Re: Now Playing
I really should go back and try Dark Souls. I need to just give up on the pipe dream that I have of playing it multiplayer (fucking invaders) and just play it single player while dead.

Re: Now Playing
That's really the only way to play it. Especially now that everyone's so overpowered it's impossible to beat them

Just got through Virmire in Mass Effect today. That's one of my favorite levels in any game, everything about it except the save points was just so damn good. I also love how it's one of the few instances in the series where the way you play the game affects the outcome in the story and vice versa, not just you making a choice and going on.

Re: Now Playing
Saints Row 3 is surprisingly great. I expected there to be a ton of humour similar to Bordermemes 2 and just stupid whacky gameplay for the sake of it but me and my mate have been hooked on it for the past few days. The writing is actually hilarious and some of the missions feel so fucking awesome to play through. Most of the side mission stuff is horrifically dull though which wouldn't be a problem if the main missions didn't involve playing some of them.
Re: Now Playing
Beat Ground Zeroes. Just doing the story mode will make it less than 2 hours. I'd say around 1 hour. Beating it unlocks missions. After beating the game, it said I was only 10% complete so I'm assuming there's a good amount of missions to be accomplished. There's really only a couple cut scenes for those who are expecting heavy amounts of cut scenes.

I forgot how much I hate the beginning of Final Fantasy X. Tidus is a real jubilant penis.

I havent made it to the end of 2 yet, but i know generally speaking pierce and multihit physical attacks work well against most of 1's end game bosses, put a Kishin in that party so you can attack twice each turn. Almighty spells and Drain should be used by magic users. I can never understate how useful the Drain spell is
Re: Now Playing
Played a bit of Shadow of the Colossus on my Vita today via remote play. It's no replacement for the real thing, but still very cool if your connection can handle it. Remember remote play on the Ps3? It was even bigger than the custom soundtracks feature!

Haha, could you even play a significant number of games with PS3/PSP remote play?

Re: Now Playing
I think you can play every PS1 game, a few HD collections, and some decent indie games (most notably the Pixeljunk games.) As for bigger-budget games... well, Lair has remote play...

Re: Now Playing
I confused the shit out of myself with the expert sphere grid I had everyone in the same area and ugh i couldnt tell where i was going with all the nametags.
its a bit overwhelming at first but i should have it figured out once i start getting everyone where i want them and gaining levels faster.

Re: Now Playing
Is there a perk to using that? I never heard of this expert sphere grid so I just went with the normal. You may be a bigger FFX expert than me, and I was wondering if there were any missable trophies? I might want to do a platinum trophy and haven't picked up a strategy guide yet, and was wondering if there were missables. Also, what are some of the harder ones? Do you have to do the dodge lightning trophy 200 times in a row or just 200 times?

Re: Now Playing
Expert Sphere grid adds a few abilities not on the normal sphere grid (mainly the extract skills. Physical attacks that cost 1MP and make enemies drop whatever sphere the skill is assosciated with. Power Extract gets you power spheres, etc.)
It also starts everyone in or near the center. Where Kimahri is in the normal grid and links all the areas at certain parts so you can combine certain roles. Like have a character have both Lulu and Yuna's skills. It doesnt allow FULL customization but it offers uite a bit of freedom.
Hardest trophies will be the chocobo racing, the lightning dodging is in a row not total. There's also Blitzball trophies and maxing out the sphere grid with EVERYONE. Some Al bhed primers are missable. Make sure to check EVERY room in any area you can't return to especially Home.

Re: Now Playing
Platinum might be out of the window, I don't want to try and get that 200 lightning trophy. If I were to get to 190 and mess up I might murder something. I've always heard the chocobo section of Final Fantasy X was hard, but I never personally attempted it.

Re: Now Playing
Dark Souls 2 is pretty goddamn awesome. They've changed enough in terms of the gameplay for it to feel really fresh and interesting just trying to figure bits and pieces out. It's still really challenging and satisfying to beat. I was pretty disgusted by how awful it looked at first, it seriously looks like a very early PS3 game, but the design of the environments themselves are so good that the game still looks absolutely brilliant.
Got MGS:GZ turning up tomorrow hopefully. Excited.

Re: Now Playing
FINALLY beat Devil Survivor. God, that last day was painful...getting the 3DS for my birthday on Tuesday...however, my girlfriend has barred me from opening it until my actual birthday so PAH! But should be starting up the new Zelda and Fire Emblem soon so I'm kind of going on a gaming dry out at the moment so I'm not overwhelmed.
Also, Rogue(ish) Ham, new guy, welcome. Enjoy the forum and whatsits.

Re: Now Playing
Had to review a game called SteamWorld for PS4. Control wise there's nothing wrong with it at all, but god damn is this game boring. It's just mining for treasure until you fill up then going back to the surface with an occasional incredibly easy obstacle.

Re: Now Playing
I think one thing that could have been done differently is that final fight cut scene. They should have let the player participate in that for a little bit, just to add a bit more gameplay to the overall story.

Re: Now Playing
I agree, that was one thing that I disliked quite a bit. Let's talk about it more in the MGS thread though.
Re: Now Playing
Infamous: Second Son is a blast to play so far. The new controls just make the combat so much more fast and fun.

Re: Now Playing
I played Yaiba for a couple of hours and it's okay a bit button-mashy though. Had some pretty cool moments though. Having a zombie crash a semi through a pair of giant legs in a lingerie shop and then having it rain panties was pretty hilarious
Re: Now Playing
Kind of between games right now. Waiting for Infamous to arrive. Hopefully I can start it tomorrow.
On the Gamefly front I sent back Mario Kart and they sent out Yoshi's Island 3DS which I'm excited to try. Didn't seem to review particularly great, but I liked YI DS more than most, so I'm hoping for just a fun time with it if nothing spectacular.
I still play Mass Effect here and there, but I'm just not hooked in yet. Hopefully I get there.

Re: Now Playing
Ajapam, according to your sig you're currently in Blighttown. My best thoughts and wishes are with you.
Re: Now Playing
Knowing you Spiddy, I'd probably say Infamous because I think you'd enjoy the combat here a lot, it's really chaotic and fun. You can't go wrong either way though, just ask if you want a short game you'll spend your time mastering the mechanics on or a longer game you'll spend your time dicking around in and finding all the sandbox stuff.

I've thought idly about picking up Yaiba, but it's been reviewing horribly. Jim Sterling ripped that game a new asshole, citing the lingerie store scene specifically. I'm usually kind of dismissive as to how valuable game reviews and game journalism in general are these days, but that game has been reviewing poorly everywhere. Any more thoughts on it?

Re: Now Playing
I'm enjoying Yariba. Got a review code and it's fun in the same way watching Plan 9 From Outer Space is. It's stupid and a huge mess, but something about it just works, at least for me. Could have something to do with me ripping off a clown's arms and using them as nunchucks. I do think there's a good chance you'd like it San but keep it down to $20 max.
