Re: Anticipated Games
I'd assume there's a lot of gameplay considering its open world. Maybe wait to play it before preemptively criticizing it.

Re: Anticipated Games
Aw, I struck a nerve will ol' greeny. I never liked the idea of releasing the game as two bits, but the fact that it's discounted does ease it up somewhat.
That said, to say that I'll be suffering through a lot of overlong-cutscenes in an MGS game is just a statement of fact at this point. I rag on MGS, I still like the series, but I still get to rag on the stuff I don't like because it's the internet and what else is it for?

Sorry, it takes a lot more to strike a nerve with me. I get the jab on the cutscenes. I'm just saying, the setup is going in a different direction, so maybe don't judge that particular part of it based on past MGS games until you play it. Just calling it how I see it.

Re: Anticipated Games
The last MGS game Kojima made was Peacewalker and that actually did have a ton of gameplay, and not very many cutscenes by comparison.
I know the ragging on Kojima for cutscenes is well deserved, etc, etc, but people always seem to forget about Peacewalker. Which is an actual game. I actually have some hope he's learned his lesson.

Re: Anticipated Games
I just take the wait and see approach with Kojima because while he doesn't make anything bad, they're not always that great. But even something like 2 is worth playing just because they always give something to talk about in a way no other series really provides.

Re: Anticipated Games
I know I've said it before and I think greeny thought different, I just wish he'd stop putting so much sic-fi/unreal things into his games. Cut scenes don't bother me, but characters like Vamp bother me. Flying things back in the 60's bother me. Raiden having white blood and surviving everything bothers me. The timeline is just all out of whack with some of the crazy shit that they do.
I love Peace Walkers. That game throws a lot of game at you. Every now and then I pop it in and just play away.

Re: Anticipated Games
Yeah, I definitely think different. There's definitely some bad shit. Anything involving nanobots is immediately terrible, for instance. But the powers all the bosses in MGS1 and 3 had and that people just accept them and move on is the kind of shit we don't get enough of in games or anything really.

Re: Anticipated Games
The first one didn't have any weird powers for the bosses except for Mantis, but everyone of them in 3 had them and it did kind of annoy me. Not as bad as Vamp, but my nerves were still grated. The game was so good it didn't bother me much.

Grey Fox and Ocelot were pretty weird too. Don't see too many cyborg ninjas or guys who can ricochet bullets in other games.

Re: Anticipated Games
Just got a confirmation that I'm getting the Energy Hook beta (Kickstarter game). Only problem is it's in March just like every other fucking game this year. Funny because I completely forgot about it, but I'm really excited for it. Since most of you don't know what it is, it's the guy who made the Spiderman 2 game giving that same grappling mechanic in a more linear game with a jetpack and Tony Hawk style scoring while you're swinging. It sounds great.

Can't wait til Friday when my Collectors' Edition Bravely Default comes in.
And on the 25th, my Tales of Symphonia Chronicles CE!
Yeah, I've been buying a lot of my games in Collectors' Editions lately.

Re: Anticipated Games
New Sonic game supposed to be similiar to Skylanders and Borderlands (i've heard people say both)
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTP-JbDBSCw&feature=youtu.be
Article: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sonic-boom-announced-but-just-what-has-sega-done-to-knuckles/1100-6417572/
Honestly aside from Knuckles fucking dumb design and the dubstep in the trailer it sounds really good, and the project is headed by one of the co-founders of Naughty Dog.
I know better than to get excited about Sonic though.

Re: Anticipated Games
I remember when Bob Rafei started Big Red Button like five years ago. To be honest, I never expected them to get any sort of big game out in this vein. The way it sounds via previews and interviews and the look of some of the environments reminds me of Sony's PS2 platforming series a bit which is really cool as a fan of those (maybe not for bigger Sonic fans... not sure). I know there are former Jak and Ratchet devs other than Bob, so that kind of makes sense.
Knuckles design really is terrible though. What's with all the athletic tape in general? I'll have to keep an eye on this. Also the dev that did Sly 4 is working on the 3DS version.

Re: Anticipated Games
I'm in. The cartoon they're pairing with it gives me hope they'll stick with it instead of moving onto something else rather than improve what they do have.

Re: Anticipated Games
Don't do this to yourself people. You know how it ends with anything Sonic related.
Re: Anticipated Games
I'd like to hear from you guys about Ground Zeroes now with all the hubbub about its length to price ratio. Any thoughts on this?
Re: Anticipated Games
It's pretty much what I expected seeing as we all knew GZ was going to just be the prologue so I'm still super excited. I expect Kojima to do it an interesting way that'll make it so it's not just some bullshit cash-in.
Re: Anticipated Games
I'm excited for it, but I don't know if I'll buy it right away. I may try to rent it from somewhere and buy it later for cheaper. Maybe with PS+ they'll have a deal to make it cheaper than $30 for digital download for PS4.

Re: Anticipated Games
The length is one of the last things I'm worried about in Ground Zeroes. MGS games have never really been that long (I think 3 was sort of long but that's it) and the quality is usually high enough to justify the price. I'm more worried about the game itself

I think I'm waitin for a price drop too. Infamous looks more attractive after that announcement.

Re: Anticipated Games
Traded in some games today and realized that I had enough to pay off Infamous, so looks like I'll be getting that and MGS next month. And South Park. And Titanfall. Good thing my new boss is making me work so many extra hours now, going to have a lot of time and money for those.

Re: Anticipated Games
New trailer for The Order coming tomorrow! Pretty excited to see more on this game.
Re: Anticipated Games
I don't want to jump to conclusions, but what I saw and read about The Order today makes me think all my concerns I've had about it so far seem pretty legitimate. Seems like a really generic shooter that is overly cinematic. I mean the setting and weapons still seem cool and the graphics look nice, but I'm not very impressed with what I've seen.
