I tried a bit of Ground Zeroes. The controls are sublime. So much better than the MGS games I've played before.

The controls are good, but at times certain things are hard for me because I was used to the old way.

Chugging through The Witcher 3 some more for my review. Want to do a good number of side quests to get a good sense of the game before I really start typing it. Overall, it's a good game, but not as great as everyone's made it out to be. Some quests really drag on and it has some frustrating design choices. But if you like a fantasy RPG, I see no reason why you wouldn't like it. Especially the Witcher contracts, just hunting monsters down, awesome.

I finished Episode 3 of Telltale's Game of Thrones. Eh I don't know, it just isn't that good. I am downloading the fourth episode now though.

I still need to do Walking Dead Season 2 (waiting til I can get a controller that works with the game) and then I really want to try Life is Strange (based on Trip and some other friend's recommendations).

I am playing Metal Gear Rising. It is pretty fun. Took me a couple chapters to get the hang of the combat, but I'm really enjoying it. I do wish we could abolish the "waggle the joystick to get out of a stunned state" thing that this and many other games seem to think is a good idea.

I agree it's bad, but it really beats the "Mash button to get out of a stunned state" they went with before. Making progress!

I played Life is Strange Episode 1 since it was on sale on steam...immediately bought the season pass for the rest of the season. Loved it. Really got under my skin. Very unique for an adventure game, very good on a writing standpoint, good voice acting just...good. Really impressed.

Picked up Ori and the Blind Forest in that game so far. A few technical bugs aside, I'm loving this game. It's gorgeous, the platforming's a lot of fun, and the opening is really touching. Recommended.

I finished Metal Gear Rising. I enjoyed it. It has a great combat system with some really unique features like blade mode/Zandatsu. I love how fast Raiden is as well. Slicing shit up in this game is so fun.

Some things definitely hold it back from being a top-tier entry in this sub-genre for me. The camera is pretty bad. That is true of a lot of action games, but this one has a directional blocking system as a core feature, so having a bad camera is more agregious. It is rather short too. Things like the stick waggling (and oddly enough there is plenty of button mashing still for people like Greenman who hate that more!) and the slow walk sections are kind of lame too, but minor issues. The bosses were good, but perhaps the final one was too hyped up to me beforehand because I was expecting something cooler. The Bayonetta games have several way better boss fights in my opinion. The Masked Lumen for instance I prefer by a large margin. But he was still good. I just had one of those unfortunate cases of having expected too much.

Good game. Just not as good as stuff like Ninja Gaiden (the good ones) or Bayonetta (especially 2) in my opinion.

Started up Arkham Knight. Still has that compelling nature to it where I just want to get to the next mission, but will get distracted by side objectives and Riddler clues along the way. Batmobile confirms my fears combat wise. Feels weird shooting at anything in a Batman game. However, driving it feels fantastic and it's used for a number of great puzzles as well as a few other tricks I'd rather not spoil. So even though it's not a perfect addition, I think they made the right choice adding it in, and I literally groaned when I first heard it was in.

Story wise, it started out kind of weak, mainly with Batman acting too much like Rorschach and feeling too much like that joke "Michael Bay's Batman." But then a twist happened, I won't spoil what it is or even hint at it other than it's a brilliant direction to take the fallout from Arkham City. May not be worth the full $60 just for that, but if you're a Batman fan, you owe it to yourself to play this.

Every single review of the new batman has complained about the Batmobile. It's interesting that even the non-website reviews are now doing the same. At least the shooting sections, which...is not very Batman like.

Beat Fantasy Life, so I moved on to Dragon Quest III on my phone. I find these ports to be amazing. To be able to take such an addicting game anywhere is awesome, plus the file sizes are super small. I only need to beat Dragon Quest III, VI, and VII to have played them all.

Also started playing Metal Gear Solid 3 on my Vita. It's a really nice port, but they changed some of the controls to work for the Vita. Not necessarily the controls fault, but I find it harder just because I'm used to the other way. I couldn't cure Snake, and I had to call up Para-Medic and actually listen to figure out how to do it this time around. Any ways, I want to beat all of the Big Boss Metal Gear games again before the new one comes out.

I'M STILL IN A DREAM, SNAKE EATER!!!

It's really not that bad. Had a few crashes but that was due to other programs clogging up the memory. Have seen minor slowdown too, but with how liberally these games use slow motion it may be more apparent than I notice

It seems to be missing a bunch of effects, textures and, if some comparison shots I saw were correct, some full on models (like trees).

I have a Radeon R9 270X Graphics Card. Fortunate I haven't been having any of those issues so far. Game looks and plays amazing on my PC, though I am missing 60 FPS. Still, I played the last Arkham games at 30, so it's not a jarring shift.

I have been slowly making progress on The Witcher 3. I really don't know why I bought it. I have a bunch of other games I have to finish and I barely played The Witcher 2... it didn't really do it for me. I'm absolutely loving The Witcher 3, though. It kind of feels like a mix between Dragon Age (with better combat) and Red Dead Redemption. I love riding your horse from town to town and getting sucked into all the side missions. There's so much content in this game. I've probably played close to 15 hours and I feel like I've barely touched the main quest line... although a lot of the main quest stuff is broken up into pieces so you can do small chunks of it at a time in between all the side stuff. It all feels so natural.

Batman is pretty damn fun so far. I think the Batmobile is pretty cool, but I think they perhaps went a little overboard with how often it is used. Hopefully they dial it back a bit going forward. Also John Noble is pretty great as Scarecrow so far.

I finished the two free Metal Gear Rising DLCs.

The Jetstream Sam one was meh. I like seeing other characters fleshed out with their own moves like this. It is fun to see how the devs transfer them to the playable side when you saw them as a rival or enemy during the game. So that was cool. But too much rehashed content here which was lazy. Really wanted some new bosses at least.

The Blade Wolf one was cool because it felt more different. More stealth focused and a new boss. Plus you play as a robot dog so that is pretty sweet! I enjoyed this one more than the Sam one, though it was a bit shorter.

Had a busy week but looking forward to powering through some more Life is Strange. I also got Far Cry 3 on the steam sale since quite a few people (including some people on this forum if I recall...) seem to like it and I needed something less story focused. Been replaying a lot of RPGs and adventure games and whatnot lately. Will be nice to just shoot something in the face for once.

Started up Xcom. It was going ok until there was an escort mission and the guy got shot through a wall because enemies can apparently see and shoot you no matter what if you're within range. Either that or the camera in this game is awful. That's the kind of thing that makes me instantly quit a game.

I gave Xcom another chance, this time on impossible difficulty because a friend recommended it. I told myself I'd just go with the flow if anyone died. I was having fun and doing surprisingly well... Then for some reason I can't shoot at an alien that's completely visible. Ok. Then from another angle that alien (still completely visible) gives me a much lower hit percentage than another that's only slightly closer and completely hidden. Then I can't walk through a hole in the wall that's obviously much bigger than me. Then I move the first soldier I was talking about to a spot where I can barely see the alien through the door because I'm at such a ridiculous angle... Now I can shoot him.

This game is killing me. When it works logically, it feels like my strategy game, but alas...

I also booted up Valkyria Chronicles on PC. Seems like a pretty decent port. The faux-generic-Ps3 save screen gives me a good laugh every time I see it. I forgot how inexplicably awful the AI in this game could be, though

I would kind of count on it >_>. I'd place my tanks in a few spots that I KNEW would lure out stupid idiot AI soldiers and wait for them to get mowed down by the machine gunners I set up on the wings. Which still felt like strategy just not against intelligent opponents.

I loved XCOM but it just felt so random. So I wasn't doing poorly but I just had to wait for ages for something significant to happen etc.
