Re: Anticipated Games
I'm sorry Trip but that news made me burst out laughing. It's comical how many games you're excited for got delayed.

That is the proper response. In my case it was followed by weeping as I packed up my consoles and put them away for safe keeping until 2016.

It's a sign you need to catch up on MGS for 5

If I get a decent paying job I'll probably go for a PS4 as the girlfriend probably wouldn't be super into a WiiU although that's my second choice.

It's so hard to take MGS games seriously when new screenshots come out showing Big Boss driving a jeep with his ONE-EYED WOLF DOG WITH AN EYEPATCH in the passenger seat.

Re: Anticipated Games
^ If that's true, I'm saddened. Metal Gear Solid for PS1 remains my favorite game of the series due to it being the most realistic.
1. Metal Gear Solid
2. Metal Gear Solid 3
3. Metal Gear Solid 4 (favorite gameplay out of them all, though it's just too damn weird)
4. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
5. Metal Gear Solid 2
6. Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Ground Zeroes is too short to include, but it is really fun to play. They should have thrown in multiplayer. I don't count the Acid games and Rising, and I've never played the NES games or the Game Boy color game.

That actually sounds right up my alley. And if we're ranking them I'd say
1. MGS3
2. MGS1
3. MGS:PW
4. MGS:GZ
5. MGS4
6. MGS2
7. MGS:PO

Re: Anticipated Games
Is it possible to skip the story stuff in Ground Zeroes? I am wondering how the modern controls are and would like to try it. I think it has crouch walking and over the shoulder aiming in the newer ones right?
Re: Anticipated Games
You can definitely skip the story stuff, but there's only one MGS3 spoiler in it and the things on the cover of the game (Snake losing an eye). Everything else ties into PW Â which I barely remembered story wise (like it entirely for the gameplay) and I followed the story just fine. And it does have those controls. They're incredibly smooth too

Re: Anticipated Games
I think MGS1 was my favorite for the same reason. I mean, I wouldn't call it "realistic" but it's craziness fit within the story it was telling. MGSV on the other hand, Snake is rubbing the ashes of his dead friend on his face as a symbol of war and then he's solving crimes with his pirate wolf dog.
I believe we call that "tonal inconsistency".

Re: Anticipated Games
See, I'm fine with that as long as they never act like any of the stuff like that dog is weird. MGS has a ton of weird stuff in it (increasingly so too) but it does it all so straight faced that I love when they do that. Every other series that tries stuff like that revels in how weird it is, but MGS (save Rising and some aspects of 4) acts like all this is as normal as Snake holding a gun

Re: Anticipated Games
I guess I came to the forum at the wrong time. It isn't a big deal (I've had much worse spoiled for me), but spoiler tags are the ones that say spoiler. Plus there is a preview button if you need to check if what you did works. Hidden tags makes it so only logged in members can see something I believe. So it pretty much just highlights it for me... haha.
Re: Anticipated Games
So Dragon Quest VII and VIII are coming to 3DS, that's pretty cool I guess. Would be a good game to have on the go. BUT, that said, I'd rather have an HD remaster of VIII than a 3DS port.

Re: Anticipated Games
I very much agree with you about an HD remaster. Â Playing on the go is awesome, but that game in HD would look so beautiful. Â Not really sure how I feel about adding two characters as well, because it wasn't really necessary since the original cast was so great, you know what I mean, guv?
I'm excited for VII though since I've never played that. Â Dragon Quest games as a whole just might be better than Final Fantasy in my opinion.
Also, sorry Trip. It really isn't too much of a spoiler though.

Re: Anticipated Games
Third on the HD remaster for PS4 or Wii U for DQVIII, but if DQ7 and DQ8 really are coming I will definitely be buying them. If Square Enix ever decides to release DQI-II and DQIII on 3DS Virtual Console I'll be able to play almost the entire series on my 3DS.
The latest rumors about Dragon Quest XI suggest it will be an offline RPG made for a home console, if Yuji Hori's words are any indication.

Dragon Quest I-III on my iPhone are great, and I'm sure they're on Android too. Plays great, looks great, and sounds great. I think they're normally $3, $5, and $10, but I got them all when they were on sale.

Re: Anticipated Games
Looks like Dragon Quest XI is hitting Japan Spring 2017, offline RPG for PS4, 3DS and possibly NX, with unique features for each platform. Can't wait.

Re: Anticipated Games
I'm hoping to get Tearaway Unfolded this week. It sounds like they added a pretty good amount of content and I look forward to seeing how it comes together. The Vita game was awesome.
Re: Anticipated Games
Anyone getting Mario Maker this week? Feels like a game that will probably be better a little while after launch when people have had a chance to make some quality levels.
Re: Anticipated Games
For some reason I haven't been interested in Mario Maker at all. Gonna be all about Hatsune Miku Project Mirai this week for me!

Re: Anticipated Games
I'm not sure about Mario Maker yet. I'm certain that it will be easier to make good levels than in LittleBigPlanet but a lot of the most impressive creations in those games aren't even platformer levels.

Re: Anticipated Games
I have no reason to get that game with MGSV keeping me busy and like you said, waiting will only mean a better game awaits me. It looks fun, I'm just not big on creating my own levels. Too much work for that little a payoff.

Re: Anticipated Games
I'm going to try and rent it. It does seem like it'd be perfect to mess around with while half-watching some football.
Re: Anticipated Games
I feel like the only time I'd enjoy something like Super Mario Maker personally would be if I played it with a bunch of friends to bounce ideas off of. I'm not very creative in that way really...if you are, it looks like an awesome creator tool.
