I thought about AC4 but I still have not even played 3 yet. I'll finally play it in this month I have before the release of the PS4 and then make a decision.

Kind of funny, since the ps2 my first purchase is always a first person shooter and FIFA. That was the case for my PS2 (Timesplitters and FIFA 2002 I believe), PS3 (Resistance and NHL 2Ksomething, would have been fifa but they didn't release it launch year for some stupid reason), and now a PS4 with Killzone and FIFA 14. I'm a creature of habit.

You may think it's funny with how much we hate Assassin's Creed 3, but you didn't deal with two obvious filler games only meant to take your money before the real one only for the real one to remove everything you love about the series and then end by saying "Fuck you, we're making more of these." I think I acted very rationally and Trip didn't take his hate far enough.

I initially typed this as a joke response to Greenman's news of the Watch Dogs delay:

"Well, I guess its a pirate's life for me then!"

I couldn't go through with it though. It all cuts too deep still I guess.

I'll be getting Killzone a week later. You could take advantage of the free trial of Gamefly Trip, they have commercials offering a free month with the right word all the time.

Yeah that is exactly what I was thinking of doing (and then keeping it going if I like it). Might be good to catch up on some 3DS games until I can actually pick up some more.

You'll have a friend to play online with in me Trip if you get Killzone. It would be nice to have a partner that isn't a jackass like my cousin sometimes. After a year and a half he started to finally get the hang of the class based combat.

Yeah, I'm not particularly good at Killzone but I will play it correctly I guess.

I am really excited for the PS4 launch. The launch line-up is pretty rough and there are only a handful of currently announced games coming down the line I'm really excited for to be honest, but I'm still really excited to get my hands on this thing.

Killzone multiplayer takes a good amount of time to grasp. This new one sounds like it is mixing things up so I'm gonna be confused as well.

I read that there will only be three kinds of class types, as opposed to the 6 the las game had. It'll be a learning experience for all.

The wife has a launch 3DS that she loves, but then when she was playing on my poke'mon XL she got jealous. So I negotiated a deal where she gets the poke'mon XL and I get the Zelda XL. I'm not happy that I have to do it online and not in-store and Zelda is a download code, but other than that I'm clearly coming out the winner in this. Part of the negotiation is that she gets my Amazon credit so I'm probably not getting Fire Emblem soon. Unless BF deals are killer.

If anyone is curious or thinking about jumping, the total for the bundle was just shy of $250 including tax and shipping. Kind of shitty but I'm a fanboy so I'll eat it.

I'm curious about the PS4 cloud gaming thing. Since it's no longer an option to swap for a larger HDD, does that mean that they are doing cloud-based gaming with minimal installs or do digital products still have to be installed natively? It's not a deal-breaker or anything, I'm just curious what the plans are. And I'm sick of looking through articles that are just as clueless as me and only provide press release bullet-points.

None of the big 3 have been very clear about their strategies, but Sony always messes with my head because they've never had their shit together.

I thought the PS4 allowed a swap of the internal HDD, as long as it was at least 160GB?

I went back and read it again and I misread where it was comparing Xbone and ps4. Where Xbone doesn't support it. Now I'm really confused. Someone link an article with comparative specs please. Because MS not allowing it and Sony does disturbs me even more.

Like, is there even a point in buying Xbone besides the controller? Seems Sony is outclassing them in every other way...

San, that's the same argument I can make for any given company including the iSH!T so prevalent on this forum. What I mean about Xbone and ps4 is neither has really eastablished itself to the point that I can discern the difference between the two about seemingly innocuous crap like hdds or cloud services.

And it's very clear that exclusive is not even a word anymore. Dunno, this next gen is getting complicated. Borderline boring. After all, if a hardcore gamer like me has trouble figuring this out, what mission statement from either company accomplish? Crazy shit.

Well, I meant that argument as sarcasm, since those were the two big features (other than Kinect 2) that Microsoft and Xbone partisans have been crowing about the most.

But yes, that is a fairly accurate assessment of the situation, and the industry seems to agree, including Keiji Inafune and Shinji Mikami, among others. The two consoles are said to be extremely similar to one another to the point where there will be no appreciable difference in multiplatform games.

Exclusives are also going to become rarer, and while I know that's supposed to be a big positive, I'm not exactly thrilled about it. Most of my favorite games were exclusive to one platform or another, and I think their exclusivity helped make them what they were, since most of them had some kind of financial or technical help from the platform holder and there was an incentive to make them bigger and better than the usual tide of multiplatform third-party crap. Interestingly, I've found the vast majority of multiplatform games to be rather bland and boring.

For my part, though I have a PS4 on preorder and am looking forward to the PS4. I'm looking with some trepidation on the next generation. I'm hoping that the next gen will have its Valkyria Chronicles, a game that fuels my inner RPG nerd with great gameplay with beautiful visuals to match. And I wish the Wii U were doing better, because I'm enjoying that system quite a bit.
