Where did you guys preorder your ps3?  I'm thinking about doing that from Wal-Mart, but I'm not sure if it is going to come day 1.  What do you guys know on the different places doing preorder?

I just went with Amazon. Ordered it right after the Sony conference so I'm guaranteed to get a launch one

I did the same as Greenman. I don't get how retailer pre-orders work. Some say they still work first come first serve amongst pre-orders. Instead of just cutting off pre-orders when their allotted would run out. Honestly happy I won't have to deal with trying to get one at a store.

Edit: Amazon isn't taking pre-orders for launch day anymore either. Those ran out that night I believe.

Yeah I just saw that it wasn't available on amazon.  Working at wal-mart I'd like to get it from there so I could save myself $40.  I'd love to pre-order if I could guarantee that I'd get it the day of launch.  One time I got Red Dead Redemption and it came like 3 days later.

I'm waiting for Amazon's Canadian offers. Unless they somehow sold out already. It just says it's unavailable right now and no bundles are shown so assume that's not the case

When it comes to Amazon, they usually have good stock since a lot of pre-orders get cancelled. It's still a shot in the dark but get in quick if you're going that way.

I'm holding off until launch and trying my luck retail. There aren't any games I want so far that are day one. I drive by Best Buy, two Gamestops and a Wally-World and a Target 3 days a week so I'm not stressing it. I won't do a midnight thing though.

Bret, my advice is to do retail and not worry about pre-orders. If you don't snag it then OMG, it'll be available when it has some games

I want/need Killzone though.  walmart.com will not let me use my discount as well, which is bull shit.

I'm actually pretty excited for Killzone after I read up for it. Read that levels are going to just drop you in a map, give you objectives, and let you figure out the rest which sounds a lot like Perfect Dark, Crysis and the original Halo. Something which I am very much in favor of. Really anything change from Killzone 2's structure is something I'm in favor of.

Yeah, I feel bad about the guy, he's just doing his job so I understand.

Yeah the Killzone demo at E3 was pretty impressive. Much more open from the look of it.

I'm not excited for anything at launch for the PS4 so I'll hold off but unless anything goes awry with the hardware or games they said were coming aren't I'll be picking one up eventually.

This is news to me. My excitement for Killzone just doubled.

Huh. Killzone certainly sounds interesting then. I just hope they go back to K2 in terms of feeling instead of KZ3 which had 0 weight to it which made it feel disgusting accompanied by the insane tier popular skinnerbox tactics that weren't anywhere near the fucking 2nd one.

I noticed they have launch bundles on Amazon available now for people looking to pre-order still. One with Knack, one with Watch Dogs, one with BF4, and one with Killzone. The first two are just the price of the PS4 and the game. The BF4 and KZ ones come with a PS+ subscription but you'd save ten dollars on that sub I guess (basically those two are $500). Looks like they are available for launch day delivery.

That said, people will still buy it. Some people just don't care about it. They figure they already have an iphone, you buy from an app store and can only have that app on your own machine and so MS's logic isn't going to be anything revolutionary.  Or they just wont care out of principle. I can't lend games to my friends on Steam (which is a shame admittedly), but I still love the platform. So in that respect, yeah, MS is fucking up mostly in the eyes of the "hardcore" (or just more informed) gamer but a good marketing push and they'll still sell consoles. My sincere hope is i'm wrong once again (not unheard of) and Microsoft indeed bombs its sales and I can laugh at their faces.

That said, I feel REAL REAL bad for the people working in Microsoft's PR department right now. They've got a hell of a job on their hands.

According to my browser app for Steam, I have purchased over 80 titles for $110. When M$ can claim that kind of value- and do shit on Xbone like, say, any given computer does, I'll cut them some slack.

As it is, last time I checked consoles were gaming machines. Fuck, M$ hasbeen on an invade the living roomkick since the 1st Xbox one.

Also, if Apple is your business model, might want to reevaluate and follow the NSA. Except the NSA probably isn't as shitty or shady

Yes, that is a very glaring oversight on my part. And you're exactly at the heart of the matter I think. As far as Steam goes it's VERY much on the side of the consumer. Even stuff like me preordering a game that included a bonus game I already owned: the fact that steam just gave me and extra copy to gift without me asking for it shows that they're on the customers side. They could have easily just said "well you already have it so tough luck." 

But yeah, you're totally right.

I was reading an article with a dude from Big N commenting on the Xbone debacle. He said exactly what everyone would expect; they make games people won't want to trade in.

M$ rightfully catches shit, but some things they do are really just poor planning. Example: I would never use Windows 8 on my desktop but I don't mind it on my Surface Pro.

I thought of something today: When the PS4 launches, it'll only be $100 more than the 360 with twice as big of a hard drive. The remodel having the same price makes me wonder if MS will drop the price this holiday season or if they're really planning to sell 8 year old technology for just $100 less than a brand new console.

I've read rumors on numerous sites about PS3 and 360 dropping to $200. Sure you probably have too. Seeing as how both companies are going to ride each console for a couple more years, I don't think anything sub $200 will happen.

Hey T-Wolf, I was just looking at an article on Kotaku that had a screenie of code that looks to enable game-sharing. The part that looks interesting:

"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicense_Title" "Shared game library"

Someone apparently found that in the new client beta. There's a few more lines of code with direct messages for the client. It's still interesting even though it's incomplete and without much context.

I went to ebgames and added to cart and it looked available. Maybe it's for in-store at Gamestop and not ebgames the website? Certainly is interesting if anyone can confirm.

Watched Jimmy Fallon because he had a demo of Knack on his show. It looked pretty awful. Graphics specifically. Gameplay looked underwhleming but typical for a launch title. But that's just, like, my opinion, man.
