Re: Anticipated Games
Now I just got the image in my head of some rule 34 called Console Whores featuring the Xbone and PeniS4. Which I just made up but am 100% sure exists somewhere on the internet, with that exact description.

Speaking of google search, my face no longer pops up first nor at all when you do an image search for "jail cock". This disappoints me more than it should.

Re: Anticipated Games
The Zelda delay was kind of expected, but it is weird it won't be at E3. I would be very disappointed if the Wii U didn't get an exclusive Zelda game. Not saying that is happening, but some have suggested the possibility and it would be lame.
Re: Anticipated Games
Awesomesauce, we're getting a Dissidia: Final Fantasy game on PS4. It's being co-developed by Square Enix and Koei Tecmo (Team Ninja to be exact). It'll have a year of arcade exclusivity in Japan before it comes to PS4, if I recall correctly.

Re: Anticipated Games
Trailer looked pretty cool. Is there a good campaign in these games or is it more multiplayer-focused? I have only the vaguest memories of this series.
Re: Anticipated Games
Well they said the single player will be based on short missions on the maps, all of which you can play with a friend. Sounds like a challenge version of Battlefront 2's campaign where you'd be on a MP map and complete a variety of tasks: need to take out X number of soldiers, capture a base, defend an area, etc.

Is no one else having a nerdgasm over the all-cg Deus Ex trailer? Just me? That's alright, I freely admit I have a disproportionate love of that series/cyberpunk games in general.

I might get Battlefront day one if they confirm that you don't have to unlock garbage for vehicles. Well, week one so I can at least hear how well it works first

Re: Anticipated Games
Not sure on Battlefront after reading up on it a bit. I may give it a go if others here are playing the multiplayer a lot. Since Destiny was a flop really haven't had any cool multiplayer games with people on here on PS4. I am more excited for the Visceral/Amy Hennig Star Wars game.
Re: Anticipated Games
I know it sounds jaded but I"m nervous with EA backing it. Their support with Battlefield games has been less than stellar.
*sigh* I still remember when Battlefield was fun ;_;

I wrote that game off as vaporware months ago until they started showing stuff again. Now that there's finally a gameplay trailer, I'm on board... After I beat the phantom pain

Here is the Banjo Spiritual Successor from some old Rare guys. I like the character designs. I wasn't a huge fan of the Banjo games, but I will take these types of games where I can get them. The little video snippets look pretty good.

Re: Anticipated Games
I'm not all that crazy about Banjo either. Too much of a collectathon for me. I won't complain about more 3d platformers, though. I hope it's good

Re: Anticipated Games
I liked Banjo a lot. Jak and Daxter is definitely the best of that subgenre, but Banjo did a damn fine job of that too as long as you weren't trying to 100% it. Really looking forward to this one.

Re: Anticipated Games
It has been forever since I played Banjo. How does the platforming stack up against Jak or Mario 64? I don't recall there being as much of a focus on platforming as either of those, but maybe I am misremembering. I like the way the mechanics look in the video for this and I thought Banjo was good mechanically too. These worlds seem really open so far, so you don't really see them put to the test yet.
Re: Anticipated Games
Banjo was actually more about exploration than those, but I do remember a few platforming challenges later on. I mostly like it above Mario 64 since the controls are so much better. Jak's controls destroy both games though.

I am too... The main game was one of my favorites from last year. Such a fun surprise. Especially for a FPS.

Re: Anticipated Games
I didn't catch up on some of things talked about in the Splatoon Direct until now, but man there are some baffling decisions being made with that game.
-Only two maps available during each four hour period.
-You won't be able to team up with friends and play against other people at launch. You can join friends in matchmaking, but it will randomize teams. Teaming up with friends and private matches will be added three months later.
-How barebones it is from a modes standpoint at launch (one to start and then another unlocked when people reach Level 10 or something... then more three months later).
-No voicechat (this isn't unexpected or news, but is still stupid, so I'm adding it).
That second point makes me think of how sometimes in Uncharted it would randomly put Matt on the opposing team. That will pretty much be an intentional feature in Splatoon. Sorry if I got some of these wrong, but I think it covers the gist of them. And well... ugh.

Wait, the four hour period thing is carrying over to the main game? Ugh.

I have no idea what Nintendo is thinking with Splatoon. Core gameplay sounds awesome, but fuck they have no clue how to handle matchmaking

Re: Anticipated Games
To be honest, I always had a lot of fun when I got thrown on the other team. I saw there was no voice chat for that game... so I assume any game nights would have to be done with Skype... or even using PS4 party chat... which is absurd but its the best solution.

Re: Anticipated Games
I think what bothers me about this is, as Greenman pointed out, so much about the game looks great. The gameplay is really unique and fun. I love the graphics and character designs. So these other things hurt because it looks like it could otherwise hamper a promising game. And despite my bitching about voice chat, I think the lack of content is the bigger issue. One mode and five maps at launch is weak for a multiplayer focused game. And some of the matchmaking things are just... why?
Re: Anticipated Games
This is why I'm renting at launch. I'll play the single player and have my fill of the MP. If I have an itch to play more of either down the road then I'll know for sure if it's worth owning.

Re: Anticipated Games
I'll be renting it too, but I rent everything except a select few titles these days. If something I'm renting is really awesome I usually just keep it or buy it a bit cheaper down the road.
Re: Anticipated Games
Ratchet & Clank must have started feeling lonely and decided to join the rest of the games I'm excited for in 2016. Gaming in 2015? Blah.
