Re: Gaming Chat Thread
So for those of you who haven't heard, Capcom's stock is set so one person can now own the majority of it (forget the exact term for that). And I was wondering if MS would end up buying the majority of the company. With all the franchises the company has, it could both help Capcom's financial issues and MS's lack of 1st party developers. Out of all the game companies, they're the only one I can honestly see taking advantage of this.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I don't think MS buying Capcom would be good for either side, personally. Nothing is going to make Japan like Microsoft or the Xbox brand. Getting Monster Hunter as an Xbox exclusive would not light Xbox One's sales on fire. It would kill Monster Hunter for good. Capcom would get a quick cash infusion (and its financial situation is nowhere near as dire as uninformed forum dwellers would have you believe, either, and no I'm not talking about you guys. ), then once their stuff didn't sell, they'd be kicked to the curb and shut down, or at the very least rendered as irrelevant as Rare was.
MS moneyhatted a lot of Japanese exclusives early in the 360's life, and most of those that accepted MS money ended up regretting it deeply, Namco in particular, with the lost sales in Japan where the Xbox brand is hated, and the lost sales in the US, where Xbox fans are generally disdainful of Japan's video games. The only thing MS accomplished was crippling the PS3's library, and that was not cool.

I know, I read the article you linked to...I didn't find it horribly offensive. I mean, it wasn't great or anything.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
An article I read about how Star Wars represents racial fears because Darth Vader looks like a giant black dick is idiotic. An article saying that Watch Dogs could have done more with its premise by not just reducing morality to violent acts is...well, an opinion. And a fairly valid one at that. *shrugs*

Hunting for PC parts is headache inducing sometimes. Why can't these things just say "Will run Far Cry 4 at 60FPS while still looking damn good?" Is that too much to ask for?

Probably because the wrong combination of parts, even good ones, won't run Far Cry 4 at 60FPS while still looking damn good.

this is one of many reasons why I'm glad I don't like playing games on computers.

They just throw together a bunch of numbers and call it good. You'd think higher would automatically mean better but sometimes it's the second number that means more. Gah. And I have no idea what the 3rd number ever means. This website can kind of help (though I'd recommend sticking to one kind of part otherwise it turns into a mess of numbers) http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Yeah, I used that chart but was still a little lost though. I found one that will give me good performance from my power source while still playing games at high settings though so I'm good.

If I ever tried to build a PC it sounds like my head would explode. I'm glad I'm still happy with consoles. I'll leave the fancy PC stuff to you smart people.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
PC gaming feels like the only way forward. I'm excited for when I eventually build mine even though it'll no doubt be nightmarish. (Which I've been saying for the past 4 years but it'll happen this year for sure! ;__; )
Gonna miss having physical copies of all those games though. It's pretty hard to justify getting them at a much higher price for much worse performance just so it can sit on the shelf and gather dust.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
If anyone has some good ranks, particularly for games we have not done yet, let me know. I have sort of run out of gas on that at the moment. I know we are in need of a Silent Hill 2 one, Earthbound one, and maybe a Crash Bandicoot one to cover some more people around here's favorite games. Repeats for games/series we have hit already are also welcome.
Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I don't think we've done anything Final Fantasy related.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I have no clue what it means, but we do have "You're flaming red now kupo!" at 2100 (only spiddy and Twolf have hit it). Spiddy suggested it from the contest thing. I will throw a few more of the Final Fantasy suggestions in, but don't want to just lay them right on top of each other. Would like them spread out a bit at least. I will head back to my big list and make sure I didn't miss any either.
Re: Gaming Chat Thread
"Unassuming Local Guy" is a good Earthbound one i think.
Also if you're doing favorite games we need a Drakengard one. 3 is my favorite game now

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I thought you meant topics, now I get what you mean. I was just being sarcastic since people are always talking about Final Fantasy. Last time I said I'd try to think of some but this time I really will. A lot of times I don't get what the ranks mean, like the one you have right now. No promises, but I'll try to think of some.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
We could save some ranks by having spiddy permanently ranked as The Great Mighty Poo from Conker
