Re: General TV Show Discussion
Watched the first two episodes of Man Seeking Woman. This might be the most bizarre show I've seen that isn't from Adult Swim. They have really weird scenarios like the main character's being set up on a blind date with a troll which everyone else acts like they're normal and serve as long build up to a punch line that so far have all been funny.
I'd recommend giving it a shot at least just so you can see how weird this show gets. It also nails what goes in a guy's head with dating and has some situations so awkward that they'd make season 2 of The Office look like something by Joss Whedon.

Re: General TV Show Discussion
I think it is worth watching just to see how absurd it is, but I've found it to bounce between funny/clever and horribly unfunny depending on the segment. The Hitler one and the text message warroom were great. The one with everyone congratulating him on getting the number was good too. The date one was pretty awful though. The exorcism and troll one were pretty meh to me too. It has only been a couple episodes though, so hopefully they can work out some of the kinks. At the very least it has a unique feel to it.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
Yeah, the war room one was my favorite. Love that one speech on how he's just doing it to get laid.

I know Twolf and avid are Philip K. Dick fans. Amazon is doing a show based on The Man in the High Castle. Well technically is hasn't been ordered to series, but it will be. Still a ways off, but you can watch the pilot episode here.
Really great start I thought though I haven't read the book. I'd say this is worth a try for anyone. As the link says, "The Man in the High Castle explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States."

Checked out the Agent Carter pilot. Meh. Guess Daredevil will be where I get my first good TV tie in to Marvel's movies

I had heard they were making that. I might wait until it's a couple of episodes in and see how it turns out. That might be a hard one to pull off. Good source material though.

Re: General TV Show Discussion
Watched the first two episodes of Better Call Saul (already on Netflix. This is all I ask for, TV studios) and it's much better than I expected. I never wanted any continuation or spin-off of Breaking Bad but I'll keep watching this
It's not perfect, though. Some of the cameos feel a little forced and the final scene in episode 2 felt a bit disjointed (the weirdness of seeing real-life Vaas probably didn't help there)

Personally I loved Mike's cameos. Would love if he just keeps appearing in random jobs as the series goes on.

Re: General TV Show Discussion
Been watching Hannibal this weekend. I knew this show would be fucked up, but still... it is pretty fucked up. Really good so far though. Also Scully from The X-Files just started appearing! Always a plus!
Re: General TV Show Discussion
I binged the whole first season of Kimmy Schmidt today and it is a must watch. Rapid joke delivery that has you rewinding to make sure you caught everything. Super silly world and hilarious characters (the lead is particularly excellent). Very quotable. Great guest spots. It really is the 30 Rock successor I needed in my life. Might have jumped Brooklyn Nine-Nine as my favorite comedy still going at the moment. It is awesome.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
Watched eight of the episodes and have to agree, this is a really funny show. Right now my favorite parts are the flashbacks to the bunker, a lot of great stuff there. Also surprised I'm enjoying Titus and Lilian, thought they would get old or annoying quick, but the writers give them good material.
Don't think I'd say it's better than Brooklyn though, but I'm biased there because of the cop angle. Either way, I think we can agree Brooklyn has the better gay black man.

That Netflix Daredevil show looks really good. I didn't realize Vincent D'Onofrio was in it. I love him! Also I guess it has the Spartacus showrunner at the helm. I'm excited for this now.

Has anyone else noticed how shitty AMC's HD picture looks? Specifically the walking dead.

Give it another chance in the future. I liked it from the start but it definitely improved further into the season. I'm still hoping it gets renewed.

I've been watching Banshee and man I love the fights in this. Brutal fistfights with the occasional improvised weapon. Good stuff.

I'm currently on episode 15 of season one of Fringe. Love it.

It is so cool you are watching that. It gets even better over the next couple seasons.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
Will anyone be watching True Detective Season 2? I will make a thread to discuss if so. I hope Season 2 turns out well. Reviews have been fairly mixed so far. I'm really curious to see Vince Vaugn in this role. Also I wish the showrunner didn't seem like such a jackass.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
I'll be watching it. Hoping that it is at least 1/10th of what the first season was.

I can't lie, the prospect of a good Vince Vaughn role is the main reason I'll watch it

Caught up with Silicon Valley. It's about a software designer who creates the next big thing and is trying to get his own company started out of it. Pretty funny show. Mike Judge created it and has his more subtle sense of humor where you don't realize just how funny a line is until you have enough time to process it.
Also has the funniest math joke I have ever seen in the first season finale and I've watched all of Futurama.

Re: General TV Show Discussion
I finished Orange is the New Black Season 3. I liked it quite a bit. It seemed more slice of life. Just checking in with these characters and what they were up to. But I really liked that and the move to focus more on the ensemble and less on Piper helped that work for me. Better than Season 2, but not quite as good as the first.
Re: General TV Show Discussion
I thought the pilot for Mr. Robot was really good. I didn't expect to care about something on USA, but I was really impressed. The lead actor is great and they do a good job of portraying all his issues. It even bleeds into what is shown on screen, so it helps put you in his shoes. I also thought that it did a fairly good job with hacking compared to other TV shows/movies. Seemed more realistic.

Been working through Veep. I watched a couple episodes when it first aired, but it didn't do much for me. But having watched more this time I'm really liking it. I love how harsh the VP can be and them dumping on the White House liaison.
Also been watching Humans on AMC. A solid new sci-fi show.

Checked out the first few episodes of iZombie finally. Awesome show, great twist on both the crime show and zombie genres. Looking forward to checking out more.
Also been going through Dragonball. Despite being a big DBZ fan, I never saw the whole thing from the original. And it is delightful. So much fun, lighthearted adventure as opposed to DBZ. Like when the bad guys awaken a massive Android who looks like the Frankenstein monster to take out Goku and the guy refuses because he doesn't like violence. Stuff like that just makes me smile.

I'm 3 episodes into The Americans and loving it. Every episode so far works well on it's own while moving the overarching story forward. I did feel like the first pilot raised the stakes too quickly but it seems to have backed off since then

Sundance has a new german cold-war spy thriller called Deutschland 83 that's quite good. Definitely worth a look if you don't mind subtitles. Pretty nice to look at, too
I also watched the pilot for a short-lived british series called Utopia. It's fantastic. There's only something like 12 episodes, though
