If it's up there with Ni No Kuni for you I might have to look at it. Are Tales games tough to find after a while or are they fairly common? I've never really looked for any old ones at stores

Yeah, invoking NNK makes me want to take a serious look at it. Symphonia was pretty fantastic so if it beats that...goodbye monies. Time to look around on youtube.

Tales series carries a premium in the used market. But not outrageous.

It's my GOTY I seriously havent enjoyed a JRPG this much sense Persona 4 (when it first came out in 08). I dont think its topping No More Heroes 2 for me either, but goddamn its amazing (and I made Alvin look pretty much exactly like the MC of NH2 by giving him Aviators and sideburns) It's surpassed my expectations i thought it would be "just another Tales game" which is good but Xillia does so much more than that, and the sequel is supposed to be even better.

As for the rarity of them you should be able to pick it up new on Amazon fairly easy unless you wait 2-3 years. If you're lucky though you might be able to score one of the LEs (same price as the regular copy) I know my gamestop had a bunch on display when i was there.

The only really expensive Tales games on the aftermarket are Tales of Destiny and Tales of Destiny II, which were on the PS1 and were made in pretty limited quantities to begin with. The rest of the games did better in the US so they are more readily available unless you want to hunt for collectors' editions (of which only Vesperia and Xillia had those over here).

Ironically, after the two PS1 Tales games, the most expensive Tales game tends to be Tales of Symphonia, which was far and away the most successful Tales game in the US, but you can even score that one for 30 or 40 bucks. And there is a HD remaster of it and its sequel coming to the PS3 in the US next year.

Tales of Xillia really is a true step up for the series. I'm going to have a hard time choosing between it and Ni no Kuni for GOTY in December.

I'm just waiting for Symphonia HD to give Tales a try. It'll be cheaper and the fanbase seems really divisive on which is the best so might as well just try the most popular one first. If that goes well I'll give Abyss, Graces, and/or Xillia a try.

Cool. Symphonia is a good place to start with the series. Its battle system is easy enough to learn but isn't dumbed down, and it hits all the right notes for a Japanese-made RPG. Although I think Xillia has it beat, it was my favorite game in the series until I played Xillia. And it was only one or two spots away from making it into my top 20 list of all-time favorite video games that I did for 1UP.

As much as i like Graces combat system Xillia does EVERYTHING else better. It's about time that they updated exploration and leveling. Also its soundtrack is pretty amazing its reminding me of FFVIII and FFXII's along with the standard Tales stuff. I'm really excited to play 2 next year hope it gets dated soon.

I'm disappointed that I started Final Fantasy XIII-2. Not because I hate the game, but because if the game is even a smidge close to Ni No Kuni then I wish I would have picked up that instead. To make matters worse, I'm on vacation and really want to play it. Damn. My Wal-Mart actually got it day one, and it was a special edition with the music cd, character cards, and something else.

No money to pick it up? It's definitely worth it. I think Tales of Xillia is definitely among the cream of the crop for RPGs of the PS3/360/Wii era.

I got the Super Ostentatious Collectors' Edition. The Milla statue is sitting on top of my game shelf next to the Vault Boy Bobblehead I got with my Fallout 3 Collectors' Edition.

Gamestop had a deal where if you traded in 2 games from a list they had you get $50+ credit for them so I traded in Mario Kart Wii and FUSE for Dragon's Crown. Took a break from Xillia and messed around with its classes for a bit. The games really fun. Got a level 7 Sorceress and Wizard like the Elf a lot too.

Also, I noticed Kay and Greenie popped up on my alerts on the Dragon's Crown page. Did you guys grab the Vita version? No idea how those alerts work in cross-save games. If so, we should plan some game nights. And San should grab the Vita version if the three of us have it. Fun times.

The screen does get a little crowded. I like it for Vita though. Good for quick sessions and the touch screen is super convenient.

I'm glad i got it theres tons to mess around with in this game all the classes, skills and the magic classes staves/wands have different elements which mix up their attacks too. The games fucking stupid too which is always a good thing imo

I have 4 characters an Elf, Amazon, Sorceress, and Wizard. The latter two are the highest leveled. You share money and loot across all characters so it really doesnt give me that much incentive to not mess around with the classes. Except dwarf, dwarf looks so fucking dumb.

I'm playing as a Sorceress because her magic spells looked awesome and fun. I had a difficult time deciding between her and the Elf, but I really only wanted to play as the Elf because I liked her design.

lol I think the dwarf looks fine. He is very... dwarfish.

Now that I've beat Amnesia I'm gonna finally beat the Deus Ex: HR DLC that I got for like...$3 a year or two ago. BACKLOG KILLING COMMENCE!

You upload them to the server and they can be accessed from either version

Tales of Xillia is so great, the cast of characters is probably one of my favorites ever. The skits have been awesomely silly. And I'm in love with Alvin of course (｡♥‿♥｡)
