Re: Now Playing
I was the opposite. With The Last of Us I had to force myself away from it, could plow through that game in one go easily if I wanted to make time in a day to do nothing but that. It didn't really have any moments where I wanted to stop, every transition from one area to another kept me still interested in what would happen next. With Ni No Kuni I was looking for excuses to stop playing. Hope that changes later.

Re: Now Playing
I think I'm gonna rent The Last of Us via Redbox. I've heard too many great things about it already. That and BioShock Infinite!
Re: Now Playing
Bioshock Infinite was great too, though more for the story than gameplay. Gameplay was good enough, but there are better shooters. The world and story (particularly the ending) were so damned amazing though I loved it anyways.

#TeamTheLastOfUs Not just Game of the Year, Game of the Generation!
I'd say more, but I remember how upset spiddy was when I let it slip there was a brick in the game in this thread. Don't want to get him all riled up again.

Re: Now Playing
I liked The Last of Us, but I'm only like halfway through it, and then I got sidetracked by the two games I'm playing now. Still want to finish it, but I'm too deep into Tales of Xillia and Dragon's Crown.

Re: Now Playing
Mass Effect still gets my vote for Game of the Generation Trip. Though it's a respectable second to that, wasn't a single moment I disliked.

Re: Now Playing
Volvo's comment makes me want to crack open and try to complete Mass Effect 2 now, too.
Re: Now Playing
One reason it was easy for me to put The Last of Us down was due to the type of game it is. It's a survival horror game, and let's face it at times it can be stressful to play. I'd get to a room full of clickers and I'd be like, "Man, how am I gonna sneak past all of them?" For me it was a game I'd play in smaller doses because you've got to constantly be alert. Ni No Kuni, I'd just run around plowing through familiars stress/worry free. Once I found my way past a hard section in TLoU, I'd be like "Now I deserve a break." Sucks that Oliver's mom died, but I'd rather be walking around his shoes than Joel's.

Re: Now Playing
This stuff all the way. I found TLOU to be a very exhasting, stressful experience myself, although it's had some very good moments with more to come. I will confess that I'm also not much of a stealth gamer. I prefer to plow through enemies, and TLOU requires loads of stealth. I don't mind stealth in small doses, but I have my limits as to how much sneaking and crawling around I can tolerate. Given the choice of sneaking past enemies or nuking the shit out of them, I always choose the latter.BretBaber wrote:One reason it was easy for me to put The Last of Us down was due to the type of game it is. Ni no Kuni was pretty difficult in areas, too, but that's a kind of difficulty that makes me want to rise to the challenge of beating it. It was supremely awesome to level up my familiars and crush the hell out of monsters that had been giving me problems earlier. Plus, I just liked walking around and looking at all the eye candy. Hamelin kind of reminded me of my first time walking around Midgar.

I just beat ME2 last night for the 8th time. To say I love that game is an understatement

Re: Now Playing
How many times have you played through the entire trilogy, start to finish, with a single save file that carried through all three games? Just curious.volvocrusher wrote:I just beat ME2 last night for the 8th time. To say I love that game is an understatement

Re: Now Playing
I like stealth, but I didn't know how hard it would be to come across bullets, so I rarely shot my guns. That just made the game even more stressful!
There was no worry like that in Ni No Kuni. Out of magic, I'll just bash this familiar in the head until he pops out a blue glim for me to replenish my magic.
Even though I loved the old Resident Evil games growing up, I would play them the same way. I'd clear a couple rooms and put the game down. Too much stress isn't good for the heart!

I'm on my 5th playthrough doing that overall and my 3rd marathoning through all three. This puts me as playing 3 as every class except Soldier. And fuck Soldier.

Re: Now Playing
I just finished Bioshock
- Spoiler:
- I thought the ending was anti-climactic. I beat Fontaine first try with two weapons, so that was ridiculously easy. And then it was a minute long ending. I got the nice guy ending btw.
The "would you kindly" revelation was really cool though. I knew that phrase had significance due to a certain someone's username so I would notice whenever Atlas said it, but I still had no idea what it actually meant.
I guess I was anticipating another Infinite level ending. Other than that, a great game.

Re: Now Playing
Pretty sure everyone agrees the original Bioshocks ending is underwhelming.
But now that Bioshock is ever so barely in the conversation I can finally post this.

Yeah, Bioshock's ending was dumb. At least Infinite ended at the right time

I'm really enjoying the hell out of what I have played of the Last of Us. Just annoying that I've only managed to play it in bursts every few weeks...

Re: Now Playing
Been playing Arkham Asylum and I love it but that final boss fight is so fucking stupid. The end parts of the game suck too much beating up thugs not enough stealth, and doing other Batman things. Think I'll give it a rest and beat the end boss after i've played SRIV a bit and aren't so bored of punching random thugs.
Re: Now Playing
I am still working on Saint's Row 3. It's been tamer than I anticipated save one mission that had me cringing a lot. It really is a fun time though. Reminds me of San Andreas though the map isn't nearly as cool I don't think.
I also started up a Survivor + run on The Last of Us. I just had the itch to play again.

Re: Now Playing
Saints Row 4 is even more ridiculous than 3. God those first few missions had me laughing the entire time. It slows down for a bit afterwards but by that time you have fucking super powers, and crazy ass weapons. ALL the special weapons are hilarious and awesome, and theres even special guns in the normal categories too. Those weapons feel like stuff out of Ratchet and Clank.
I also got Mass Effect Trilogy for PS3 cause why not, also my XBOX is a piece of shit, and really cant hold all of ME3's DLC.

Was that the one where you wake up naked and drugged out in the whore house?TripOpt55 wrote:I am still working on Saint's Row 3. As for SR4, it's great so far. Really addicting collecting things in the sandbox, the powers are a blast to use. Plus more Kinzie than 3, always a good thing.

Anyone getting the Killzone Vita beta trial? If so, if you see me on we should form a team.

I'll give it a try. Just cleared a bunch of space on my Vita from deleting all the shit games I've reviewed.

Re: Now Playing
Seems as if there is only one map. You can also do warzone. I'm a bit disappointed it is different from the warzones in KZ2 and KZ3. I get what you're supposed to do on the Hacker objective, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to hack the damn thing. If anyone can figure that out, let me know. Gonna look up some info on how to do that.

Re: Now Playing
Every main mission in SRIV has had me laughing so hard it makes it hard to play. The game is brilliant. The sandbox is great, all the crazy shit from SRIII and more. I love this game so much.
Re: Now Playing
I have no idea how to hack either. I don't get what they were thinking there. Maybe the SP explains it.

Re: Now Playing
Common sense tells me it is the shape that is missing from the center piece, but whenever I click it it doesn't do a damn thing. Sometimes I'll click something and then the center and it turns green, but nothing happens. Killzone is the only game where I care about the victory and not my stats, but I'll be damned if I just keep going back to die for something I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it.volvocrusher wrote:I have no idea how to hack either.
