Re: Now Playing
Yeah, that some of them are covers becomes really obvious with Jumping Jack Flash. Much faster than how the Rolling Stones sang it. There's actually two of the Ouedan games (Japanese version) also. Makes me wish we got a sequel.

I used to be really excited for Ninja Gaiden Sigma II Plus. Not so much now. I'm not sure why.

Yeah, I remember when I first got to that part. I blame the spinning sections.

Edit: By the skin of my fucking teeth it is beaten, and I clenched my fists and thrust them into the air when I beat it despite being in an empty apartment.

Played the first episode of The Walking Dead. Good story, but a lot of little technical flaws. I'll get the other episodes when they're free or on sale for a good price.

Re: Now Playing
I'm still slowly chugging away on Skyrim. This is my third save file I've started up and I've finally gotten into this game. There's just so much stuff to do, it's overwhelming. I have to force myself to do one thing at a time.
I also am pretty deep into Heart of the Swarm's campaign. I know there aren't many Starcraft fans on here, but god damn is that game amazing. I mean, you get to play as Kerrigan again!

Re: Now Playing
I wanted to love Oblivion and didn't, and I think the same would happen with Skyrim. It's like you said, there's just too much to do. I think I normally feel overwhelmed by games that have the whole story told through first person. For some reason I just don't like it. Just started Farcry 2 (trying to play through all of the free games I get from PS+), and games that start from a first person perspective just make me feel disoriented in a way. I don't mind playing campaigns of first person shooters (Killzone, Resistance, to a certain degree Call of Duty, Timesplitters), but when the story is told in first person I find myself getting lost on what I'm supposed to do. I prefer cut scenes when it comes to the story, and as I look through my game collections, I can't see one game that is pretty much told in first person that I have that I love.

Re: Now Playing
I actually play a lot of Skyrim in third person. I only pop it to first when I have to do a lot of blocking with my shield. It doesn't really change the experience that much... just helps me get a better feel for the environment. I get stuck on rocks and walls too much in first person.

Re: Now Playing
Yeah, moving around was hard for me in Oblivion. My character just felt like a big block of mass. Far Cry is similar. Gonna try to get into FC2 a bit more and see if I like it, if not I'm gonna delete it and start a new PS+ game.
I'll eventually buy Skyrim, just not going to plop down more than $20 for it.

Re: Now Playing
I wanna get Skyrim at some point, the only thing stopping me is the price, the most I'm paying for it is 20 bucks or less. That and the glitches that the PS3 version has, or so I've read.

Re: Now Playing
I think the glitches are mostly worked out of the PS3 version. I'm about 25-30 hours in and I haven't had one glitch yet. I mean... I did have a flying wooly mammoth, but that was pretty sweet. You're going to get some weird hiccups with any Bethesda game on any console--PC included. Whenever you guys do pick it up... its one hell of a value at any price. All the time I've played the game so far I have only done two main story missions. There's just so much content in this game. It seems endless.

Re: Now Playing
Getting the 360 version of Skrim when its 20. Don't particularly care for TES games but for 20 bucks they are great when timesinks when you got nothing better to do.
Re: Now Playing
I found ...strangely enough, that the PC version of Skyrim wasn't very glitchy at all. After everyone talking about all these hilarious glitches I encountered very few.

Anyone ever beat Farcry 2? If so, was it fun and how long was it?

Re: Now Playing
I beat FC2. I think I played it for about 24 hours. It is fun at times and does some very cool stuff (though part of that for me were things like the real map that kept you in first person which obviously isn't for you), but man the game could be a pain in the ass. Especially traveling between missions with all those respawning guards. I see it as a bit of a flawed gem. I'm very glad I played it but it isn't for everyone.

Got a review copy of the new Hyperdimension Neptunia...let's just say there's a reason Kay's the only one here who plays these games.

Re: Now Playing
yeah, the part that i hate is the respawning guards. It makes going from mission to mission a real chore. Hell, some would hate just driving, let alone having to stop to take out people all of the time. I enjoy parts, but hate others. Also, the controls are horrible. Did they fix the controls for 3?

Re: Now Playing
Jesus Christ.
Alright, I invested roughly eight hours or so into God of War: Ascension - which for me is a serious commitment - but I'm at this goddamn Trial of Archemedes, and it is fucking insane. I've gone through God War 2 and 3 on Titan, I have spent some time dealing with hard parts and challenging battles...but this...fuck this. Not counting the 8 hours I've mentioned, I've dumped about another 4 into this one part. It's beyond terrible. Cheap, cheap shit.
The only good outcome from this is that I'm back to Dead Space 3 to take the edge off.

I don't remember having a single issue with the controls in 2 (well maybe hang gliding), but it has been a while since I played. What's the problem? 3's controls are great too.BretBaber wrote:yeah, the part that i hate is the respawning guards. It makes going from mission to mission a real chore. Re: Now Playing
Just the aiming is jerky, driving the the vehicles seems clunky, and the sprint button (typical L3) feels really unresponsive. I'll keep playing it, but it sucks when you die at a mission and have to drive all the way back there again. I think I'm playing it way too late, since the game came out like 5 or 6 years ago.

Spacemonkey just thought I'd let you know that Skyrim apparently has a lot of snow areas. Not sure if that would make you want to get it sooner, but know it would make you like it more.

Re: Now Playing
I've waited this long, so I guess I should keep on waiting. It's a beautiful game, I bet the snow sections are amazing. Hopefully there is a yeti beast.
I don't think there's a game out there that I should enjoy more than Oblivion/Skyrim, but I just didn't like Oblivion. Hopefully Skyrim sucks me in.
Speaking of snow, anyone see the United State's men's national soccer team game against Costa Rica? I love soccer, but I'd hate to play in that shit.

So, KMart sent me a coupon for 10 bucks off a 30 dollar purchase because my bday is coming up. Nice, gonna browse their online store to see what they have. I'm open to game suggestions.

Haha Cassie plays them too. It's funny how the only people who play that kind of stuff here are the females.
