The first part of the game was awesome enough, but the second part is getting into mindfuck territory. I like Ni no Kuni better and better the more I play it.

I think the best genre for drawing you into the world and just capturing your imagination is the RPG genre. Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Quest VIII, Ni No Kuni, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X. It feels like you are invited into a new world and welcomed with open arms.

So I decided to boot this game up again and continue my path of platinum glory. All I need is 4 scrolls of truth to get the one alchemy trophy. I still do not understand how I haven't got the 2000 glim trophy. Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't the glims the blue, green, and gold things that recover magic, hit points, and grant you a version of limit breaks? I do not understand how I haven't got 2000 yet. Seems like I get an average of 3-4 a match now.

Golden draggle is the one in the Glittering Grotto, right? If so I got one tamed today when I played. Also, I got a scroll of truth from some enemy in the Glittering Grotto. It is the only one I have, and I haven't seen anywhere mention that you can get one from the Glittering Grotto. Needless to say I was pumped for the freebie. I was actually reading your strategy earlier today. I was clueless as to where I left off because I hadn't played the game in a month and a half, so I needed your reminders to even get me back on the right path again. I'm currently saved at the Tombstone Trail and will begin my quest tomorrow.

I think I got the draggle. Once I evolve the next familiar I'm gonna use whichever one I got, so I'll let you know if I got that one.

I'm just hoping and praying these honker tonkers give me the scroll of truth without much fuss.

Got the alchemy quest complete! Getting the scrolls of truth was actually very easy. It literally took me no more than 20 minutes for some reason. I came across 5 honker tonkers and 4 of them dropped them with just a simple Swaine mugshot. I didn't even get a gold glim to get them. Every time I saw that he successfully stole a scroll of truth I did a fist pump. 4 out of 5 honker tonkers using only mugshot plus that random one I got from glittering grotto made me super pumped. Every where I read online (including from you) said roughly 2 hours. Just under 20 minutes had me extremely pleased.

I wish the list would tell you what you have already done. I've done some and I have no idea which ones I've done.

There are a couple trophies I still need, but the one that I look at that really makes me sad is the 100% alchemy trophy. It would be fine if it told me what I already did, but it doesn't and now I don't remember.

I'd kind of like to know how close I am to getting the trophy for 2000 glims myself. That's one thing I like about the Tales series - those games tell you exactly how much of x or y you've done.

The strategy guide does do a good job of outlining what you need to do for the trophies.

I didn't know there was an icon. That makes it less daunting now. I'll have to look it up. I've played 75 hours and finished 1000 battles a long time ago and still haven't got the 2000 glims. I doubt it will ever come at this point.

You're right. I'm now at 57%. I think I'm gonna run around every section in order of the start of the game and try to steal items when possible. Other than 100% alchemy I can't think of any other hard trophies besides the 2000 glim trophy which will never come.

Funny story. Today I thought "What if Oliver has to get the glims and not the familiars?" So I was destined to only use Oliver in fights unless it was a tough one, and after my first match the trophy ding popped up and I got my 2000 glims. So maybe you have to use an actual character?

I say this as someone who hates Studio Ghibli (mostly their animation, the stories ain't bad, but the animation is bleh.) I'm twelve hours in and EVERYTHING (that isn't an anime cutscene, fuck those) is amazing. Screenshots and videos do not do this game justice it is obscenely beautiful, did i mention i hate Ghibli animation, but JESUS FUCKING CHRIST in game it all just looks so gorgeous. Its one of those games where im going to spend more time wandering around like a fucking moron staring at shit than actually playing. Love combat too just got the ability to recruit monsters. Theres a ton of depth here. Can tell I'll be spending a ton of time on this.

Not a fan of the character designs and how they are animated. Not really sure why they just always look off to me. It all looks SO MUCH better in the game though.

The Last of Us is out now and I still pick Ni No Kuni for game of the year. Now the only thing that can beat it for me is Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Unless Tales of Xillia turns out to be incredibly fucking amazing, Ni no Kuni is going to be my GOTY.

Picked this back up after The Last of Us made me need the most lighthearted game imaginable. Just got the wand from his Meowjesty. The game's pretty charming and I can see how the battle system can improve, but it's just okay right now. Hope there's not too much of take/give heart stuff, hated that earlier. Have to turn away during cutscenes too, hate this animation. But it's doing enough right to keep me playing for now.

Although I feel Ni no Kuni (I'm only in Almamoon, so far) is a great game, I feel as though it's a lot slower-paced than I would have initially thought or anticipated it to be. It really seems "child-like" when I play it, but the fact that studio ghibli created it, I really enjoy the animation style. It's not even too far off from Level 5's Rogue Galaxy. Rogue Galaxy, however, felt a lot more ... "grown up", I guess(?) with much fewer tutorial scenes.

Oh well. It's become a little more entertaining with a second party member, now. I'll probably write a review when I'm done (if I'm done before the next term starts).
