Re: Now Playing
I really wanted to go back to Ico but getting stuck at one point combined with the combat (don't care if removing it makes it less game-y, it sucks) pushed me over the edge. Brothers really is Ico 2.0 in my eyes

TheMatt wrote:Damn. I didn't mean to start a big fuss with that. I was just saying that the game doesn't look that great now. What I should have said was in 2014, the graphics are kind of shitty, to me at least. But I'm sure it was great when it came out. The PS3 was already released by the time I played the game for the first time. So I guess its more dated that shitty.
Reading back my comment it does sound like I am hating on the game. I'm really not. I actually tweeted the other day that it deserves a spot in my top 5 of all time. Its one of the few games I go back and play every year.
I don't want this to turn in to a huge argument... so if I said something that pissed you guys off... I'm sorry. So feel free to continue to talk about the game. I'm gonna bow out of this one.
It's OK, it's the internet...fusses happen. Haha, don't worry, you don't have to justify it. I was just...incredulous.

Re: Now Playing
Believe it or not we did that exact thing for SotC before back on 1up. It was before your time though spiddy. Admittedly that was years ago. We could always try it again if people wanted to.
Re: Now Playing
Not stepping on any toes. I just figured I'd mention it. I went and looked it up and it was in 2009 (here is the blog I wrote as a wrap-up... it is old, take it easy on me!). It was an older version of the forums that someone else ran not me and is gone now, so the thread is nowhere to be found. A lot of different people than this one, long time ago.
Anyway, I really liked doing these kind of things. If I had more time I would have jumped into the Dishonored one.

I think both Trip and I will agree that the first Uncharted doesn't suck. Â
And 5 cats just ran out of my yard into the crazy cat yard.
Oh, and I beat the first Dragon Fantasy game. It's fun and has good humor, but don't expect a deep game. It's a rip off of old Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy games, it's basically level grind to win.

I really like the first Uncharted too. It's the only one of the 3 that I have platinumed. That said, I wouldn't want to play through it again, because I have beaten it at least 5 times and don't have much interest in going back to it.

Re: Now Playing
Despite how much I enjoy Uncharted 1, it doesn't seem like it'd be the most interesting discussion either. Plus I just want to shoot down anything spiddy suggested out of spite at this point.
Re: Now Playing
If I play it, I'm going to play it under my cousin's account because I too have the platinum. I sometimes like to get trophies for others.

Kayshire Cat wrote:And I'm just bitter i was sold a game i couldnt actually play. The set up and everything seemed great, and then i got out into the world hopped on my horse, and ugh.
If they would have taken the time to touch up the lighting and framerate maybe i would have really enjoyed it. Its supposedly better in the HD rerelease but its kind of too little too late
Understandable but in its defence you need to remember that it was released at the end of that generation and was really pushing the hardware to the limit; big open world with tons of detail and then the you have the colossi themselves. There are tons of games this gen that haven't done anything that's even close to what SotC was to the PS2 in anyway shape or form and STILL struggle to keep up a decent framerate.
The HD version suffers from major texture pop-in issues to the point I'll most likely never play it again (SotC is one of my top 5 games of all time and I have a canvas of it on my wall just to put that into a bit more perspective). I'd pick the stuttering framerate of the PS2 version over that shit any day of the week. Emulation on a good computer is the best option in all honesty.

I wish more games were like this. Too many games beat you over the head with their stories and nothing is left for debate, because we get a zillion sequels of everything and if a game/franchise isn't ended well people freak the f' out. Replaying SotC makes me actually want to see The Last Guardian come out just to see if they connect the three games together any further. But that's not gonna happen!
The only few I can of would be Dark Souls and Silent Hill 2. Still got hope for Trico to finally be complete ;_;.
Re: Now Playing
Spiddy didn't you say you wanted to play the Mass Effect trilogy? Once I'm done building my PC I'm sure that's one of the first games I'll test on it.

Re: Now Playing
You are confusing it with Kotor. With minor dicking around, I'd put 1 at 12-15 hours. Though 2 is pretty massive. Also just continued my PS3 Shepard for Mass Effect 2. It's been too long since I last played it.

Think you're talking about Throw. But Lift and Singularity are both better abilities.

BretBaber wrote:Wait until you play A Crack In Time, it's amazing.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've put it in my queue.
Finished Tools of Destruction this morning. A very solid game for the series. For an early PS3 release, it still looks great. The sixaxis moments felt weird and not that intuitive; the sky diving sequences annoyed me, although I got better at them later in the game. I actually liked the Decryptor puzzles. Overall, a well-done game.

Everything about A Crack in Time is better. So if you enjoyed Tools, there's no way you won't enjoy A Crack In Time.

Re: Now Playing
I must be weird because I loved Tools of Destruction, but i could just not get into ACiT. I've tried 2-3 times.
Re: Now Playing
I think both games are great, but I just think ACiT is definitely the better. What didn't you like about it?

Re: Now Playing
Space Travel was kind of bleh imo, too much of the side stuff was on one off planets with no real personality, and most of all how its Ratchet OR Clank for a good portion of it. Gameplay is noticeably better, but eh it just didnt have the R and C charm to me
Re: Now Playing
i have a similiar problem though i dont know the cause im not color blind. One of the reasons i got a 2DS instead of a 3DS
Re: Now Playing
I thought it controlled well enough for a top down Zelda. Most top-down games outside of Hotline Miami on PC control like balls as far as I'm concerned
Playing SSX 3 again. Probably the only series where I can do a simple halfpipe event over and over and not get bored. It's definitely better with a Ps2 controller though

Mario Kart is awesome. I just finished all the Grand Prix circuits on 50cc. Game looks great, controls are silky smooth, feels good with the big Wii U pad and the pro controller. Can't wait to hop online with all of you! My Nintendo ID is TheMattV1 if you aren't friends with me yet!
