Kay and Lenny, it sounds like you both had great cats. I wouldn't mind having a cat like that at all.
And that was really cute, Trip.

Re: Chat Thread
I ask my sisters or mom to do it for me. One of my sisters will give me lip about how I need to learn to do it myself, but then I ask when the last time she killed a spider was and she shuts up. I just plain suck at it and will never be good at it and that's okay.

Re: Chat Thread
I did a real shitty job on wrapping them, and was pumped when the paper ran out when I had a big shoe box to wrap. It's not that I don't love her, I just despise wrapping presents.
My favorite thing to do (which wouldn't go over well with her) is to use obituaries from newspapers as wrapping paper. A friend of mine always gets a kick out of it when I wrap her presents like that.
Volvo, that's a good reason to get out of wrapping presents. Sadly I hate spiders as does my girlfriend, so I have to man up and kill those 8 legged shitheads.

I mean, I don't kill them for her anymore since she moved out, but she always plays the "because I'm a woman" card and I just say that to remind her she enjoys the benefits of that so just do me a fucking favor.

Re: Chat Thread
I'm good at wrapping gifts i usually try to do something special with the paper. One year for Christmas I even made cards for everyone in my family with artwork and poetry and everything and stuff GOD THAT WAS A LOT OF WORK.
Spiders make me scream like a little girl.

Re: Chat Thread
pspiddy, I know the feeling of spider fear. I think most of my fear came from the movie arachnophobia. Whenever I watch that movie, I have to check all over the toilet seat when I take a shit because of it. Bugles also creep me out now. Unfortunately my girlfriend will get to the point of almost tears because she hates them so much. The weapon I typically use is an alluminum practice bat (used for coaches to practice ground balls, it was my cousins when I lived with him at one time) and either bug spray or Rave hair spray. It's a two punch combo that gets me the W.

Thank god I'm not in the countryside...I've seen those spiders and god damn. They are huge and they are fast ;____;
Also, I managed to chip my front tooth kickboxing for the 3rd time (chip it, not specifically in kickboxing though)...so yay, to the dentist for me. At least it's pretty cheap out here.

Hey, did I complain? No =p. But it is annoying knowing that if I bite anything remotely hard my filling might rip out.

I was more talking about the spiders. But I will say there are some in this group who I think follow that more closely than others. Those being Trip, Lenny, me, Matt, and Kay

If there's one thing I require in a man, he has to be able to kill spiders and big scary bugs for me. Last time I tried to kill a huge spider that fucker jumped and ran under my bed. I slept in my parents room that night D:

Also having to sleep in your parents room cause of a spider, that's kind of adorable.

Also, when I lived in Okinawa, these were the spiders you had to watch out for. The banana spider. I remember a Marine almost walked into this guy face-first while we were out in the field.
Re: Chat Thread
Bugs in Japan can be frighteningly large.
Lenny did you ever come across the huge acid-spraying hornets from hell?

Re: Chat Thread
The spiders around here don't usually scare me. Probably because they're usually pretty small. If they don't look poisonous I'll usually even put them outside.
My sister once emptied our downstairs shower of all of our bottle recyclables because the upstairs shower had a spider in it.

Thankfully, no. Do you mean the ōsuzumebachi (おおすずめばち(大雀蜂、大胡蜂) "giant sparrow bee")?Krubixcube wrote: Lenny did you ever come across the huge acid-spraying hornets from hell?
I actually don't recall seeing any terrorizing bees. Snorkeling and scuba diving I've come across sea-snakes (poisonous), lion fish (poisonous) and stone fish (poisonous). We also had man-o-war jellyfish warnings, but by that time of the year the water was too cold to swim in anyway (too cold = ~60 degrees or lower). We were forewarned the first week on the island that virtually every snake on the island was poisonous, and most of the native bugs were too, so naturally I never got too close to any crazy bugs. I also never came across any of the red centipedes that allegedly aggro'd people, either, but I saw fireflies for the first time of my life out there.
But of course, there were also the swarms of cicadas, dragonflies, a plethora of june bug/green beetles, and freakishly LARGE bats. I mean, bats with the same wing span as an average person's arms spread out. There was actually one morning my entire battalion was out on a run, and it was nearing dawn when I saw a dead bat dangling from a power line and it was ridiculously large. Talk about vampire bats.
Japan truly has some crazy-large critters.

I never want to go to Japan now people. Thanks for the warnings.

Yeah, that's them Lenny...
Bret: Tokyo is relatively bug free. Couple of beetles but they're kind of cute. And these little jumping spiders that I've named Jerry that are more adorable than anything.

@Krubixcube Have you encountered them or any other crazy animals/insects while you've been there? I wouldn't think Tokyo would have much of an insect problem.
@Bret - Just don't go out into the country and you'll surely be fine. Overall, Japan is pretty awesome.
