Dude, these are AWESOME! Turns out that I really didn't have enough time to do anything this term. I also was a part of a wedding party, and many of my weekends were busy helping to prepare for that, then we left for Montana last Thursday until Sunday. :p You inevitably win, Spiddy!pspiddy wrote:Here's what I had going for the Halloween theme thing. Overall this project made me want to get back into traditional art, so I'm happy. But it also made me realize just how difficult storytelling is. Digital is so, so much easier in that complex shapes and colors are only a few clicks away. In the age of instant gratification, traditional art really does require passion.
I especially dig your piece with Clank and Daxter! Hahaha. So awesome.

Awesome sketches, spiddy. Like, really super awesome! While I was away I kept thinking about this thread and how bad I felt I never got around to completing anything for it lol (._.)

Re: Share Your Artwork
Maybe, if i can get up the motivation for it.
Last time i tried doing art for Christmas was in 2006. My mother and father both ended up in the hospital that year one right after the other my mother with heart issues, and my father with a brain tumor. My grandmother died after that. Things were really tough on everyone, and I worked so hard that year to get everyone nice presents, I decorated the house myself. I spent the week before Christmas wrapping gifts in the best way i could, and hand making Christmas cards for everyone. I spent hours upon hours making that shit i even wrote little poems for everyone inside, and they all ended up in the trash just like those lame Hallmark cards would have. I worked so hard on those, and it was heartbreaking.
but anyways thats probably enough rambling, my point is i'd like to try again, but someone better fucking appreciate it.

Re: Share Your Artwork
A video I made of my daily drive to work on the first day of snow in Michigan. Â It looked pretty. Â Probably not the safest thing to do, but I was driving a lot slower in the video. Â Typically takes me 20 minutes to get to work. Â I like black and white and I like old style footage, and when I sped it up the video was 4 minutes and 31 seconds long, and I felt The Rip by Portishead was a fitting song to play with the video. I've always liked sped up footage as music videos, so I thought I'd record my own. There's a portion at a four way stop when someone called me on my phone, losing 40 seconds of drive time which makes me mad because it's the prettiest and dreariest looking section of my drive. Oh well.

@bret, wow there's fucking nothing where you live. I'm jealous, it's that shitty kind of busy and packed here. Really liked the music too.

@rainjar, yeah it's a typical small town. What's nice is that I live like 20 minutes from Flint (that name problem doesn't mean anything to you since you're across the pond, but fellow Americans might know it as one of the most dangerous cities in America), and an hour from Detroit (another murder capital). So it's pretty quiet where I'm from with stuff to do, and more to do not too far from home. Portishead is a great relatively unknown band, I think they're similar to Radiohead but with a female singer at times.

Re: Share Your Artwork
Anybody know of a good open source music composition program? I need something I can use without a midi input device. I do have a keyboard, but no way to hook it up to my PC.
Re: Share Your Artwork
I used Fruity Loops ages ago. I didn't care for it much. I'm looking for a full on composition program where I can literally use notes on a staff to write music instead of a keyboard, or better yet, something that will let me do both.
I'm really surprised there's not something like a MIDI to USB converter or something like that...

Re: Share Your Artwork
noteflight.com lets you write and play back music on a staff and export them, but as an actual composition program I doubt it suits your needs. It's more useful for simply making sheet music. Though it does let you export them as MIDI files so you can probably write music on there and use it in something like fruity loops (though I can't make guarantees. I've never actually tried something like that.)
I have a midi to USB cable somewhere. They definitely exist. Unless you meant the kind of adapter to use a normal MIDI plug as a USB

Re: Share Your Artwork
Ok so my keyboard does have USB out, and I'm an idiot.
I fought with getting the driver installed for a couple hours, and now that everything is up and running, I can't get any of the software I'm trying to use to detect the friggin keyboard.
This is such a pain in the ass.

Man...you'd think stuff like keyboards and mice would be figured out by now -_-'
My mouse works for about 10 minutes in blutooth mode before it stops working...so I've got a fancy wireless mouse that I wire in almost always.
Yaaaay.

I used to try to print lab reports to my printer over university residence internet. Biggest waste of paper and ink ever.
And seriously, why aren't bluetooth mouses more of a thing? I get that the dongles are really tiny, but requiring nothing would still be way cooler.
