Re: Rick and Morty Discussion
Yeah definitely the best this season so far. Love how they can take a concept like Rick trying to get out of therapy and make it this absurd and violent

Re: Rick and Morty Discussion
Outside of the premiere I haven't loved the new season, but the new episodes do tend to hold up better on second viewings.
I guess personally I always found Rick and Morty great because it had a very personal core, but I'm not sure if it can sustain itself by moving that core to the forefront for every episode.
But again, still really enjoying it!

That Vindicators one is up there with my favorites. That Israel joke especially had me dying.

Re: Rick and Morty Discussion
I'm still lukewarm on this season, and fully recognize it's down to personal taste. I always liked the more random/unhinged humor of Rick and Morty. I always liked that the drama provided a good structure at its center. But now the drama to joke ratio is swapped and I'm not quite sure how to feel about it. I certainly don't feel it's bad, and usually I find myself enjoying episodes more on a rewatch, but it still feels more Dan Harmon than Justin Roiland this season.

Re: Rick and Morty Discussion
It is probably my least favorite season so far. I loved the Pickle Rick episode. Really liked the premiere. The others were in the solid to good area for me. Still good TV, but not as funny as previous seasons and not meeting the very high standards I have for the series I guess.

This week's episode was my favorite (outside of the premiere) by far. Good sci fi premise, some awesome comedy (pretty much everything out of over-confident Morty's mouth made me laugh), still good character development. And that ending song was so stupid it had us in tears.

The cut from a quick 20 minute adventure to 6 days later and the Voltron bit at the end probably got the biggest laughs out of me. Everything with Morty towards the end was hysterical too. Great episode.

I totally forgot about the Voltron drones haha!

Toxin free Morty was so great. He really made that episode for me

Re: Rick and Morty Discussion
New episode...eeeeh? I mean, return of Evil Morty was cool but I wish they would have done it in a more fun way. Hopefully the setup pays off but if it doesn't it's just a wasted episode in a show with already short seasons in my opinion.
A few good jokes to be sure (the rick factory side story was dark as shit and great) but nothing else really engaged me. I wonder if this show is going to disappear too far up its own ass (not saying it has yet), which is a shame because episodes like last week show me that it's capable of having deep characters AND a lot of laughs.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the council episode either, especially since I saw the twist coming the second I saw a Morty was running for president. This week was better. Two back to back episodes of wacky stories isn't ideal, but it did a much better job of putting humor first. That one where Rick was supposed to kill that alien especially was great.
Also Jerry stingers>stingers without Jerry.

Re: Rick and Morty Discussion
I think my favorite was the one with the light switches. I loved the bit with Summer at the end too. I definitely think they should have aimed to break up these last two episodes as opposed to putting them back to back. I did like Evil Morty showing up again in the previous episode.
Re: Rick and Morty Discussion
My favorite of the last 3 (watched them all at once since I was away) was the Morty memories one. Once again, super funny, clever premise and managed to get a lot of character develop under that.
Overall, a weaker season in my opinion. I don't know if you guys ever saw the English show Red Dwarf but it feels like it may have many of the same problems that show did (putting emotional moments first, and in doing so kind of losing what the show is about).
It's still great TV, and I'll probably buy this season when it comes out, but when the show goes into long winded monologues about its own ethos (the therapist in episode 3 and Rick to Beth in episode 9) with very little humor, it just feels a bit self indulgent.
