Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
John Wick is awesome. Apparently they're making a sequel... which will probably be pretty great. I bought the first movie on blu ray and have watched it a few times. Definitely one of my go to action movies.

I wasn't super impressed with John Wick. Not to be inflammatory just...meh.
Watched The Act of Killing...if you ever want to lose faith in humanity by all means give that one a watch (but it is worth watching)

Watched Wings of Desire. The first part is The Empire Strikes Back and the second part is Attack of the Clones. I've never had such a wildly changing opinion of a movie

Huh. I don't remember that movie very well but I don't remember having that strong of a reaction to it. Makes me want to watch it again.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
Just watched Dario Argento's Suspiria. Too graphic for my taste in horror. Also the dialog is no good and it does that weird Italian "dub everything for no good reason" thing.
Visually, though... If I could make a horror movie, it'd look a lot like this. The set design is incredible. That alone makes it must watch horror for me

I've heard a lot of people say the same thing about Suspiria "Deeply flawed...but just LOOK at it" seems to sum up the opinions I've heard.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
That about sums it up, yes.
I watched the Japanese "horror" movie House. It's sort of like a slasher movie, but well... crazy. The beginning and end drag a bit but it's a really fun watch if you have a high wackiness tolerance. I mean really high. It's probably the strangest movie I've ever seen. I bet it's a blast for halloween parties with drunk people.
If you consider it a slasher it's easily my favorite of all time but I'm not really a fan of those. I felt like this does what all of those try to do but abandons any pretense of story or scares for sheer creativity and laughs.

I watched Birdman. The whole looks like one continuous shot thing was pretty cool. Not sure what I thought about the movie as a whole though.
Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
I watched House with a group of friends and it was a fantastic time, but it's one of those movies that just wouldn't be fun to watch alone.

Saw Inside Out. It's nice to have Pixar back at the top of their game.

I watched Cure, a japanese detective movie with the tone of a psychological horror movie. I loved it. Instant favorite. I wish I could find a Blu-ray of it

I watched the newest Mission Impossible movie. It's no Fury Road but it's definitely a worthwhile action movie. The villain seemed like a bit of a wimp, though

I was...unimpressed with the newest Mission Impossible (and i LOVED the last one). That CG of the car flipping over really bugged me too for some reason haha.

Saw Black Mass, which felt like a lot of lines/scenes for the trailer were written before they realized they needed to make a whole film out of it.

Watched Interstellar. The space exploration was great, but man was this movie boring. Too much over explaining and the ending was kind of stupid

Totally agree on the over-explaining and the ending. Disagree that it was boring personally.
Best scene in the movie was going down to the first planet and the scene right after though. Those bits were both well thought out and awesome.

Space interstellar: 9/10
Earth interstellar: 4/10
The ending wasn't so bad until it was over-explained it to the point where it was logically impossible, though. I felt like the explanation that was given was just thought up to make it sound deep.

Boring is just mostly how I felt leaving it. Movie was really long and I was exhausted coming out, was ready to be done after Matt Damon's appearance
Definitely agree the first planet was the best part.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
Just watched "It's Such a Beautiful Day" by the guy who did the Rejected animated shorts (which are amazing). It blew me away.
Me and the girlfriend decided to watch it randomly and it struck a really deep chord with both of us. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, however.

The Martian was fantastic. A great script (smart and hilarious), great ensemble cast and great direction from Ridley Scott, on the rebound from the limp, forgettable Exodus: Gods And Kings. Highly recommended.

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
Checked out You're Next. Slasher movie about a wealthy family who gets hunted in their cabin in the middle of the woods. Starts pretty generic, you know exactly who will live and few other characters get fleshed out. Then halfway through they throw a twist that turns the whole thing on its head. Great movie, definitely recommend you check it out if you lIke slashers. Free on Amazon Prime too

Re: Movies You've Watched Recently
Really enjoyed that movie. Beautifully shot and I liked the dark sense of humor. If you haven't seen it, Volvo, the same director made The Guest, which is streaming on Netflix. It's like a sendup of early John Carpenter films and The Terminator.

Does it at least look as nice as it seems to? The previews looked better than Pacific Rim to me (visually and otherwise)
