I finally got to play a bit of this. Using a Human Titan. I have only played a couple of story missions so far, but it is quite fun. Shooting feels great.

I want this game now! It sucks going to explore and getting spanked by level 20 mobs. And it sucks that all I can do is stare at that badass sniper rifle I posted earlier. I just want to fly around screwing off and getting shinies now, damnit! You guys are probably gonna hate me on game nights. I'm not quite Leroy Jenkins but I do have an affinity for going "hey, let's shoot that and see what happens!"

I may cancel my vanilla pre-order if there's a steel case version.

The more I played of this, the less impressed I was. The story missions I played seemed to lack variety. The shooting felt solid and the AI is good, but encounters didn't seem as interesting as Halo's. I also kind of like that Halo was less ADS focused (this could be my own fault though, I found myself using ADS more here for some reason). It will be better when there are more vehicles, but I only got to try the fast transport bike thing. The art design is a big step up from Halo. No splitscreen is a bummer. I was hoping to be able to play this with my friend who I played the Halo games with locally. And if it is true there is only one area per planet (like Old Russia is all Earth will have) that isn't great either. (Feel free to tell me I am mistaken on any of these issues, I didn't play a lot of the beta like you guys, would like to be wrong).

I still think this was fun, but I wasn't as blown away as some.

I only played a little of the beta. I think it's fun and I'd love to play it, but I don't see myself having the time to get involved online or even be motivated enough to work through it solo. This might be a bargain bin one for me or wait for the inevitable GOTY version.

I suck at multi-player. I mean, I'm good at finding shit solo, I'm just not good at co-op. I really feel bad for the people I'm fucking over. It's fun for me, but for them, I'm sure they can't stand me. It sort of reminds me of how you all stomped my ass in Uncharted. Yeah, I'm "charted" in Destiny too.

Couple of questions:

Is it possible to play co-op with people at varying levels? Or does that just throw the whole thing off (I'd think it would)?

Any advice on what class to play? I tried Titan in the beta which was fine, but not particularly unique.

I will hopefully have the game tonight and be able to start it.

playing low level missions with people with high levels yes. The other way around no. Damage scales so you deal less to enemies higher than you. You dont really deal more to enemies lower than you, but you do take a lot less.

I've been using hunter. they can run faster than the other classes, and have a throwing knife, which lets you deal melee damage at range which is cool. Swarm grenade is pretty great too it lets you set up traps and will home in on enemies that come near it.

Classes dont quite matter as much as gun choice though cause youll be shooting more than using abilities regardless.

Thanks for the info Kay. After your comments and looking at some info online, I settled on Hunter. Been using a pistol and a sniper rifle so far. I felt Titan was a bit boring in the beta, so this would feel different. The pistol is pretty rad. I have only played a few story missions so far. Ones I'd already played in the beta. I hope the level/encounter design get a lot more interesting than it has been so far.

I've noticed that PVE, PVP, and co-op require drastically different load-outs. There's really not an efficient way to "break" the game. I think that's what Bungie was aiming for from the beginning. I'd go into more detail but I'm all ready sounding like an asshole so I should quit while I'm ahead.

I just got to level 15 and unlocked my second subclass. Whats cool is subclasses level up independently of your character so once you reach the cap you'll still gain abilities. The downside is you have to start over with no abilities when you switch to the new subclass.

Also Trip you're playing the exact same way i am lol. The level design does get better as it goes on. The areas beyond earth are so much better imo

It's sort of amazing how many people stop and worry about what I'm doing. I like to look at the level of detail put into mundane shit like posters plastered on walls and the atmospheric effects when my Dinklage turns on his light. No, fella, I'm not staring at the doorway because I need to pewpew shit; I'm just looking at the doorway.

Also, out of all the WutsupFAG names, sometimes you come across actual clever shit like AteBitKat.

And, we should take bets on how long before people who roll hunter switch to warlock and, eventually, titan. I rolled a hunter and will probably switch to warlock soon.

I went with Titan and am very satisfied with my choice so far. I like having the extra bulk on me, especially in PvP.

Hunter is really fun even though the aoe and crowd control take some effort. What I really meant is how it is an alluring class because of damage, but difficult to transition between pve and pvp. That and the fact that camping is virtually nonexistent.

Blade Dancer gives Hunter some good options for crowd control. They have grenades that work like plasma grenades in halo which get a huge damage and blast radius boost if you stick them on some poor fucker. Theres also a bouncy grenade which seperates when it hits something and spreads out, and its super gives you melee attacks that hit like a brick and have some pretty good tracking you can move across the screen just by mashing the trigger. That said as good as it is after youre done hacking at shit getting away from the middle of the crowd if you didnt manage to kill everyone can be a problem

Definitely liking the game more the more I play. The moon already seems way more interesting than Old Russia. I really like the Fusion Rifle. I got the third weapon slot too and some new abilities (knife throw is really cool), so that adds to the fun. Also played some with Greenman. It is infinitely more fun with a friend than alone.

My favorite moments so far are Avid trying to jump to loot chests and failing in a SPECTACULARLY awesome way, and me and Greenie racing towards the enemy sparrows and then immediately start shooting the hell out of each other. There were so many awesome moments but those were the funniest so far.

Greenie said there is a 3 vs 3 option and I agree we need to game night that shit. If co-op is this hilarious I can only imagine vs.

A new story segment with the Awoken Queen sounds pretty good. There werent many notable characters in this game, but out of them all i liked her the best

The Destiny companion app and Bungie.net leave much to be desired. They're both seemingly thrown together. They should look at how Ubisoft has treated the Black Flag and Watch_Dogs apps. Maybe that's the plan /shrug

Killzone 3 had a decent website for their multiplayer. Man, I loved Killzone 3's online play. I was as good online in that game as I am in FIFA, if not better.
