I never lived in a neighborhood that had an ice cream truck. Once in awhile there would be a Schwann's truck when I lived in Arizona as a kid, and my mom would buy me an ice cream bar, but it wasn't quite the same.

I didn't have one either, but would sometimes go to a place that had them.  I usually went for a bomb pop or the cartoon character with a gum ball as an eye or nose.

Tomorrow night I have to work third shift (10 PM to 7 AM), and the two nights after that. Right now it is almost 11 PM and I'm already tired even though I need to try and stay up as late as possible. Any tips? Movies, role playing games, and books are out, those things always make me tired.

I would love to read your Buffy fan-fix  Very Happy

If I only slept for 2 or 3 hours and woke up it would make me feel sick.  I don't sleep a lot, but that small amount of sleep would make me feel ill.

My legs are dead.

The biggest tradeshow in the UK for board games tabletop miniatures like Warhammer etc was in London yesterday so seeing as that's the stuff we sell at work we had to pack loads of stock up and go there. Woke up at 5am, was out of the door by half past, had to get a lift with the boss into London, then when we got to the convention we had to finish checking and organising everything, then an entire day of standing around a busy convention helping customers until 5pm with a half an hour break followed by spending at least an hour of packing everything back up and onto the trucks awaited. Didn't get back home until gone 8.

It was actually a really fun day too. Bossman bought us a quick snack at the start of the day then during the half an hour break I sat outside with an ice-cream in the sun which was nice. There were people actually protesting the entire event of war gaming miniatures with banners that had "PEACE" in bright colours.

Downloaded the trial version of RPG maker, but I hate all the default stuff. I need to find a way to import my own music and art.
Problem is I SERIOUSLY suck at visual art. Music I can do, but I can't draw for crap. Downloaded GIMP anyway just to see if I can wing it.

In alberta it seems like there's at least one random snow day every summer. One year we even got like half a foot overnight in august only to have it melt right away. It's weird

We got like two inches of snow here, and the last week it has been around 60 degrees. The snow has stuck so far, been out there for about 12 hours.

Look, I know what you guys are going to say already, I'm a pretentious asshole, but hear me out.

I've been rewatching Cowboy Bebop because...well, that show is god damn amazing. But anyway, the subtitles in that show are REALLY good, and even the dubbing was pretty close compared to that translation. Which just got me frustrated with some of hte localizations I've seen lately (ni No kuni, fire emblem). I mean, it's pretty close but the translators lately seem to be taking a LOT of liberties.

Now I don't miss the slightly awkward translations of the mid-90's but I appreciated that those were closer in tone to the originals. Like it's one thing to clean up a line it's another to add a characteristic to it that goes against what the character is about in the original. It's like I want the middle ground between Final Fantasy VII's slightly awkward but accurate translation and Ni no Kuni's vibrant but sometimes BLATANTLY wrong one.

I don't know...I'm not like a "EVERYTHING MUST BE PURE" because yeah, I get we don't all speak Japanese or French or German or whatever other language, but I guess I'm a big proponent of translation efforts respecting the source material and, more importantly, the culture of the source material.

Cowboy Bebop holds up very well if you ask me. It's got a sense of humor, some good hard SF concepts in there. Good stuff. Ghost in the Shell is also good. Ninja Scroll I don't remember.

Most of the rest of it...meh. But man, you guys surprise me, Cowboy Bebop is awesome. That said, you've all ignored my rant, and that sends my little insecure self into spiraling feelings of self loathing and hatred for everyone/everything.

I don't have much experience with anime, but I think I can say that Cowboy Bebop did do a great job with translating. I can't remember anything ever not making sense, and there were never any lines that made me question the translation.

On the other hand, my roommate has me watching Deathnote, and sometimes I wonder whether or not the original meaning is coming across.

Ahhh, Ninja Scroll. One of my first anime films. I'm pretty sure I still have my VHS casette of it I bought from Blockbuster back in the 1990s somewhere. Gotta love the lady who spawned snakes from her vagina.

My favorite anime is Elfen Lied. Its opening scene is a naked girl ripping people apart with her minds. Good times, good times.

I've heard that one is alright. I don't know, I don't hate anime like Greenman does but 80% of it...fuck that. It's made for teenage boys and never ends.

ALSO, I really wish I knew someone who could draw. I've been sketching up some story outlines for a story I think would really work as a comic or...gah. Alas, I cannot, oh well. Creative process is satisfying for its own sake.

Cowboy Bebop is a fucking awesome show. It has a brilliant cast of characters, great humour, fantastic music, the fight scenes are jaw droppingly good - ESPECIALLY in the movie. It's just a fantastic show all around and the way it's done means even people who aren't really into anime can enjoy it.

I watched Elfen Lied a year or so ago and it was shit. fite me.

Mandatory mention about how Neon Genesis Evangelion and Berserk are the greatest shows and how Krubix needs to watch End of Evangelion at some point still.
