Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
Ni no Kuni really starts showing its teeth after you get Esther. That game is balls-to-the-wall tough in some areas.lenny.b wrote:Although I feel Ni no Kuni (I'm only in Almamoon, so far) is a great game, I feel as though it's a lot slower-paced than I would have initially thought or anticipated it to be. It really seems "child-like" when I play it, but the fact that studio ghibli created it, I really enjoy the animation style. It's not even too far off from Level 5's Rogue Galaxy. Rogue Galaxy, however, felt a lot more ... "grown up", I guess(?) with much fewer tutorial scenes.
Oh well. It's become a little more entertaining with a second party member, now. I'll probably write a review when I'm done (if I'm done before the next term starts).

You were right! After getting Esther and finding out that I can capture familiars and evolve them, I've been playing non-stop for almost 4 hours now. Strangely enough, I seem to be drawn to playing my Mite more than any character I've had so far. :p I'm hoping this is normal.SanAndreasX wrote:Ni no Kuni really starts showing its teeth after you get Esther. Ni No Kuni just gets more and more addicting. I needed it like addicts do drugs.

You are a world-class pusher, spiddy. You just keep enabling Lenny's Ni no Kuni habit. Damn, I'm starting to get excited about Ni no Kuni again!

Same here! I kept the Mite in Oliver's active roster the entire game. I also liked the Draggle, although he's a bit slow, sitll powerful, and I also had a Puss-in-Boats for my final party.lenny.b wrote:You were right! Mite, and both forms of Puss in Boats. Feline power!

Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
I just got a Purrloiner and stored it in the Familiar Retreat. After hearing you guys, I'll probably pull it out and work on evolving it meow.

You have to have the pirate kitty with you. Otherwise you are just playing it wrong

Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
So I'm on a mission to get the Mornstar and I've just metamorphosed all of my main guys, and everything's gotten tougher due to their low levels. I rarely use anyone except Oliver, but I think I need to start doing so until my Mite becomes mighty once again.
Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
Interestingly enough, while I was in the desert (Shimmering Sands?) the overall music and feel reminded me of Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past... This game has its quirks. When it comes to Level 5, though - I think that they could have improved a bit more on combat tactics. Their previous game Rogue Galaxy had options for your team mates to "conserve MP" and I feel like my party could have definitely used that option. After one battle out of a town, they'd be running on empty already, and that was fairly ridiculous.
Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
It wasn't until recently that I started using Swaine's gun to steal items, so I'm enjoying him for the time being. Hahah.
Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
Looks like Ni no Kuni did well enough to make the PS3 Greatest Hits line.

I saw that too. Hopefully Level-5 made some cash and make another Ni No Kuni inspired game.

Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
Have you guys played Level 5's Rogue Galaxy? I highly recommend it if you thoroughly enjoyed Ni no Kuni.
Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
I have not. Came out at a time when I wasn't playing many games. Level-5 is probably my favorite game company right now so I definitely would like to play it. Haven't played their Professor Layton games, but they don't make bad games (Dark Cloud 1 and 2, Dragon Quest VIII, Dragon Quest IX, Jeanne D'Arc, Ni No Kuni).

Re: Ni no Kuni discussion
I have Rogue Galaxy. It's a great game, although I prefer both Dragon Quest VIII and Ni no Kuni. I still haven't finished it, but I'm thinking of starting a new playthrough and finishing it this time.

I wish Square would do more HD remixes. Finally getting on the ball with Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X, so hopefully they get good sales from those and see that it is a profitable venture.

Giving this game another shot once again and just want to know what creatures I should capture. Because getting the wrong ones is the exact kind of thing to make me stop playing.
