Anticipated Games - Page 33 Empty Re: Anticipated Games

Gaming on a PC has made me notice the difference between 30 and 60 FPS so much more. Can't stand when someone says it shouldn't matter. It's not a deal breaker for me, but it does.

Anticipated Games - Page 33 Empty Re: Anticipated Games

Post by ajapam Sat Oct 25, 2014 2:35 am

It's still not a priority for me on consoles apart from a small percentage of games I play, but sitting closer to the screen and using a quicker control method definitely helps show the difference.

Now though I find it strange how THAT seems to be usual target of scorn from PC gamers and not things like resolution. Seriously, full 1080p with antialiasing is where it's at and it's way more noticeable than anything else to me. I never could stand jaggies. Can't wait to see what 4K looks like after I win the lottery a few times

Anticipated Games - Page 33 Empty Re: Anticipated Games

Post by SanAndreasX Sat Oct 25, 2014 9:35 pm

I like it when games can crank out 60FPS myself, it does make a significant difference from 30 FPS. I'd rather have both 1080P (and up) with 60FPS but if there has to be a choice, drop the resolution a bit and give me faster gameplay. But again, it's not a dealbreaker. A lot of my favorite games were lucky to make it to 640x480.

That said, Ubisoft's excuse of 900P 30FPS being a "cinematic" gaming experience is a complete load of bollocks.

I have a friend who's another 1UP alumnus who really loves The Evil Within, but says it's definitely an old-school Resident Evil experience, good and bad. I want it, but my priorities went to Bayonetta and Fantasy Life (Nobuo Uematsu and Yoshitaka Amano, yeah!)

I can definitely tell the difference but it doesn't necessarily ruin it if it can't. Unfortunately my RE4 HD has a known bug where it can't crank out 60FPS but I'm still really enjoying it with the improved textures/widescreen regardless.

Also, as I'm not confident my laptop could run The Evil Within smoothly anymore I'll probably be waiting quite some time for it anyway, but thanks for the info. For now it sounds like a "Wait until it drops at or below 50% of its original price" type of game.

It kind of slipped my mind, but there's going to be a new Little Big Planet game in less than a month. So I'm excited for me and my cousin to dig into that. Maybe play with some others here as well.

Also very much looking forward to the new Costume Quest game coming out Tuesday. Just in time for Halloween!

Don't know what Somy's thinking releasing it alongside Smash, Pokemon, Far Cry, and Dragon Age. Who save Bret and Trip is going to buy it when it's competing against all that?

Who knows, maybe Trip will pass on it for a bit with Far Cry and Smash coming out as well. I had a plan going into these months for the games I was going to buy, and the ones I was going to pass on until Christmas. So far it has worked pretty well for me.

I'm still unsure about getting LBP3 when it comes out. I don't understand why every game ever is releasing on November 18, along with Smash and Pokemon a few days later. It's just stupid.

... but I know I will end up buying it just because of the sackboy plush >_>

I'll be getting LBP3, but I imagine it will take a backseat to Far Cry 4 as far as play time goes early on.

I'm looking forward to having a platformer on the system. RPG, action adventure games (MGS, Uncharted), and platformers are my favorite genres.

Looks like Sega is porting the first Valkyria Chronicles to PC. I still have my PS3 copy, of course, but I might buy the PC version anyway just to support the game.

$10 for something you pre-order is shit. I never pre-order, but when people do it it is obviously because it is something they really want. Wal-Mart is complete shit with their pre-orders. The boxes we get in for new games doesn't tell us how many there are for pre-orders. Our pre-orders basically just take $5 off the price of the game when you pick it up, and the more we do the more copies of the game we get in. So when we sell all of the copies and the pre-order people come in they have a right to get pissed, it just sucks that it is at us because we are the ones that they can yell at. I didn't design that shitty pre-order system so please don't yell at me.

pspiddy wrote:Finally got a CSR from Best Buy to check why my Fantasy Life pre-orders were stuck in limbo. Said "they didn't have enough stock" even though I ordered them on August 1st. Dude offered me a $10 gift certificate as compensation and when I asked if anything else was "above his pay grade" he got snippy. Albeit I'd be snippy too if my name was "Jan".

I'm starting a blog on here to mimic "Jan" and "Abbey".

Out of stock? Wow. I just went to Gamestop and picked up my copy of FL right in the store. The only thing they were out of that I wanted was Bayonetta 2.

Do you mean new Video Game Awards (as in this year's VGAs) or New Video Game Awards as in they're rebranding them? Honest question. Blame nintendo

Haha. It's sort of new and a rebrand, but no "new" in the rebranded name? They are now called "The Game Awards 2014." No Spike or Viacom involvement, but Geoff is still involved and now Publishers are involved too. Might be good for announcements. Publishers backing it might call into question the actual awards, but it is not like it could get any worse than last year. Here is a link:

Dragon Age Inquisition reviews seem high which makes me happy since it seems like Bioware did deliver. Of course, it's harder to trust critics nowadays, especially since many of them whack off to Bioware just for being pro social justice, but still....

It is a bit disappointing that the most honest game reviews always seem to come about 3-4 months after a game is released. Kind of defeats the purpose...
