Re: Anticipated Games
I was never that interested in the game. Sounds like I'll be even less interested from negative comments on here.

I want to want The Order if that makes sense. If there's no human enemies I think it may have enough going for it that I'll give it a shot but the cinematic focus is disappointing.

I like human enemies more. The only exception to this is Resistance, but even then they were just changed versions of former humans. Your heart is truly sic-fi Mr. Volvo Crusher.

Re: Anticipated Games
Well I actually mean fighting werewolves and other mythical creatures, preferably with multiple weapon slots and health packs. Just something to differentiate it from every other shooter. I also have always thought humans were the most boring enemy you can throw. There's only one type of human with predictable abilities, it gives next to no room for variety.

I like non-human enemies but when they don't act just like humans they usually just rush you. Zombies ruin everything

Lucky you, they just introduced some new enemies today. A new faction known as the Rebellion which are... You guessed it... Humans!volvocrusher wrote:I want to want The Order if that makes sense. Re: Anticipated Games
I'd be more excited if it were a God of War game. There's something about things that take place in the 1700's and 1800's that I just don't like. Not just related to games, but also movies as well. Maybe at some point I'll try the game, but I remember watching the E3 video and just not caring too much, despite the company making the game. Do I hope it does well? Sure do since it is a Sony exclusive and all, but I don't think I'll be lining up to buy it when it comes out.
They made the PSP God of War's and Playstation All Stars right?

Re: Anticipated Games
Like Greenman said, I want to like this. And maybe I'm wrong since they showed barely any gameplay. But the way the guy talked in the interview I saw it sounded like they were basically revolutionizing in the arena of slowly walking down corridors. They talked about switching between shooting to walk and talk sections to melee QTEs to cutscenes. But you can move your weapon around in the cutscene and the QTE is branching. They were probably trying to say how seamless it was from a graphical statement, but it threw up some red flags for me. Hopefully when they show it around E3, I'll be more impressed.
Also Bret in regards to non-human enemies. What about God of War and Ratchet? That is just off the top of my head of series you like without human enemies.

Re: Anticipated Games
So I saw the gameplay trailer and wish this was a TV show instead. The whole new technology that would fit in that era is just such an awesome idea, but the gameplay looked pretty bland. Maybe if it were a WRPG like Mass Effect where there's plenty of interaction in the world and stuff to explore, but as is it really looks like a story over gameplay experience. I could see myself getting it at $20, but no way am I paying full price for this.

Re: Anticipated Games
Platformers to me are all about weird enemies so games like Ratchet, Mario, Sly, etc... don't really bother me. I'm playing as a lombax and a robot so that solves that problem.
I've said it before but I don't know if anyone remembers, God of War was a game I never wanted to play because it didn't look like something that would interest me. The enemies don't bother me too much, in a way it's like I'm playing a Buffy game. When it comes to shooters I don't really like fighting aliens or robots. What I hate more than that though is when the entire shooter game is told in first person, I hate that. Yeah I get that I'm supposed to feel like that's me, but it isn't and I don't.

Re: Anticipated Games
I'm not a fan of the FPS storytelling much either. There were some exceptions, Fallout I don't mind as much because it's super immersive, so it actually does succeed and Bioshock Infinite had a great payoff from it at the end so it worked. But it doesn't bother me too much.

Re: Anticipated Games
The games that I can think of that have done it that I don't like are Bioshock, Oblivion, and Killzone: Shadow Falls. Bioshock and Oblivion I stopped playing because of it. I like seeing my character, I like seeing cut scenes. Back on the PS1, when you'd get FMV sequences in games like Final Fantasy it almost felt like a treat for the player. I remember being so blown away by those cut scenes, and I loved how games like Metal Gear Solid felt like action movies. When it is all in first person, it just feels so boring and that I'm missing things.
The only real exception to this is the first Resistance game, but the narrator told the story in an interesting way, even though it was only still photos a lot of the time.

Re: Anticipated Games
I didn't like it in Bioshock 1, but Infinite actually does a few cool things with it, don't think the last part would have had the same impact if it were just a cutscene.

I love it when an FPS is entirely first-person, but I HATE first-person cutscenes. Nothing feels weirder than a first-person cutscene.

I would, but I'm already getting inFamous, South Park and Metal Gear. That's already way too many games than I have time for!

Re: Anticipated Games
It was originally going to be on PS3/360, then they decided to make a next gen version, then MS paid for exclusivity. Shame because I'd love to play it on PS4. Maybe 2 will be on it.

Re: Anticipated Games
I didn't know that. I thought the X-Box One might really start to sell some systems having that as exclusive but now I doubt it will sell as many as I thought because of that. Still I think it will sell some systems, just not as many because of that. Didn't know it was going to be on the PS4 either.

Re: Anticipated Games
I'm kind of interested in checking out Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. It's only $30 for the 360 version and it's been getting really good reviews. But since it's multiplayer only I was curious if anyone else had any interest in this? It's been a while since we had a good multiplayer game to play.

Re: Anticipated Games
Sweet! The $30 price point is right in my sweet spot. I wish more games did this. Into the Nexus was another good one that I appreciated and enjoyed more because I knew it was a "budget" game.

I'm glad they dropped the PS4 and XB1 version of Ground Zeroes down to $30 for retail. A little FYI for those that didn't know.
