Breaking Bad Discussion
Figured we needed this for the coming weekend. This thread will contain spoilers up to the latest episode that has aired (as of now through the eighth episode of Season 5). So you guys have an hopes or predictions for these final 8 episodes?
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Something's going to happen to Walter Jr. and that's going to trigger when shit gets real. That's all I have for predictions.

He'll get hooked on Walt's blue meth. Also I'm pretty sure we're all agreed Walt's going to die, it's just a question of how. It's crazy how much they've been foreshadowing it, when he first gets diagnosed with cancer they tell him he only has 2 years to live and then at the start of S5 we see him hitting his 52 birthday.
Another two people are going to die though. The ending of season 2 foreshadows Gus' death with the half burnt teddy bear, and there's two bodies laying outside the house with a sheet over them so I'm thinking possibly Walt and Skyler? A friend of mine thinks there'll be some major event around that pool though.
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Man I'd be pretty pissed at Gilligan if Walt didn't die. He really has to. I'm unsure which way he will go though. Interesting speculation there in that second paragraph Rainjar. We'll have to see how that turns out.
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
I think its possible that Walt won't die. Unlikely, but possible. I think if he survives, his whole family will die and he'll be living in some other country all alone... which is almost worse than being dead.
But I want to see him go out in a blaze of glory.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
It would be kinda unexpected if he didn't die but I can't really think of it being a satisfying conclusion. They've foreshadowed it SO much, and the ending of pretty much every S5 part 1 episode was just them screaming "His time is running out, Walt is going to die." That could all be a red-herring but I don't think that'd be wise of them.
Curious to know if Jesse will live or not. I use to think he'd be the other foreshadowed death from the ending of S2, that he'd take full responsibility for what he's been involved in and seek redemption by taking down Walt but also sacrificing himself in the process, but now I'm not so sure.

SPOILERS for the premiere:
That final scene was crazy. I thought that would take a few episodes to happen. When Hank closed the garage door, I was like "Oh Shit!" I also liked how his neighbor reacted to him in the cold open and then back in the current storyline.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Yeah, the stuff with the neighbor was my favorite part. I think the reason they went there so quick though is because they have to cover a year in 8 episodes, if that happened a season ago they would have dragged it out. Now they can't really do that.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
The whole episode was fantastic. The opening and final scene were perfect, like Trip said I was surprised it happened so quickly but I'm glad it did, it really gave it a punch and has gotten me even more excited to see the rest of the season.
One thing that got me thinking though was the opening when Walt goes back home and Heisenberg is spray painted on the walls. The poster for this season was Walt with "REMEMBER MY NAME" written across it, right? But that sprayed painted Heisenberg shot got me wondering, does he want to be remembered as Heisenberg or Walt?
One thing my friend noticed was how Walt was wearing the same shirt as Gus. Very nice subtle touch.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
I'm thinking the poison he got in the open was for Jesse. They haven't mentioned Walt poisoning Brock since season 4, think Jesse is going to find out soon with how that scene with Walt telling him to trust him played out. And if that happens, Jesse's not going to hold anything back from him.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
^Haha. That was clever. I never talked about last week's episode. It was interesting to see Skylar go to Walt's side. I really loved the scene where Todd and company cleared out that cook site in the desert. Quite the return for him. Also the overhead shot of Jesse on the playground thing was pretty cool.
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Holy shit. Walt has done some fucked up shit in the past, but he once again managed to outdo himself. My jaw was dropping through that entire confession, so fucking brilliant.
But I was a bit confused on Jesse. Did he see his pot was missing, figure Saul took it, then put two and two together that Saul could have taken the rincin cigarette and Walt would have lied? I kind of felt I was missing something and just want to make sure that's it.
Can't fucking wait for next week though. And it explains so much about Walt's house with Heisenberg painted in it.

I think that's what Jesse did. It was a bit of a leap, but when I thought about his earlier meeting with Walt it made a bit more sense.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
That episode. I feel so fucking sorry for Jesse, seriously. When they're in the desert and he breaks down crying ;_____;. Walt's bullshit tape was hilarious, I was torn between hating him more and thinking "Goddamn it Walt, you glorious bastard".
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Glad Jesse won't just be sulking around anymore. Him towards the end of the episode was pretty awesome. The tape was pretty nuts. I hate Walt so much.
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Goddamn I love this show so much. Dem natural dynamics that turn you from loving and hating a character so quickly. The way Hank is treating Jesse has just made me hate Hank, Walt's reach out for Jesse only for it to go bad for reasons that were no fault of his own made me sympathise with him again. A drug dealing murderous bastard doing things to help his family contrast with a law enforcer who only cares about his own goal. It's just so good.
New ep was good, I'm really waiting for it to pick up in a major way though.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
I think it's safe to say these last three episodes will be what we've been waiting to happen since we saw Walt's 62nd birthday.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
That shootout at the end was kind of ridiculous guys. How are Hank and Gomey not dead like almost immediately? Where were those Nazis-dudes shooting exactly? A different edit/direction would have made it less ridiculous. I did love Jesse when he was on the phone with Walt racing over there. And just in general them actually outsmarting Walt was pretty great.
Also I still want Walt to die.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
The shootout was a little too far, but the tension building up to it was the kind of thing I live for in Breaking Bad. They should have had them at a really far distance or have Hank and Gomey really close to the car so they could take cover easy.
I don't want Walt to die. I want him to spend the rest of his life in prison just reflecting on how many lives he ruined and how terrible of a person he is. He's ready to accept death, if he dies it still means he wins.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Nah. I don't think if he dies he wins. Depends on how everything goes down. Though life in prison is fine. I was more responding to Rainjar's comment which seemed to be indicating he'd be sad if Walt dies. I don't really get people who root for Walt.
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
It does, but that conversation he had with Hank about how he'll prosecute a dead man makes me think he has accepted that he will die. If he was desperately trying to get any cure for his cancer, then I'd be on board with his death. But I just want him to know what he did failed and have to live with that for decades. That IMO is the worst punishment he can get.
And I agree on how I can't root for Walt, at least now. Up until he killed Gus, I was rooting for him as a lesser of two evils. Now though, the guy is actually worse than the past villains in the series.

Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
Well, I still want Walt to die because it won't be satisfying otherwise, but goddamn it he's such a glorious bastard. Just watching everything go back to shit for him makes me feel sorry for him.
Re: Breaking Bad Discussion
I thought it was hilarious when Walt got played by Hank and Jesse. A lot of people seem to be actively rooting for Walt, which makes no sense to me. It's like they don't even watch the show. Thankfully nobody here is that insane

It's the episode I've been waiting years for. There's always been this lingering feeling that something awful would happen. The moment finally came and I wasn't disappointed
