You seem to forget that T-Wolf's never argued that Infinite is perfect, just that there's a lot of middle ground between 10/10 and piece of shit and it falls somewhere in there.

Yeah, Greenie sums up what I think in this situation pretty well.
As for the rest of your...points. Well. They certainly are something. I find it a little rich that someone whose favorite game is Spec Ops: The Line would then rally against a game for having antiquated and boring gameplay in justification of a story that makes a big thematic point that is also a meta-discussion about game design...wait, which game are we talking about again?

The original Bioshock was the meta-commentary on games. Maybe I'm missing something in Infinite if you guys say that's one, too... Anyway, Bioshock Infinite is not The Last of Us, so this is silly

Re: The Last of Us Discussion
I played through Left Behind which I thought was excellent. They do one really cool thing with the combat that makes a few encounters unique to this DLC and do some really fun things in the non-combat sections. I won't say more until some others have played it, but I'd recommend it!
Re: The Last of Us Discussion
The exploration stuff was all great, but I think I enjoyed 3 encounters in the whole thing. They're mostly the same ones you're talking about. Clicker encounters are the worst part of The Last Of Us and at one point the game was respawning enemies after I died without giving me any ammo back. I should have played on a lower difficulty so I'd actually find enough crafting tools to make fighting clickers enjoyable

- Left Behind DLC spoilers:
- Just read that Ellen Page came out as a lesbian, which I find quite hilarious considering this DLC came out only hours beforehand. It was meant to be

- Left Behind DLC Spoilers:
- I liked how they took some the existing mechanics and made fun games for the two girls like the brick throwing contest and water gun fight. Then other stuff like the Halloween store and the photo booth were fun too. And I really loved the video game thing. I know it was just a QTE basically, but seeing Ellie get really into it was fun.
I thought the other storyline was a smart way to add combat since it wouldn't have made much sense in the prequel story and it made some nice parallels. Pitting the infected against the hunters was definitely the coolest part. Didn't love the last fight on my first go, but maybe it will go better on my second run.
And the Ellen Page thing is a weird coincidence for sure.

How long is the DLC?

Re: The Last of Us Discussion
2-3 hours depending on difficulty setting and how much you search. Took me like two and a half.
Re: The Last of Us Discussion
Finished the DLC.
- DLC discussion and all yo:
- That was fairly enjoyable although I'm not sure if it was worth the money. It certainly reminded me why I enjoyed TLOU so much. Exploring the environment and just taking in all the details was possibly my favourite part, especially the Halloween store. The use of gameplay was also very clever and light hearted at times and finally being able to pit the infected against the hunters was not only entertaining but made me feel like a massive fucking dick. Trying to escape from a Clicker by crawling into an air vent only to be pulled out which caused me to have to run like crazy in order to reload was really great, in fact all the Clicker sections manage to have me on edge once again. The writing for Ellie was just as good as ever, once again she seems like an actual teenage girl instead of people just trying to write a teenage character with no real idea how to. The ending was nicely tragic too, it ends exactly where it needs to just like the main game.
However it wasn't all great. The AI problem really did flag up this time around with the bandits just mindlessly running around. From what I saw they never made any attempt to save their friends surrounded by Clickers in unscripted events. The first time you can pit the two groups together after the air vent I threw a brick near the bandits which lead all the infected to maul the fuck out of one of 'em while the other ran right past them all into a corner with no escape routes, he didn't even shoot to try save his friend which was really disappointing.
I saw the kiss scene before I actually played so I went into the entire thing slightly annoyed because I was expecting some Gone Home tier bullshit which hindered my enjoyment of it a little I think. I seemed to be struggling with the controls this time around, I think I'm just getting worse at video games. Neither of these things are the games fault at all, I just wanted to mention them.
Re: The Last of Us Discussion
Played through this DLC again on Survivor and have another thought:
Also should I split this topic off into its own so we can talk freely or are the spoiler tags okay?
- Last Behind DLC Spoilers:
- So when I took notes about my first playthrough and I talked about the whole pitting the infected against the hunters, I actually jokingly wrote something like "More like sicking the infected on the hunters" because they dominated every fight I instigated between the two. I'm not sure if it was the switch in difficulty or something I did differently, but other than the initial chance to do this coming out of the vent in the sporting goods store, the hunters killed all the infected in the latter two fights that time around. Which is cooler than I figured initially. And the second of the three fights where both are involved I tried a couple of times and once all three hunters survived and the second just one did.
What happened with these fights for you guys?
Also should I split this topic off into its own so we can talk freely or are the spoiler tags okay?

I'm content to hold of on hitting the spoiler tags until I've played it

Guy who made the AI vid so I thought you'd lot like to see this as well.
Re: The Last of Us Discussion
Playing TLoU on hard, and I'd say 95% of the time I never resort to using a weapon. I'm hoarding bullets like a TLC special.

Re: The Last of Us Discussion
I was doing the same thing when I played on harder difficulties and discovered I was being overly careful. I was just worried about needing it later, but got to the end of just about all my runs with a full stock of ammo and resources.
Re: The Last of Us Discussion
You're a good man, Trip. I'd gladly be by your side in any similar TLoU scenario. I'd believe you if you told me you saw Kurt Cobain alive and well, and I believe you here. But the survivalist in me will still hoard, it's a sickness.
What did you upgrade first with your pills? I maxed out health because I figured that would be most important, but after that I'm not sure. I'm thinking the ability to see where enemies are might be my next approach.

I try to save whatever I can in stealth, only really using the bow and arrow. Once I get caught, however, I'll use whatever it takes to survive

I actually turned off the thing that let you see where enemies were, so that was the last thing I upgraded. I think I went for Health and Weapon Sway first. Then the crafting/healing speeds next. I also didn't upgrade the health right when I got the pills. Because you can basically use it as a health kit, so I saved some pills until I needed health to do the upgrade. Also certain points in the story will fill health too, so that is good to keep in mind.
While I'm in tip mode, be sure to look for firefly tags hanging places like lamp posts and trees if you are trying to nab collectibles. You can knock them down with bricks and bottles.
Re: The Last of Us Discussion
I can see why you'd turn off the enemy sight because it does seem like cheating, and takes an element of fear out of the game. I've actually been saving my pills for quite a while to use as a last ditch health pack.
I don't remember the Pittsburg section feeling so long. Is that the longest part of the game? Because I feel like I've been here forever. I dread the snow section because I remember it being tough on normal.

Re: The Last of Us Discussion
I go with health first then weapon sway then shivs. The rest are just perks compared to those three.
And I would put Pittsburgh as the longest section if you don't count all of Winter as one.

Beat it again. Took a lot less time than my last few ones. Starting to know this game from front to back. Excited to try Grounded, but gonna wait on that for a while.
