General TV Show Discussion

I've been enjoying Almost Human as well. I really like the core duo. They have such a fun relationship and the show can be really funny (the Elton John bit for instance killed me). The setting a futuristic technology has been really cool (like the flash masks and some other bits). I do think they could maybe do a better job of making the cases a bit more unique to the futuristic setting. They've felt more and more like regular cases with some futuristic flourishes thrown in as it went on. The "Skin" episode was probably the best as far as more unique cases went I think. Also wish they'd have more of a mythology or overarching story of some kind, but that is mostly because I prefer procedurals to have something like that and Wyman did such cool stuff with Fringe's mythology.

Finished up Homeland Season 3 this weekend. Watched the whole back half of it. Was surprised how good it turned out considering the first half. Still parts I disliked a lot. Still kind of ridiculous at times, but much better. Maybe a little bit of lowered expectations helped.

Also 4 episodes into Orange is the New Black on Netflix which is pretty great. Very funny.

I really want to watch Orange is the New Black. When I saw a preview for it I thought that it looked amazing.

It was actually pretty hilarious. I watched it on Netflix and I recommend it. There are some 'serious' parts, but it all syncs together pretty well. I'm excited to see what happens in the next season.

I'm currently watching "Don't Trust the B*tch in Apt 23" and it's not bad, either - if you like the main character's sassy attitude. James Vanderbeek plays himself on the show, too. Hahah.

Last night's HIMYM had an awesome ending. 4TH SLAP!!!! Perfect way to end the episode.

I watched a couple of Don't trust the B recently as well. Definitely pretty funny. Will watch more.

I finished the first season of Continuum and really liked it. I kind of lumped it in with most SyFy channel shows and figured it was forgettable, but it is an import and actually pretty cool. Basically a cop show with a time-travel twist, but still cool. Some of the mythology stuff is pretty neat. Would advise for sci-fi fans looking for a new fix. It is on Netflix.

You watch a lot of TV, Trip. I'm impressed.

I just finished watching Orange is the new Black, finally. I had watched the pilot a while back and didn't really care for it, but I'm glad I went back to it. Its not my favorite show ever, but I did really enjoy the first season. You can definitely tell its made by the creator of Weeds! I'm glad that its on Netflix, because if I had to watch that show week-to-week I doubt I'd keep up with it.

I also started watching Arrow this afternoon. I think I'm on episode 5 now and its much better than I thought it was going to be. I have a hard time overlooking the whole CW thing... with all the shiny beautiful people and the beat you over the head romance stuff... but the action is cool and the backstory stuff is really interesting. I'll stick with it.

Roommates and I finished Firefly, ending with Serenity, the other day. I realize after watching Cowboy Bebop and this that space westerns are great. Space by itself bores me, but as soon as I heard the theme for Firefly for the first time, I knew I was going to enjoy it.

We're starting Breaking Bad now. This is the first one that my biggest TV watching roommate hasn't seen before the other two of us. No more "this is such a great episode!", at the beginning of every episode

I finished up Orange is the New Black. The first 5 seconds of the opening make me wish I were dead but I've really enjoyed the rest so far.

It's still not enough to make me subscribe to Netflix again, but if they get a few more good shows like this I'll do it. I feel like it didn't take long for me to watch every movie I wanted there

Making my way through season 2 of Arrow. This season is much more comic book-y than the first. Which sounds like a bad thing, but I actually like it, because its finally getting away from trying to be like The Dark Knight... which was my only real complaint with the first season.

Also, this season of Justified and Shameless have been awesome as always. Archer Vice will only get better as it goes. It definitely has promise to be one of the most ridiculous seasons of TV ever.

I don't know why but I have fallen behind on this season of Arrow. I have 8 episodes on my DVR. I enjoy it, but never end up watching it. I really need to catch back up.

I just finished the first season of Broadchurch. It's a British crime drama. I felt like a few episodes took too long to get to the point and one part of it felt pretty far-fetched, but I was really satisfied with how the whole thing wrapped up. There's an American remake in the works so that Americans can talk about David Tennant without watching Dr. Who or increasing the number of Dr. Who shirts on Teefury

Went through Daria on Amazon Prime. Great show, so many hilarious one liners. Also that theme song is catchy as hell.

I was at work and looked at the complete season of Daria and thought to myself "I'd like to watch that." Funny that a few days later you managed to. I never really watched it when it was on, but looking at that collection I just knew it would be a show that I would like.

Daria really was a cool show. I haven't watched that in ages.

I was really hoping it would be on Netflix but it wasn't.

If anyone has some more TV threads we can start we should throw them up.

All right if you're going to keep bugging me....I'll start the Buffy one.

Watched some Malcolm in the Middle while typing a review on Netflix. I forgot how funny this show was. Also bizarre seeing Bryan Cranston be a funny guy again.

The Walking Dead was pretty terrible last night. Carl was at his absolute annoying worst. All for some fucking pudding... I really hate when this show does split episodes where one group of characters are on one episode and the other group is the following week. I say just get on with it, already.

Carl is the worst. They killed Andrea, now give us one more gift and kill Carl.

There was a 10-second period yesterday where I thought Carl might get bit... but then I came to my senses.

He should have gotten bit on two separate occasions. They just like to cock tease us.

Just a warning to you guys: Don't get your hopes up if Carl ever gets half his head blown off, he won't die. That's just them taking something from the comics.

I think he'll be significantly less annoying as the kid who plays him grows older. He's in full on puberty this season... His voice cracks like crazy!
