This goes out to a lot of people, but whomever is in charge for making commercials for big companies and they spend their whole time talking about other companies as opposed to just focusing on their own product. Example, Samsung Galaxy and Pepsi. Stop talking about what Apple or Coca Cola is doing and focus on your own products. I'm not saying everyone has to like Apple or Coca Cola, but look at their commercials, pure class commercials that just show what their products can do.

@Bret: Well, I think in terms of competing against Apple, Samsung is going the right route there. Apple just says their features because they sell more phones and have a fanbase more dedicated than anyone else. Even if you don't like those commercials, showcasing your strengths over the competition in hopes people switch is a good marketing idea.

Pepsi, however, is just stupid. Soda's just a matter of taste, and neither uses better ingredients than the other.

Sometimes Samsung will have a commercial where they pretty much say nothing about their phones, but manage to mention Apple in them. You're paying money to promote your product, so promote it. The Next Big Thing has been here for like 3 or 4 years now, get a new slogan.

That's Windows phone. Samsung Galaxy, Windows, and Kindle fire all consistently bring up Apple.

I saw a commercial for a comedian that is coming to Detroit that could replace this commercial #3 spot, and that's George Lopez. Basically if your name ends in Lopez, I hate you. Glad Conan came in and took his job away.

Not the case at all. I just prefer commercials stick to advertising their product and not bring others into it. I despise Pepsi because of the way their commercials would try to belittle Coca Cola. It's not even that I hate the flavor, their classless commercials made me hate their products and what they stand for. Samsung has done the same thing, to the point that when my two Samsung TV's break I will replace them with another brand. I hate arrogance and am a firm believer in being humble.

I hate attack ads but I'm willing to make a small exception for apple since their main strategy of late is to sell outdated tech at higher prices entirely on brand power.

I saw a Cadillac commercial where the sales pitch was basically "it's expensive." That just makes me want to run a cadillac off the road

I see where Bret's coming from, but conversely Apple's strategy does seem to be all about creating a cult of personality around its products to sell them which is equally kind of dishonest.

Everyone's dishonest, kids. That's the lesson we can take away from this.
