I got enough enjoyment out of Driv3r to be open to the idea of Goat Simulator. I'll grab it when it's dirt cheap, though. Not paying 10 bucks just for a few cheap laughs

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Anyone recently having trouble with their Vita dying really fast? 3 times now I've charged it, played it for a bit and then put it to sleep, and a few hours later I go to play it and the battery is almost dead. I'm wondering if it is something to do with the last update, maybe a bug or something. It has happened 3 times in a row for me. Tried to look it up but only found articles from a year or two ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
The only thing i can think of is either its the brightness or it doesnt go to sleep when you put it on sleep. If theres something touching the screen or rear touchpad it doesnt always stay in sleep mode. It sometimes happens when its just hot out too the screen reacts to heat and sometimes if its in a warm place it wont stay in sleep for long. Try to always shut it off when youre charging too it can overheat if you leave it on while charging
Or your charger could be broke. I know a couple of people had that happen

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Porn is limited to computer use. The problem isn't that it doesn't charge, it's that it does charge and then dies quickly. Today I shut off blue tooth, 3G (never use it, can't see why that would be the problem but who knows), and everything seems to be all right today. I don't know if heat would contribute to it, but today wasn't as hot as the other days it happened. I've played about an hour and a half on it today at different times throughout the day and I still have over 75% of the battery life left, so maybe it was just something strange going on. Hopefully it stays this way.

I've always used the wifi before, but don't really remember if the bluetooth has always been on. It's never been a problem until late, so that's why I was confused if it might have been an update bug or something. I have the next few days off so I'll continue to monitor it.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
i know from my experience weather can have adverse effects on the touch screen. When its really cold out sometimes the touch screen wont even respond. When its hot and humid out sometimes it goes nuts. If there's anything thats making the touch screen respond it will drain battery life.
I've had the same issues a few times, and really thats all i know how to explain it

I generally follow egoraptor and know his stance and I can't say I agree with him on everything but in general he makes some very good points about a game that people treat as untouchable.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Why would anyone still listen to what Egoraptor has to say about anything nowdays? Have you seen ANY of Game Grumps? He's a total fucking idiot. He complains video games explain too much then will skip the tutorial on everything, not pay attention and then whine saying the game is too difficult and didn't explain anything. Jesus, the last I saw of Game Grumps was one of their Dark Souls 2 videos where they're walking through the fucking tutorial forest, where the game is super fucking easy because it's trying to ease the new players in, talking about how insanely hard the game is and getting their asses kicked because 30-60 minutes into the game they still haven't figured out there's a lock-on mechanic WHILE playing as a fucking mage. He's hopeless.
Game Grumps went to shit after JonTron left and Ego's a retarded lazy sellout twat.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
I never watched Game Grumps, but his sequelitis videos are really well thought out. Like, I don't agree on the treasure chest thing he mentions at all, I think the whole animation of Link opening it and finding something in it has its own mystery and sense of discovery, but he is spot on on how OoT is so restrictive and has most of its challenge as an illusion based on waiting. Also what SS did wrong.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Ah Rainjar...I would say that was unexpected but well...
Egoraptor has strong opinions, but he even said at the beginning of the video "this is just my opinion" and...yeah, it was. I disagree on the chest thing, as I think most people do, but his thoughts on enemy design and the relation of combat to the environment are well thought out. And he tends to put game arguments in terms of OLDER games and doesn't factor in changes made to narrative design and things.
I also TOTALLY agree on his point of "you have to advance this arbitrary story point to proceed to the next place". Some games have done it and done it well, in RPGs you kind of expect it, but it can be extremely annoying. I plan on replaying the Ocarina of Time on 3DS soon so I'll be interested to see how these opinions resonate with a fresh playthrough.
As for Game Grumps...well, they're there to talk, not to play the games really? It's just morning radio in a new age.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Had a little leftover credit on my PSN account so I'm gonna stick enough on it tommorow to get a vita game.
Any suggestions. I'm leaning towards Ys Celceta, Atelier Rorona, or Project Diva right now. I should beat my other Ys games first before Celceta though probably.

That Ys game looks like it could be fun. If you get that please let me know if it is worth any of my future money. You're mainly a rpg fan, right? I'm only asking if I can think of any suggestions.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
Mostly RPGs yeah and action games.
Earlier Ys games are kind of like Kingdom Hearts with 2D sprites and Zelda like dungeons.
Though the newer ones like this one and 7 are more full fledged RPGs with party management and stuff. I would recommend the series if you like old-school action RPGs. The psp games might be a better place to start though they're a lot cheaper.

Did you play the original version of Atelier Rorona? It's a good game, although the Dusk games are a cut above the Arland games. I guess Escha & Logy is on sale on PSN right now, maybe I should jump?

Not sure if you've played Tearaway, but that game was fantastic from beginning to end. If you don't go with an RPG that's my suggestion, either that or Mutant Blobs Attack if you liked Loco Roco, that game is similar to those. That's if by action you mean platformer, which some call action games.

Re: Gaming Chat Thread
So I watched the entire Ego vid because fite me.
What I got from it was that Ego has never been able to target in a video game, so it's not just Dark Souls he's absolutely useless at after all. I completely disagree with him about the chest opening, heck I was still excited that animation started playing out in Skyward Sword. That the game was in fact a 3D game made in the 90s where they were trying to transition everything that people loved into a 3D environment and that it didn't always work (Who would have thought huh).
Ego's comments about the story is silly as well, he's basically saying he just wants to run around stabbing shit the entire game. I don't mind the little quests inbetween either to pad things out. The entire thing feels like a classical and simple adventure tale for kids, which fits it perfectly in my mind. The thing about waiting for combat is the only decent point but again it's not something I mind. A games early attempt at getting the tension from a sword fight like that, cool.
I get that a lot of the 3D Zelda's still stick to these things but, again, I don't mind. It doesn't feel like Zelda is one of those games that needs to be analysed so heavily. It's a game series plenty of people grew up with, it's simple in most aspects and carries a ton of charm, overall it's just being a nice fun video game. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the next one, how much they plan on changing exactly.
Iunno. Whatever. Ego's shit at video games. Game Grumps is terrible. Zelda is fun.
At least he hates Skyward Sword. Fuck that game.

I got Rorona. Basically flipped a coin for that or Project Diva. Rorona won. Downloading now
Medievil is technically on vita. The psp remake of both games is on the store, and its fairly cheap iirc

Sorry, but I call bullshit. Those aren't reasons why it shouldn't be analyzed, those are reasons why people don't want it to be analyzed. Any game with that kind of impact getting that heavily analyzed is done to see why it was such a big deal and whether it stands the test of time. Because if you don't get exactly why these games are good or what they could have done better, you get things like Skyward Sword that has no clue what made the series popular in the first place, it's just coasting off the series name.

I know those games are on there, but I want a new game for the series. Oh, and Ape Escape as well. Sony has so many good franchises it just doesn't utilize.
