Speaking of, that's the only Radiohead song I dig. I bought OK Computer way back when out of peer pressure and still don't like it. Creep was a good song on whatever that album was (Pablo Honey?). Then again, what do I know since I mostly listen to outlaw country and 90's rap. C'est la vie.

My girlfriend doesn't mind most music that I listen to (she's a pop station girl), but she absolutely hates when Radiohead is on. If we're ever in a car and she's pissed at me though, I can always turn on Radiohead though.

Sun Kil Moon's Benji is one of the year's best. Emotionally devastating at times, too.

My Spotify Premium subscription ran out yesterday and I haven't renewed it yet. I've been wanting to give Beats Music a try and I don't see the point in subscribing to 2 music streaming services at once. I still have a week in my free trail so I'll keep experimenting with this until I decide to purchase.

Ever since I watched Jackie Brown I've been on a huge 70's soul kick. I mean, it's always in my rotation but I'm talking about actually looking through my old CDs and CD rip files. If Pandora didn't suck so hard now I'd make some playlists. As it is, I'm ripping what I hadn't already and creating my own.

My music collection rivals my video games collection. Even after losing a bunch of CDs and HDDs with rips on them.

I think one of my problems with Jackie Brown is that I really don't like the music. Attempted to watch it yesterday and I fell asleep 45 minutes in. I"ll probably pick up where I left off today but I'm thinking the same thing will happen.

I've been listening to Phantogram which is pretty good. I'd listened to them before, but they are playing with CHVRCHES this weekend, so I figured I'd reacquaint myself.

Saw CHVRCHES today! They were great, but it was a short set. Other bands weren't very good. Cherub I just didn't care for and Phantogram who is pretty good sounded like shit for some reason.

The location was kind of a mess. It was a free concert, so the crowd wasn't good either. I assume a lot of college kids showed up just for something to do. They were kind of obnoxious too. I'm sure there is a bit of "I'm too old for this shit" going on here as well. These young kids these days with their ridiculous sunglasses. I know I'm being a curmudgeon here. I've come to terms with it. I did almost get into a fist fight with some drunk dude. That might have been fun!

Other humans always ruin concerts for me. Why did you almost get in a fight?

I tried to type out exactly why but it sounded kind of absurd when I read it back... haha. I tried to stifle an escalating situation I guess and almost ended up getting into it with that dude. I didn't feel like I was going to hit him but my brother said it sure looked like I was. I blame that terrible marijuana odor that was filling the air that we both hate so much.

The song was released a month ago, with a teaser video that just looped over and over again every 10-15 seconds. This is the actual video that was just released yesterday, with similar clips.

Oh, I thought the repeating one was the actual video. Kind of like that one video from The XX.

I don't understand music videos

Found an early leak of the new Conor Oberst album Upside Down Mountain. It definitely is better than the last two albums he's put out without the Bright Eyes name (Outer South and One of a Kind). Only one listen though and that was with the girlfriend vacuuming throughout the whole damn thing, but it seems really good.

The new Black Keys album is up on youtube. I'm loving it. El Camino was good but it was too poppy for me. This one seems to keep a lot of the catchiness of that album while adding more depth.

Wow. That first song reminds me so much of Pink Floyd's "Time". Which is probably the highest compliment any band can get this side of classical music. That's good stuff. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Normally I write off Rolling Stone darlings as shit. Man, am I wrong.

I'm very disappointed in myself. I had this CD my friend Yoshi gave me that was Japanese punk and I can't find it. It had a clip-art lobster on the cover so trying to google it ends up with Rock Lobster results. We used to let him sing for us in Japanese during practice and I think he gifted it to me as a thank you. He was timid about singing at first until we told him, look, dude, it could be your shopping list and we wouldn't fucking know. Ah, good times.

He died (to be clear, this was years ago. Not recent) of an undiagnosed heart condition while studying for finals so I'm, like, super disappointed I can't find it. I was just in the mood for some Japanese punk and that was one of my favorite albums. le sigh

Been listening to the new The Black Keys album, Turn Blue. It's pretty good, but I've found myself going back to their older stuff. Really, the new album was a reminder that I really like those guys.

Listened to Jack White's new album Lazaretto and it's really good. I personally think it's better than Blunderbuss. Best track is "Would You Fight For My Love?"

A recent Rolling Stone profile on Jack White had some interesting insight on what makes him tick. Most notably his balls on saying the Black Keys are ripping him off. Jack White calling someone out for ripping him off is fucking meta. I like his music and the Black Keys music but, come on, neither are anything close to original.

Besides, it's not like either ape shit hard like that dude who did the NBA All-Star game. I don't know his name, but he stole Elton John's "Your Song" and turned it into a travesty. I think I love rap more than anyone here but that shit is nut-punch worthy.

Yeah, I don't really agree with what Jack has been spewing lately. He's amazing and lately he's ruining his good musical image with his mouth. Maybe it's stress from his divorce making him act this way, but he needs to just shut the fuck up. He's left me shaking my head recently at his comments, and I've been a fan since 2002 of his amazing works.

Listening to the new Sharon van Etten album. I like it a lot more than her last one. I feel like Lana del Rey fans might like her voice


Also listening to the latest Swans and Parquet Courts. Any one of these might take a run at my favorite of the year so far
