Solid showings from Nintendo and Microsoft. Actual new Nintendo IPs? Wow. Not crazy about more 2d platformers (it was a great idea about 7 years ago. I'm not buying a new system just to play a genre that was perfected before I was born) but everything combined could convince me to make the WiiU my next console. Splatoon looks great, too. If they had shown a new Metroid as well, this would be a no-brainer

Microsoft has some stuff I really don't care for but then they also have Halo, a platinum exclusive, and Sunset Overdrive (the best game of the show.) It's hard to get too excited for Forza Horizon 2 with the microtransaction nonsense going on in that series now (apparently it's a big deal that Forza 5 is getting Nurburgring, a track any respectable racing sim would have, as free DLC. That right there tells me the series jumped the shark) Some of the older series' coming back might be exciting but I never played the originals.

Sony has LBP3 and Uncharted 4. Two games I'll begrudgingly buy. Timed exclusivity for No Man's Sky, which is just stupid (the timed exclusive, not the game itself. Nobody cares about timed exclusive anything.) The Order 1886 has already entered 'meh' territory for me. But they do have the From exclusive which is nearly a trump card for me. And Grim Fandango is a nice touch. Apart from that, Sony basically slept through e3 as far as I'm concerned.

My info seems kind of limited though. I missed the conferences and there's no roundup of info for Sony that I can find. Also, I only found one brief mention of this Project Steam thing and googling it only gets me results about trains

Sounds awesome. I only hope the environment isn't all pitch black and repetitive.

Glad it's a Ps4 exclusive just so I can watch PC fanboys whine. They've already started and it's glorious

Devil's Third looks amazing a cover shooter with melee combat like Ninja Gaiden. Multiplayer looks really fun too. Ton of ridiculous looking modes. I just want to go online and throw swords at people though. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

I thought it looked rough both from a gameplay and visual standpoint. Changing to first person for shooting seems like a super weird decision too. I like the idea of the game though. I hope it turns out better than it currently looks to me.

I'll agree with the first person thing. I'm hoping theres a toggle, but besides that it looks amazing to me it looks to be exactly what i want out of a shooter.

Here is last year's E3 Awards thread:

https://theplaystation.forumotion.com/t126-our-e3-2013-awards-thread

Any awards that should be added or removed? I think we could go for a Top 10 this year. I counted 20 some games I was excited for shown there. Also kind of fun to look back at how things differed last year.

As always I'm playing catchup with you guys since I've been working and hte time difference is weird etc etc. But it does seem like there was a big focus on games for once and that is a good sign. Not as many new IPs as I'd like but I doubt there ever will be.

I've seen the presentation/dude talking about it Zelda trailer but is there a more traditional trailer out there floating about? Also, what was Nintendo's new IP?

No, just that bit. But that thing at the end combined with the way they described it was enough to get me on the hype board. As for Nintendo's new IP, it's called Code Name STEAM, and it's an alternate history filled with steampunk superheroes in I think 1800's or Victorian London where they fight Lovecraftian inspired aliens with an artstyle inspired by Jack Kirby's comics (Silver Age Avengers/Captain America/Hulk). Gameplay looks to be like Advance Wars or Fire Emblem except your characters can aim shoot manually when you order them to like Valkyria Chronicles. Sounds like your kind of thing. Here's a leaked image

And there's also Splatoon like Kay mentioned. Basicaly a 4v4 shooter where your squirting ink as squids everywhere on the environment rather than hitting each other.

I'm kind of torn between it because the style is exactly my thing: Artstyle inspired by comic books, a goofy premise that involves Abe Lincoln (seriously, no president mixes with goofy better than Lincoln. It's got to be the hat), superheroes vs aliens. Just the gameplay may not be what I'm after. But Intelligent Systems have made some of the few SRPGs I like, and my favorite ones at that so I'll give it a whirl. Maybe setting them somewhere like this rather than a medieval time or just "WAR" is what I need to really get into the genre.
