He wrecks shop when he remembers he's making a game. Not when he's making 4 hour, ridiculously written cutscene.

You know, I started up Splinter Cell: Blacklist again, no graphics glitches this time luckily. And beyond the...awful...awful tutorial level it's actually not bad. It's not an AMAZING stealth game but I'm having fun playing it. It doesn't hurt that it was a present so I didn't pay for it either.

Re: Now Playing
I had fun with Splinter Cell: Blacklist. I believe there are some more strict side missions (Grim's) as far as stealth goes if the main ones don't give you enough. Though it is also the game that killed my 360. I ended up renting it later on for PS3.

I blame the install disc for killing your 360

Re: Now Playing
Playing The Witcher 2. It's about what you'd expect from a PC elitist game. Unintuitive menus, unresponsive controls, and awful context sensitive actions. Very "deep." It still seems promising in some ways so I'll stick with it, but when I die because my character decides to play with a torch across the hall rather than fight (which is the same button for some reason) I doubt it can do anything to make me call it a great game. Maybe being in an open space will stop that but stuff like that makes a lasting impression. It's really annoying because the combat seems quite alright otherwise.
There has also been 3 different styles of cutscenes so far which is annoying. CGI was cool in 2004 and comic book cutscenes were cool in maybe the first 2 games that used them. Plus there was this one with a map and some random narrator. Think of Samuel L Jackson's bits in Inglourious Bastards but instead of him it's some loser telling you to keep playing the game because you'll meet some guy or something. That's really what he said. "Don't quit now because you'll meet this guy who's totally interesting, I swear"

Re: Now Playing
I'm going to make a confession. I gave up on the Witcher 2 in the last chapter (at least I think it was the last chapter). I had a lot of the same issues, in addition to struggling to make it run smoothly despite being a PC elitist game. But yeah, just didn't grip me in the way it's gripped a lot of people. I feel bad for stopping it after putting so much time into it now. But if I were to try to pick it up again I doubt I'd even know how to play it anymore.
But still really enjoying Splinter Cell: Blacklist. You're right about those side missions Trip, but I actually don't mind playing a mix of silent killer/totally ghosty sneaky guy. I tend to only reload my saves if I get flat out discovered and there's no way I can smoothly get out of it without killing everyone. Considering how terrible the tutorial mission was, and all the graphics issues that made it unplayable my first try, my bar as very low on this game but it's more than exceeded my expectations.

Re: Now Playing
I'm pretty bad at stealth games, so I played it like a mix of Ghost when I could and then Panther other times (like when it was pissing me off... haha). Sometimes non-lethal... sometimes fuck it. I don't even remember the tutorial mission. Was it like an action sequence or something?
Re: Now Playing
I prefer to go with the flow and leave stealth runs for later. Trying to be totally undetected is never really all that fun for me unless I'm really pushing myself in the game

Re: Now Playing
Yeah, all-stealth runs are more for a second playthrough. That said, I found in stuff like MGS, constraining yourself to not knocking out enemies made the game a lot more fun. But usually I'm in the exact same boat as Trip.

I'm one of the lame-os that tranquilizers every bad guy in MGS. It's there, so why should I not use it?

i go non lethal till the game makes me mad and than i bring out the rocket launchers and machine guns and wreck shit
Re: Now Playing
I don't disagree with that, I just think the tranq gun is SUPER overpowered in MGS. If the ammo reserve was small and hard to find it would be fine, but you have enough ammo to knock out every single enemy in the game

I think there's enough challenge in sneaking to a good vantage point and hitting them in the head at a spot where no one else will see them and get suspicious. More so in 3 than 4 though.

Pretty much exactly how I play, but there are also the times when I get caught and run in a corner and die horribly. That happens a lot...Kayshire Cat wrote:i go non lethal till the game makes me mad and than i bring out the rocket launchers and machine guns and wreck shit

But seeing a tranq'ed guard didn't send them into alert mode, it was only when the guards woke up right? So you just tranq a guard, then the next guy sees it...then you tranq him...rinse and repeat until all the guards in the game are in a single dog pile of floating Z's and limbs.

Holy shit, AssCreed Unity is getting sodomized by game critics. Won't mean a thing as long as 10 million people still buy it anyway though.

I'm proud to say I haven't played one Assassin Creeds game. Just never looked fun to me.

Sodomized? It has like a mid-70s aggregate score (same as Destiny and Fantasy Life). I wonder what verb you'd use for the way they graded that Platinum Korra game.
BretBaber wrote:I'm proud to say I haven't played one Assassin Creeds game. Just never looked fun to me.
AC2 was at least a top 25 game last gen. It's fine to not care, but "proud" you missed a quality game (plus Brotherhood is really good) is kind of a weird way to put it.
I don't even care about the series anymore, but these comments seem to have an ulterior motive and I don't even know what it is.
Edit: This came off harsh. I apologize, but I just don't get comments sometimes especially when reacting to reviews.
Re: Now Playing
From what I've read, a lot of reviewers seem to think that it could actually be a really good game, but it's basically unfinished. Like what happened with Battlefield 4, but that actually got better reviews than this (despite a lot of people claiming it was downright unplayable.) These rushed releases are a joke. Just one more reason I almost never buy games at launch

There's two AC games coming out on the same day and at least one of them is unfinished? Ugh......

Re: Now Playing
If this game is as broken as some critics/people have indicated (or unfinished as ajapam put it), it should get panned worse. Maybe a 70s score is a sodomizing by AAA standards... which is a whole other problem.
I might look into this for my mom. She loves Animal Crossing, but Zelda is a little too much for her. I really don't know much about the game though.

Re: Now Playing
What I meant was me saying I'm proud to not be one of the people that flocks to these games every year. It's turned into a Call of Duty series now, and because they're making so much money from it they will just continue to release a new one year after year, instead of making a quality game. To know I'm not apart of a cash grab yearly release game to me is something to be proud of. It's the same reason I stopped buying Call of Duty games.

Re: Now Playing
Annualized series usually start off with something great though. Proud to not continually buy a milked franchise I get. Proud to have not played a game so good it warranted yearly sequels financially not so much.

I'm not saying proud about that, but I also don't care that I haven't played it. Like I said above, never looked fun to me.

Well you have to understand that's how I interpret it when your original comment is
"I'm proud to say I haven't played one Assassin Creeds game."
