Re: Now Playing
I'm hoping to be done with it by my next day off (Tuesday), but I still think I have 54 animals that I need to tame. When it comes to alchemy I think I'm 1 or 2 away from that trophy, at least I hope so. Then after that I just have to beat the final stage of the Solosseum (can't remember if that's the correct spelling, the place where the Temple of Trials is at) battles and whatever boss fights I have to do again after the Marsh boss battle. The only one that might take a while is the 250 familiar one.

I'm very much looking forward to that release too. Haven't played that game in probably 5 years.

Re: Now Playing
Tried out Brothers this morning. The first couple of minutes I was starting my eye roll... seemed like one of those pretentious indie games that is all artsy fartsy, but they forget how to be fun. I'm not too far into it, but I have really enjoyed the controls with each stick controlling a brother. Some of the trophies that I have earned by accident have been pretty hilarious too. I'm excited to play more of it this afternoon.

That control scheme sounds really cool actually. Going to have to try that soon.TheMatt wrote:Tried out Brothers this morning. I find myself getting really mixed up when I end up with the little brother to the left of the old one. Right stick to move the character on the left.... gahh

Re: Now Playing
The control scheme can be a little confusing at times but by the end it's brilliant. I don't really see how it's pretentious and although it's not 'fun' but that doesn't make it unenjoyable.
Re: Now Playing
I didn't mean it like the game is like that. I just meant the opening sequence seemed like that's what I was in for. I'm actually having a lot of fun playing through it. I'm just always hesitant to play indie games that get so much praise, because I feel like a lot of them get too far up their own ass. Brothers is pretty harmless. Lots of fun so far.

Re: Now Playing
Double post... but just beat Brothers. Holy hell... that ending. Everyone should play this game, especially since its free on plus. Only took me a few hours. Definitely would have a spot on my Game of the Year 2013 list if I were to redo it. Great game.

Re: Now Playing
I remember seeing a video for Brothers and thought it looked pretty great and that the story seemed interesting too. Next time I'm on my PS3 I'll probably start it up.

Re: Now Playing
Got review codes for Broken Age and OlliOlli. Both are great. Broken Age is probably Double Fine's best game since Psychonauts and has an awesome style and sense of humor. OlliOlli is like if you mixed an autorun platformer with Tony Hawk. It's more about clearing objectives and getting as high a score off tricks as you can than getting to the end.

Re: Now Playing
Told ya it was good!
- Brother Spoilers:
- Dat use of the control scheme with the narrative at the end. Best level is Giant level though, the scale for that was insane.

Beat A Link Between Worlds. Definitely one of my favorite Zeldas.

Re: Now Playing
This Brothers game really is quite clever. The control scheme is definitely tough to get used to, but it's neat. Glad you guys were talking about it on here or I may not have gotten to it for a while.
Re: Now Playing
Really nice to see everyone getting a chance to play Brothers thanks to PS Plus. Great game and awesome Sony was able make if free for members.
Re: Now Playing
I would not have paid $15 for that game. As good as it is... its too short for that amount of money. There is zero replay value short of trophy hunting, most of which I got on the first playthrough.

Re: Now Playing
It is extremely short for a game. Not sure how much I would be will to pay for it. Glad a buddy of mine gifted it to me on steam during the Holiday Sale.

How did you like 2 Trip? That was the favorite of the trilogy for me!!

Re: Now Playing
It was pretty excellent. I mean having just finished it my mind might change, but it felt like an nice improvement over 1. So many little things were refined for both combat and traversal and then they had good additions as well like projectile counters and grappling. Plus the bigger scale, more bosses, way better opening level, significantly longer playlength. I still think Pandora's Temple might be my favorite level so far though even though overall 2 was better.
Re: Now Playing
So one of the people I follow on Youtube released this video about The Last of Us. I'm curious to know if any of you also had any AI issues like this?
My memory is pretty hazy on how they reacted, the main thing that grinded my gears about the game was how they just ignored Ellie, as well as the sniper bit, but I don't ever remember the AI being quite that awful. I think he has an interesting point at the end of the video though. I still really enjoyed TLOU overall but I think upon a replay the opinion for it overall will turn more sour, which it has been doing for a couple of months now.

Re: Now Playing
I was actually just replaying TLOU yesterday and I had some really annoying issues with the AI. I've had no problems with humans so far but at one point a clicker stopped patrolling for no reason at all and just stood in my way. It didn't even move when I threw a brick.
I also got into trouble a few times when I thought a moveable object was a drawer I could open, making every enemy notice me (despite the fact that I made absolutely no noise)

Re: Now Playing
This video brings up some good points that I didn't even realize.
I said it the very first night I played the game, I absolutely hated how my AI counter part would run in front of them and they would just continue like they didn't see a thing. It caused a problem that stuck with me for the entire game.

Re: Now Playing
It bugged me too. In a game that otherwise does SO well on creating immersion, that was a big oversight.

Re: Now Playing
I'm going to quote all these and move this particular discussion to The Last of Us thread.
Re: Now Playing
I finished Kirby Return to Dreamland which was a fun time. Despite the ability to float or whatever you call it, they managed to craft some really challenging parts. It reminded quite a bit of the NES title I loved so much when I was younger and I really liked seeing all the abilities/moves the various powers had.
I'm also chugging along on God of War 3. I really like that items like the bow have their own meter now, but don't like how magic is tied to a weapon. I guess it isn't so bad to have to switch, but it slows thing down a bit. The graphics are seriously nuts. Easily one of last gen's best looking games. I know they have the advantage of the fixed camera, but the detail is crazy and Kratos' model is amazing.

Re: Now Playing
I hope one day Rockstar will use the gameplay for Max Payne 3, fix it up a little and put it in an actual game. Max Payne 2 for best Max Payne.
