man and i was excited when this game was announced
I guess it is probably a good idea to never trust a trailer that has Skrillex music in it. FUCKING BANGARANGS

I watched a review for the new Assassin's Creed and it really does highlight how Ubisoft designs by committee. I'm really enjoying splinter cell but seeing things from that game wholesale in Assassin's creed (Including some animations) is a bit disquieting

Most game companies design by committee. Ubisoft is hardly the lone offender in that regard. AssCreed Unity is merely shining yet another light on the problem.

Certainly not the lone offender, it just really struck me since I was just playing Splinter Cell.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ubisoft about as much as I like EA, which isn't much, but design-by-committee is par for the course in gaming today.

No surprise, I guess. But the game will sell okay for its circumstances. I just wonder who the hell thought this game was a good idea.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
it looked good from the first trailer.
I think BRB was just a bad choice and now they'll live in infamy because of it

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I was hoping it would turn out well. BRB was created by some ex-ND vets and the first trailer kind of reminded me a bit of Sony's PS2 platformers. Oh well.
Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Growing up I had a Super Nintendo and a Sega Genesis. I only ever rented games for my Genesis, and the only two I owned was Sonic 2 and Family Feud. I've never really liked Sonic games, always felt like crap compared to Mario games. Especially considering these games were out the same time as Super Mario World, which just blew any Sonic game away. I did like the Sonic Racing game, but not really a platformer.

The Sonic Boom cartoon is crap too. Only funny character is Knuckles and the plots are stupid

after 06 which was made by Sonic Team its been chiefly handed by Dimps.
How BRB got it i have no clue

The situation can be summed up something like this. When Sega went third-party, it no longer had any incentive to bring out great games to compete against Nintendo's franchises or Sony's big third-party hitters. They made some noises about being the biggest third-party developer out there and they had the 2K Sports label, but they sold that to Take-Two around the time EA won exclusivity from the NFL. Pity, too, because 2K has all but forced EA out of the basketball market.
Yuji Naka is long gone, and I don't know if Yu Suzuki is still working for Sega, since he pretty much disappeared after Shenmue 2. I guess Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Team's boss, did the best he could? That we got great games like Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza, or Resonance of Fate is a minor miracle, and I don't think we'll even see anything like that from Sega anymore. It's sad.

Sega probably hoped ex-ND talent would succeed where Dimps didn't. Instead, they took it from mediocre to shit.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I doubt after this BRB will get any other game offers or even a publisher. When you can't even have enough faith in your in game to continue developing it.
It's really disheartening that this game happens, and Sega can't even localize PSO2.
A new in-house multiplatform Sonic game is apparently due out next year it will probably be better than Boom, but i doubt it will be that great

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I think the mass exodus was deserting a sinking ship. BRB won't last much longer.
Wonder if the multiplatform Sonic will be skipping the Wii U like every other multiplat. Nintendo really got screwed by having Sonic Boom as its last exclusive Sonic game. The franchise has seen better days but it still sells well enough, or at least Sonic's merchandising is still worth something.

It still sells Sonic still has the crazy megafans who will eat up any shit they put out. Last i seen Metacritic and Amazon were full of people giving it perfect scores in user reviews.

My big desires for localization from Sega at the moment are Yakuza 5 and Shining Resonance. I'd half-heartedly hoped that Sega might turn its RPG localizations over to Atlus USA when they bought Atlus, though I never seriously believed they'd do it.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
The game awards look like a fucking trainwreck. The "advisors" are all CEO's of companies with games in the nominees. The only user voted awards are most anticipated like usual, and then favorite eSports, favorite youtube celebrity, and fucking favorite meme. FAVORITE MEME FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND PURE IN THIS WORLD
Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Well those arent the actual category names, but its basically what they boil down to. It's "Trending Gamer" and "Fan Creation" officially http://thegameawards.com/nominees/
Re: Gaming Chat Thread
At least Twitch Plays Pokemon is winning that category. It was actually a neat idea and not a meme
Though when I think "fan creation" I think of mods and stuff. How is luigi's stare, which isn't even a fan creation, even a candidate when there's stuff like JC2 Multiplayer or the entire worlds people create in games like Skyrim or Fallout?
I also enjoy how there's a best remaster category

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
i would be in favor of the best remaster category if half of those games werent released last year.
Also as great as Smash is why is it in the best fighter category twice?

Maybe they're counting the Wii U and 3DS versions separately.
These awards sound like an even bigger clusterfuck than the old Spike TV VGAs.

I would say these award ceremonies sound particularly biased considering the industry involvement and then I thought of every other major award ceremony and I thought better of it.
