Re: Chat Thread
Damn dude, that makes me feel better.
Yeah, my plan is to go in tomorrow and start with "I want to clear the air about x, y and z that's happened recently" and take the high road. His boss was very nice to me the other day so I'm pretty sure he's decided to hate me independently instead of through the proper channels. So...we shall see. Will report tomorrow.

Re: Chat Thread
Good luck on everything. Hope all goes well.
When bosses have egos or forget that they can actually do work, it really chafes me. I'm sure it is different else where, but where I work when you have 1 person see a problem, and he reports it to someone, who reports it to someone, who sees the next lower person, and then that lower person tells even lower me, we've got a problem. I've seriously got notes that say "Power on TV display that is off." Really? If the first person just hit the power button, it could have saved a lot of time.

Re: Chat Thread
Well to give a slightly more complete version of the story (I apologize to everyone who is completely disinterested) what happened was this:
So in my company, they essentially dispatch us to different areas. We also have what are called "Work days" on our schedule which are blank days that unless they are filled by an assignment are days off or days to prepare materials etc. It was IMPLIED but never confirmed that I might be doing office work on some of those work days. So a week into March (which is all work days) I get an e-mail from my boss saying "where the hell have you been? Why should I even pay you when you haven't been doing work?"
I responded with: "If I was expected to be in the office, why did you wait a week to contact me? I was available and on call on week, had I been contacted a week ago I would have immediately come in"
He counters by saying that i"m lazy and don't pay attention blahblahblah. Essentially, he's an asshole, most of my friends who I asked for advice (who know the company situation in more detail) pretty much said "we wouldn't judge you if you quit after these shenanigans").
So I went into the office, pretty much ready to resign, but the fuck wasn't in the office. So I just...hung out and did work, because NO ONE else in the office, including my boss' boss, treated me any differently. So this guy clearly kept his pissed offed...ness to himself the entirety of the time.
So it's a bit of a weird situation to be sure. There's more to it than what I've typed but yeah, thanks for the well-wishes, it's much appreciated as I am very stressed.

Re: Chat Thread
I don't get why bosses have to think they're so high and mighty. People wouldn't be where they are if it wasn't for the people below them. They make "World's Best Boss" mugs for a reason, every boss should strive to get one of those.
Are the people you work for Japanese? I assume they are just because you're in Japan. I'm not being racist (which is how it sounds kind of), just wondering.

No, this guy's Canadian! Aren't those maple syrupy bastards meant to be nice?! But his boss is Japanese and she's nicer.
ROLE REVERSAL!
But yeah, it's weird not because he's necessarily wrong. He accused me of this: I should have known I was in the office those days. And you know what? He MIGHT be right. I don't think he is, but I can't completely disprove him so FINE. But my arguement is, REGARDLESS of who's right, I should have been called on the first DAY I didn't show up for something I was supposed to be at, not a week later.

I agree with everything that you say, and I think most sane people would.
Get him a Tim Horton's gift card and I'm sure all would be forgiven.

Hehe, gonna need lots of solo talent to clean up that krusty head, amiright?! GUH-FAW.
Anyway, I'll be galavanting off in Korea for a few days, be back on Monday and will tell you aaaaaaall about it.
Also went to my school's graduation and got loads of pictures with all my students which was cool. Can't post them up anywhere on account of posting pictures of kids online being generally frowned upon but hey, good memories regardless.

Re: Chat Thread
When I was in Germany I got drunk to the point I can't remember anything that happened. Seeing as this was a first for me, and seeing as in my mind I went from playing a fun little drinking game with friends and was feeling perfectly fine to waking up the next morning with sick absolutely everywhere, I was pretty freaked out to say the least.
Never again.
Never again.
Re: Chat Thread
I only got completely destroyed once in an event we call "The Thanksgiving Day Massacre"
That is all.
That is all.
Re: Chat Thread
The drunkest I ever got was the time I ended up laughing hysterically at the word "snifter." That's the best story I have... Alcohol doesn't taste very good so yeah

Judging by my half gibberish texts, I think I got kicked out of a club last night. I literally don't remember a thing after 9 though.

I like gloomy weather too. Something about it is very musical and poetic. This snow bullshit is something else entirely...
You, me, Avid, and San should do a midwest trip to PAX. That would be so awesome it can't be described. Me and San would have to file for divorce while bailing you and Avid out of jail. And don't get me started if T-wolf was back in the states. That shit would end in blood or hookers or both.
Hey, I'm all for the Midwest road trip to PAX. I wouldn't have to file for divorce though. My wife's cool with that stuff.

Rainy days are the best. Living in Vancouver, I get sick of everyone complaining about it. And everyone here thinks that it rains here more than it does anywhere else
