Re: Now Playing
I've been playing MGR as well. Just finished the second to last chapter. I've always been horrible at these kinds of games too, but this one's fun enough to learn on. I'm almost getting to the point of not mashing buttons the whole time!

I've had enough of this. I'm packing up and going home.

Be sure to leave plenty of Back to the Future and Ghostbusters jokes before you do

Re: Now Playing
I don't know if there is a ton to discuss about MGR having not played it myself, but you are welcome to create a thread for it. Talking about it here is fine too though. Either way.
Also if you ever want to say something spoilery in a bigger thread to someone there are spoiler tags here. Just use the wrap tags like follows:
Basically just hit initial code wrap write the spoiler then hit code wrap again, but replace code with spoiler. Should look like this but with no space in spoiler:
[spoiler]Spoilery stuff[/sp oiler]
Not that anyone said anything spoilery. Just figured some people might not know.

That joke was as useless as a, a screen door on a battleship.

Currently playing Persona 3 Portable and Okami (Wii version). I like them so far, although I had a frustrating moment with the motion controls of Okami early on the game.

There's that word again: "heavy." Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?

Re: Now Playing
Either I am terrible at MGR or it is really hard sometimes. Im betting the former is true unfortunately. Its frustrating sometimes but I am still having fun.
Re: Now Playing
if you're having trouble with blade mode just line up your shot and press square it works a lot better than letting go of the stick, and when enemies limbs turn blue slice them off with blade mode. That makes some of the more annoying enemies a lot easier.
Re: Now Playing
My biggest problem is actually blocking attacks. For some reason I just cant seem to time this thing right during boss battles. I can do it sometimes but I am not consistent enough yet. Guess I just need to keep practicing.

The time is actually fairly easy it gives you a fairly long window. You just have to make sure you press the stick in the right direction. Also jumping and evading attacks works well too in many cases
Re: Now Playing
Ya MGR took a long time for me to any good. I actually find slowing down and really paying attention to what the enemy is doing helps.

Re: Now Playing
Monsoon was the battle I really had trouble with. I normally could block his initial attack but then he would keep attacking and I couldnt block the rest. I finally beat him but damn was it tough. I watched some youtube videos and they were blocking everything with ease. Made me jealous haha
Re: Now Playing
Just beat the first Uncharted. Enjoyed it. It had a couple of parts that really pissed me off (parkour moments, end boss battle - if you can call it that) but a solid game. I'm not sure whether I should launch right into Uncharted 2 or resume the Halo 4 campaign.

I love the first Uncharted - except for the last 5th of the game or so, when they reveal the...well...yeah. That bummed me out.avidacridjam wrote:Just beat the first Uncharted. Enjoyed it. I actually liked the twist in the first Uncharted more than any of the other games.

Re: Now Playing
I'm still slowly making my way through Persona 4 Golden. As much as I have enjoyed it so far, it is beginning to drag. I'm around 35 hours in and stuck in a stretch of inactivity. The summer holidays are a bit dull. Hoping it will pick up again soon.
Also playing Dragon's Dogma. It has its frustrations, but overall I'm enjoying it.

It's basically the same thing in every game, who wasn't expecting the treasure to cause Nate to fight supernatural creatures in 3?MotDrum wrote:ajapam wrote:I actually liked the twist in the first Uncharted more than any of the other games.

I just liked the enemies in 1 the most. They weren't bullet sponges like in 2, and they weren't as annoying as in 3. Plus, when the twist came in the later games it was just too familiar

Re: Now Playing
Vague Uncharted series spoilers in this post:
I loved the supernatural enemies in 1 because they caused you to use different tactics. Like running and gunning which wasn't always as viable in the other parts of the game was encouraged here and cover was not an option. I wish they would have used these ideas to switch up enemy encounters in the other games and not just towards the ends of them. 2's were clearly the worst though. Just bullet sponges. And don't try and sell me on the crossbow because there simply weren't enough of them and it didn't really make encounters that fun either. At least 3 added a different element to the combat a little I guess.

Re: Now Playing
Actually, I thought 3 held back a lot on that. There were those annoying smoke guys, but the way the story was going, I expected the final battle to be against some massive genie/demon thing. It was a brilliant bait and switch.volvocrusher wrote:It's basically the same thing in every game, who wasn't expecting the treasure to cause Nate to fight supernatural creatures in 3?MotDrum wrote:ajapam wrote:I actually liked the twist in the first Uncharted more than any of the other games.

Re: Now Playing
I just got Fire Emblem yesterday in preparation for my Florida road trip. I played an hour or two this morning and I'm digging it. I've never played a Fire Emblem, so I didn't really know what to expect. I like how you get bonuses for having allies standing near you... and the pairing system is really neat. Not quite sure how it all works yet, but that's half the fun of these type of games.
I also bought it over the eShop. I haven't been able to find the cart at a store, and the amazon price is ridiculous... like $60.
