I would pick up a WiiU if it were $50 cheaper. I too am shocked they aren't trying to compete in that way, Baber

I'm wondering if they can afford to. That Gamepad isn't cheap and Nintendo generally sells consoles and handhelds for a profit.

A price cut wouldn't make any real difference in the sales compared to the money they'd lose from it.

Got the New Xbox One Update. Haven't explored it too much, but it seems much better than the previous one which was a mess. Also have a handful of backwards compatible games to download. I never finished BattleBlock Theater, so may try playing that again.

Can anybody think of any good games I'd like I might have missed this year? Hoping to tackle some stuff I never got to before the year's end. If Ori's Definitive Edition doesn't come soon, I will probably grab the regular version. Otherwise hoping to rent Zelda and maybe Mad Max.

Grow Home seems like your thing Trip. A bit short, but a lot of fun. Other than that......fuck this year has been mediocre.

I couldn't stand the controls of Grow Home, so I deleted it after an hour of playing it. I really wanted to like it though because the premise and graphics were charming.

It's not a new game, but I think you'd like an old PS1 classic called Brave Fencer Musashi. It's been a long time since I played it though, so I couldn't tell you how well it has aged. Finding a copy is probably impossible though. I always wished Square would bring that to the PSN.

Grow Home seems really divisive based on its controls. I still never re-upped my PS+, so missed it when it was "free" on there. Might be something I try and give a go before year's end though.

I am always thinking of my year-end top ten list for both games and TV. I only have seven games I think are top-ten worthy, so I was kind of hoping to find some other stuff.

I like Gone Home. It's a bit wonky but, as a longtime Driver fan, playing a good Reflections game with wonky walking controls is charming in a way.

The Game Awards and PSX are both coming up this week. Should be some cool announcements. I think Game Awards will have ten world premieres in the Game Awards meaning, so not ten new games announced, just like new footage or something like that. I guess new stuff on Far Cry Primal and Quantum Break are two of them I think?

Not sure what PSX holds. Earlier in the year Sony Santa Monica basically said the new God of War would be there. Not sure if that has changed, but I'd love to see anything on that.

I'd love to see more of that new Guerilla game, though I think yet another Uncharted trailer would be more likely. Half-Life 3 would be nice but I'm not putting it on my bingo sheet

I would expect Horizon to show something there. Uncharted had a big demo there last year and it was a long ways out still, so hopefully they will show some Horizon. Who knows though. With only one of them before, there really isn't much of a pattern to find I guess in what to expect.

Will anyone be playing the Uncharted beta? That starts on Friday. I guess I have to re-up my PS+. I thought I'd be more excited, but the multiplayer trailer was a bit of a turnoff. Hopefully it will good fun still. It will be cool to just have Uncharted 4 in my hands though in some form. See how it controls. Try out the grappling hook.

Yeah I guess so. I was honestly hoping they'd be giving some codes out online. I was watching a dev stream of the multiplayer and they gave no indication of something like that.

We have talked a bit about this gen vs. last gen on consoles. And I think we have all generally expressed our disappointment with the Vita. I'm wondering how you guys feel the 3DS stacks up compared to the DS (or other previous Nintendo handhelds too if you'd like to compare them)?

To be fair, I love my Vita, but they really just stopped making triple A exclusives.  I loved Uncharted, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway, but there are so few.  I've accepted the fact that besides PS1 classics, the 3DS will be my main handheld, and I'm certainly not happy about it.

To answer the question, I really like the inclusion of Mii characters, and the graphics do look a lot nicer.  However, it seems really cheaply built.  Every time I open it, it sounds like it is going to crack in half.  The sound is horrendous, unless you're playing in a completely quiet room, head phones are a necessity.  The battery life also seems really poor. So when it comes to the build of the device, I think the DS did a better job. People complain about the PSP nub, but since the 3DS came out like 6 years later, it's pretty inexcusable that nub is so horrible. When it comes to games though, I'm more interested in what the 3DS has to offer overall.  I feel the Vita beats the 3DS in almost every aspect in terms of hardware, sadly games are what matters, and 3DS outshines here.

Not even close to as good as the DS. The DS still stands as the best handheld ever in my mind because of its variety and massive library and the 3DS lacks that second part. It's getting good games, but not as many as I feel it should, especially these past two years. 2013 is kind of an anomaly in that regard. I still like my 3DS and feel more satisfied than any other console this gen save the Wii U with it but do feel a quality drop.

Yeah I agree about the 3DS. Pretty disappointing coming off the DS. The hardware is pretty terrible. I'd probably look the other way on that, but it actually ended up hurting the software. The 3D does nothing for me. The mismatched screens meant devs wouldn't do some of the cool things they did on DS. And the lack of a second stick/slider is just baffling. Even Nintendo realized how dumb that was almost immediately and have tried to rectify the situation multiple times now. I think those mistakes actually contribute to a lack variety in software compared to the DS. More so just not as many good games though.

3DS has more of the kinds of games I like to play, so I prefer it. Obviously it's still more limited than a console but pretty much any sort of game can be good on a 3DS. The same can't be said for the original DS

I like the 3DS better than the DS. More of the kind of games I enjoy, and its games are console quality.

As for the Vita, like the PSP it's amassing a library of niche titles that I like. I'm getting the collectors' edition of Trails of Cold Steel in a week or so when it comes out, that's one of my most anticipated games. But I have a Vita TV rather than a Vita handheld.

Sony has so many franchises that would work nicely on the Vita, not sure why they don't at least put a couple out for the Sony faithful.

Ape Escape, Medievil, Loco Roco, Patapon, inFamous, Ratchet. Such a let down.

I'm currently enjoying Super Mario Land 3D. Also will be getting Yo-Kai Watch for Christmas. Level-5 is my new favorite developer.

Level-5 has always been such a great developer. They made Dragon Quest VIII the fantastic game it is. I downloaded Rogue Galaxy on my PS4 last night. I have my PS2 hard copy still, but right now I can only connect my PS4, Wii U, and Vita TV to my TV, so I will replay Rogue Galaxy on PS4.

Never played that, it ca,e out at a time I wasn't playing games much. I'm really looking forward to playing it. How do the graphics look?

Part of me thinks they're testing Dark Cloud to see how well it sells. I've always thought that would make a fantastic vita game.
