I got headshots on all of them. The fourth guy was the most puzzling because I interrupted his "lost sight of target" speech. A speech he was giving while I offed his buddies.

*edit* I think I read somewhere that Phantom Pain is supposed to have dynamic weather. I'm a little concerned about that because Kojima is just whacko enough to tie that into some innocuous mechanic. I seriously never know when he's fucking with me. That's a good thing in that it keeps me emerged. It's like the John Douglas/Mark Olshaker books. (oh, and I meant "bag" not "back". That's probably my least embarrassing auto-correct)
