Haha! The fight against The End was so cool. I've just beaten The Fury on it.
This game, it's so fucking good. I'm talking legit top 10 material.

So I tried more of Beyond today, but emo Ellen Page is where I draw the line. Fuck this game, I'm done and trading it in.

Re: Now Playing
Well, that's MGS3 finished. The gameplay was fantastic for the most part despite having to trudge through menus over every little thing. The boss fights were brilliantly executed even though the characters themselves being pretty uninteresting when it came to the Cobra unit. Not only does it have the best gameplay and best boss fights, but also the most enjoyable... Cutscenes. I was really enjoying them this time around, probably because they actually gave you good chunk of gameplay before giving you another minutes worth of dialogue. That and they were just entertaining as all hell, Ocelot and his revolvers was some badass shit.
The only thing that might stop it from being top 10 material is the everything from the
Now... It's time for the MGS4 replay. Time for shitty writing and "guys check out dis mad nostalgia instead of doing something worthwhile with the gameplay" if I remember correctly.

- Volgin fight onwards. I found Volgin to be a really uninteresting enemy mostly because his design itself was so bog-standard. The fight itself also felt the least creative
and the most bullshitty, just throwing him to the ground and shooting him isn't fun. Then there's the constant "THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM" tier bollocks which dragged on for way too long and remained uninteresting, especially when you have to use the rockets and can just unequip/equip to instantly reload. Escorting Eva was also pretty awful. Thankfully the fight against the Boss and the HOLYSHITLOOKATTHESEPEOPLEPLAYINGRUSSIANROULETTEESQUESHITSOCOOL HOLYSHITLOOKNOWTHEGAMEISMAKINGMEPLAYRUSSIANROULETTEESQUESHITOHSHITPLEASEHELP scene with Ocelot was some 10/10 quality video games. Not only that but the final scene with Big Boss and the President etc was some AMAZING. This is what happens when Kojima knows to show instead of telling. :_______;7

Still making my way through MGS3. Just beat The Fury. Love this game. The End boss battle was awesome and it took 45 min give-or-take to finish.

Re: Now Playing
I remember I got MGS3 for Christmas and played through the end fight, completely engrossed in it. Finished it, let out a sigh, looked at my watch and realized it was somehow 4AM already. Great game.

I'm playing Silent Hill 2 and wondering why every survival horror game has to do this " walk around for hours and find 84 extremely poorly highlighted items on the ground" thing.

Re: Now Playing
yeah, it does that. I have a strong argument for why Silent Hill 2 is fucking amazing in spite of, or in part because of its mechanics though. And by strong I mean it's what I think...so it's probably not all that strong.
I'd like to say i'm blazing through my backlog, those games that I started like The Witcher 2 and Cave Story, but in actuality I've just spending all my time replaying ME2. *sigh*

I'm playing Silent Hill 2 and wondering the same thing Aja. But it's just okay enough for me to keep playing. Those things sliding on the ground especially creep me out.

Re: Now Playing
I beat Nier today and its one of my favorite games, but at the same time so many things about are so mediocre, and its graphics are some of the worst ive seen. Yet its story, characters, and music carry it so well. Some of the best writing in modern gaming. The ending makes you feel terrible, but at the same time happy. It's a lot like TLOU's ending.
Some context on the ending if you dont intend to play it

- Spoiler:
- The game tells you the main enemies in the game are basically human souls and the bodies of actual humans are built to house them. As in the games characters are just placeholders for those bodies cause humans lost their physical form 1000 years ago. It then sends you not so shortly afterwards into rooms fully of tiny Shades who drop items called "Used Coloring books" and you have to kill them to continue. HOLY SHIT THAT MADE ME FEEL TERRIBLE.
Re: Now Playing
Everyone playing Silent Hill 2, enjoy. Fantastic game.

- Did you guess da tweeest before the reveal? I got it pretty much as soon as the game started but everyone else I've spoken to about it was really surprised. The thing that really pissed me off with the NIER narrative was the section midway through where Kaine sacrifices herself and it's all ;________;7, then it does a fucking 10 year timeskip or whatever straight after that and your first quest is to bring her back to life. Just really ruined the moment and sense of "Ohshit, this just got real" for me.
You doing the other 3 playthroughs for it?

Both of those scream bargain bin to me. Especially since I'm getting a PS4 soon

Re: Now Playing
The part in the Aerie before the last dungeon kind of foreshadows the ending. I like how it builds up to it.
and yeah I'm going for the other endings new game plus starts with half the game complete so it shouldnt be too hard.

Re: Now Playing
I'm glad you finally played Nier and enjoyed it. It really is something special and I was impressed by the story too. New Game plus does something that makes it super depressing. I should try for the other endings sometime but the requirements were a bit time consuming if I remember correctly..

Re: Now Playing
Oh god it makes you feel like an awful person for being overleveled and indestructible. No other game has done that.
I'm ordering the first 2 Drakengard games off amazon gonna try playthrough the series again before 3. Though i really dont know about getting all the endings in the first. As amazing as its writing is the fucking gameplay is shit. I probably wouldnt even be thinking of playing it again if 3 wasnt coming over here haha.
I forgot most things about that game I played it back when i was a filthy casual and was terrible at games. I heard a song from it and decided i had to have it and lol i had no idea. Still it is probably one of the games that help shape my tastes in games as well as other media, but goddamn I'm both excited and scared to play it again.

Re: Now Playing
Just finished Metal Gear Solid 3 on the Vita. Holy shit, what a game. I could care less about Volgin and I had difficulty sneaking in and out of that weapons facility and The Sorrow boss battle felt too goofy. However, the motorcycle chase, leading Eva out of the forest and that fucking amazing fight with The Boss (who wasn't a pushover; it took me 5 tries). Yep, easily my favorite of the series so far. And I still have MGS4 on my shelf, eagerly waiting.

Bret, I haven`t played Peace Walker yet. I`ll have to check that out someday.

I've actually been confused by the "could/couldn't care less" phrase for years. Everyone says "could," but that never makes sense in context. Grammar nazis are welcome in this case :p

Re: Now Playing
Fair enough. I`ll rephrase: I didn`t find Volgin to be an interesting character. He`s a one-dimensional, Snidley Whiplash brand of villain. He`s boring and I wish there wasn`t a three stage fight with him. At the end, all I wanted to do fight The Boss. It`s a minor quibble.
