Polygon is a site run by a bunch of straight white guys and one woman who complain about how straight white guys are too privileged in the gaming community.
That is the best description i can give. its supposed to be a game site but they want to throw politics into everything, politics which they dont even understand. The EIC blocked when i said one of his writers offended me. He tried defending him and I'm like no he still offended me i want an apology. He blocked me after that
Re: Chat Thread
Everyone here could make a better gaming site. One thing I can't stand is politics, even the word is stupid.

It is hard to find more editorialized stuff in video games. 1up tried to...but it just didn't have an audience either. I kind of knew once IGN bought them they would probably get absorbed but hopefully at least the good members of staff would find a home somewhere else. I kind of flit around on different websites, I still go to the big corporate ones just to see announcements and surface level stuff...as for actual interesting features and stuff...*shrug*.
@Rainjar: That's what's called in psychological circles as "moral panic" (in regards to backstabbing teachers)

The issue isn't a lack of editorialized stuff, trust me, we've got plenty of that. The issue that everyone who is editorializing is a fucking idiot.

There's a severe thunderstorm moving into my area. So what am I doing? Charging every electronic device in case my power goes out. Anyone else do the same thing?

I guess "intelligent" editorializing is what I was going for...

Meh. There's always blogs by normal people and Extra Credits videos for editorials

I'd say Yahtzee has the best editorials now on Extra Punctuation.

Re: Chat Thread
My biggest problem with the gaming press is they can literally say 5+5=30 in their articles and a million people will point it out and they WILL NEVER admit it was there they may change it, but they wont own up to it or apologize. They are worse than fucking fanboys i swear to god.
Re: Chat Thread
I always accepted htere would be the monetary driven websites/magazines as there are for most industries but I feel like those websites are the dominant force.

I still wish there were more printed mags. And for all the use gaming websites are in gaming news - useless as tits on a bull, in other words - we might as well still have printed mags. The Internet has not made gaming news one iota better.

Hey, sounds good. Give me some contact info and a good day off by PM if you want. I actually work every weekend supervising a nursing facility, though, but the rest of the week is generally good for me.

Re: Chat Thread
I went to the University of Saskatchewan for 3 1/2 years for physics. Then I realized how boring it ended up being and how little I actually learned. I honestly had honor roll grades for like 3 years and got a research scholarship and all I did was apply formulas while understanding maybe a fifth of what I actually did.
So I'm switching to music (probably in Lethbridge) next year because I don't want to be one of those people who asks for nothing but the bare minimum out of life (IE my parents. They're depressing sometimes)

Re: Chat Thread
That's exactly why I'm writing a book when I'm out of school. I'm either going to try to join the police for or get into white collar crime (and with luck, the FBI) some day, but if either of these paths lead down the road of misery, well, at least I can try to make a profit off spreading all my fucked up thoughts.
Book's going to be called "365 Days of Bullshit." 3 guesses what it's going to be about.

Re: Chat Thread
I have a degree in Mathematics from Rowan University (its a fairly small University here in South Jersey). I kind of wish I'd have gone for something else in hindsight, but at the same time a lot of it was fun. I was really good at Math and liked it quite a bit coming out of High School. Figured I'd go into teaching, but sort of changed my mind on that partway through (I hated the teaching classes). It is tough to make that sort of decision (what to do with your life more or less) when you are a teenager I guess. By the end I was a little worn out on Math. I think about going back to school sometimes. I do accounting work now and the occasional other odd jobs, but am not very happy with it.
Re: Chat Thread
That's actually a startlingly accurate description, but I feel like you're giving me more credit than I'm due.
@Trip: I thought about being a teacher (mostly because my dad's one...and my mom...and both my sisters), but then I realized I'm too much of an asshole for that. I don't think I could resist the temptation to tell parents they're clueless morons with a child who makes mistakes and stupid choices, but by some miracle did not turn out half as bad as the people who raised him.

I lucked out and only had one professor promote his own work. And his version of "promotion" was telling us to photocopy the pages and return the book. So I bought his book and kept it.
Maybe that was his plan all along
