The GC controller had a lot going for it, but that C-stick certainly wasn't one of it. That and the D-Pad were the only two flaws I felt it had, should have used normal sized ones.

Not sure what you mean by good for Vita either since I can count the number of multiplat handheld games on the two this gen and none of those came out recently. Handhelds are sticking to exclusives nowadays.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about, so I guess over to IGN I go. Someday I'd like to get a 3DS.

If you wait for this one, it's getting a port of Xenoblade which I think you'd enjoy a lot

New 3DS

@spiddy: Still, the guys who would give us these games care almost entirely about market and demographic, which a little extra power won't fix

Just feels like Nintendo is like Apple in that I'll say "Hey your product seems worthwhile I think I'll buy i-"

"WHOOPS, sorry it's already obsolete!"

"But I already bought it."

"Really? Welp, better buy a new one too then, huh?"

This. How does an otherwise fantastically designed controller have such a pointlessly bad dpad and analog?

i will agree on the dpad, but i love the c-stick not really sure why though.

Still looking at the new 3DS this thing looks awful. Now it is nintendo and i wont judge it till i get my hands on it cause they are known to make things that look terrible actually work. Why the fuck didnt they just put down by the start/select buttons?

I will never get the extreme praise for the Cube controller with such glaring flaws as the d-pad and the c-stick. Didn't love the Z button either, but that wasn't a big issue.

Overall I have to say I am disappointed with both handhelds this gen. Neither has delivered on the exclusive software side of things the way I'd hoped. I suppose there is still time for the 3DS, but it also has these hardware decisions adding to my disappointment. The Vita still has the edge for me. Amazing hardware, but other than a handful of exclusives it has been weak on the software front for me. Since I play them mostly at home, I usually just play on the TV when I have the option of both, so PS3 ports aren't exactly doing a lot for me.

I love the GC controller for its perfectly comfortable shape, the best triggers ever, a weird, yet mostly great face button placement, and that amazing left stick that for some reason Nintendo abandoned for cheaper feeling ones. When a game used these to its advantage, it was an amazing controller. But if I had to play Street Fighter, Halo, or New Super Mario Bros on that thing, well fuck that.

CG controller is probably the comfiest controller of all time.

Was tempted to buy a 3DS in a couple of months but I guess not now, will wait until the new one gets a European release date.

PSTRIPLE controller has died on me, it finally took a fall too many. Time to fork out £40 for a replacement in the one goddamn month where I decided not to be sensible with money and spent loads of it on payday.

Our friend Maria was over, and I made her play P.T. with my Sony Gold headset on. I have a big life regret not broadcasting it, because her and Lindsay both jumped and screamed so loud. That's a real creepy game for any on here that haven't played it.

Has anyone on here ever played a PS2 classic game on a big screen HD TV?  San Andreas is on sale and I've never played it, but I don't want to buy it if it's going to look like shit.  I played Resident Evil 4 for the Wii on the TV once, and even using component cables for it the game was so hard to look at it became unplayable. Also, if they do look fine, does anyone know if San Andreas can be set up in widescreen mode? I wish Rockstar would just do an HD remake of the games.

I have. They look just fine to me. FF12 and Dragon Quest VIII (my gold standards for PS2 graphics) still look as awesome as ever. I never have seen why people complain about playing old games on modern TVs, honestly. I guess the higher resolution makes the pixels and jaggies stand out more, maybe? I don't really notice the difference.

I have played Dragon Quest VIII on my old PS3 system that is backwards compatible, and Final Fantasy XII actually. DQ looks really good because it's cel shaded and bright, I'm worried GTA SA might suffer like RE4 did, because the game has darker colors.

Just ordered my last PC parts that I needed, apart from a couple things I can just grab from staples with a gift card. I'll be back to playing new games soon (or just more Spelunky on a more expensive system.)

Woohoo!

Pretty dumb that they don't add to what you already have. I know they're expecting a lot of new system owners, but throw your old dog a bone too.

GTA: San Andreas actually used some fairly bright colors, so I'm sure it will be fine. On the other hand, I always thought the PS2 GTA games looked like ass to begin with, so I don't know why I commented. Smile

I bought it and it is downloading now. Hopefully I enjoy it as much as I did GTA3 and Vice City back in the early 00's. I think I may be a little late to this party and the archaic combat controls might make me a little frustrated now.

Watched a review of Destiny. Greenie wasn't kidding about Dinklage. Great actor but that is the definition of phoning it in.

I say they should have gone with Chris Pratt. Having every mission start with him yelling, "Let's go here guys!" or "Ohhhhh, that sounds awesome!" would make things more fun.
