Next Gen Consoles

Thought it would be good to start a thread on the upcoming systems since the PS4's official now.

PS4's got nice specs and what not but the fact that it will only play PS4 games means getting it early will pretty much make it a $400 paperweight. So I'm sitting out till it gets enough games.

Bummer about the PS4's lack of BC, especially since Sony is the company that spoiled us with it in the first place. I guess the Cell's architecture is too different from the PS4's x86 chipset. Still, looks like a good deal. Hopefully they'll get some good RPGs on it.

I think the benefit outweighs the downside on this one. I mean it would be cool to take my games over but making it easier for the developers to create games it more important. The cell architecture just didnt pan out well for Sony. As long as my PS3 holds up BC wont matter much to me.

There was a list a bunch of JRPG devs are supporting it I saw not sure about all of them, but I saw Gust, and I think Atlus

I want to see how games can evolve taking cover and occasionally shooting enemies to another level with the PS4.

I know I saw Level-5, Falcom, and Tri-Ace on there. I'm especially liking Level-5 after how awesome Ni no Kuni has been.

And hopefully Square Enix is finally ready to bring its A game to the table with FFXV, and it will be the HD answer to FFXII or something like that.

What was your favorite game they showed at the conference if anything caught your eye.

Krank, hands down. Pretty much ensured I'd get a PS4 at some point.

I really liked Watch Dogs. The concept of that game seems really interesting to me.

I thought Krank looks really cool. I'm way more interested in seeing graphics like that than seeing how close they can get to real people. But maybe I've been playing too much Ni No Kuni.

Wait isn't it Knack? I think Krank is some Jason Statham movie knockoff.

I'd say Watch Dogs myself.

Got it mixed up I guess. All that matters is it's cartoony and stars an awesome looking main character with an equally awesome power.

It'll be interesting to see how Diablo III turns out for either system.

I hate to say it, but I'm not early-adopting this generation. I got burned by the 360, the PS3, and the Wii this time. Damn mechanical issues... I feel like I need to wait these new consoles out for a year or so until we find out what their terrible downsides are.

Think about the future: what will the Next Gen of the Red Rings be? Cannot wait!

I missed the whole reveal thingy since I was at work. But Diablo III got me really excited. Playing it with friends on a console would be awesome. My PC can't run shit so I never got a chance to play it. Blizzard bringing over StarCraft II would be cool too.

I'm most excited for whatever the hell Square's announcement is going to be. It might be able to sell me on next gen.

Square continues to confuse me. I mean I want more Final Fantasy but why do they continue to announce new titles before finishing what they are already working on. Is Versus ever coming out? That being said I am interested in seeing what a PS4 Final Fantasy will be like.

Square is run by idiots, but they still put out games i want to play so I can live with it i guess. At least we know whatever this game will be it will be really really pretty in any case.

I didn't see the announcements but I'm interested in Drive Club. The BC compatability thing is a reason I may not get a PS4 soon and if it had it, I was willing to trade in my PS3 for it, and if these things are gonna have some tech issues early on or not, gonna wait and see. That and there's still games for the PS3 and 360 that I want and yet to play, so I'm good for now.

I'm pretty excited for Drive Club as well. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift was my favorite racer this gen so more from those guys is entirely welcome! I was happy to see they are going to implement whatever the dualshock 4's version of SIXAXIS into the controls of that game. Steering with motion controls in Motorstorm was a blast--especially after a few drinks! I'm glad they are switching to cars this time around. I think the Motorstorm formula has run its course.

Did you ever try the one that came out after Pacific Rift? Never played the games, which is another reason I'm waiting on the PS4. Though since Evolution is making Drive Club into a sim like racer, does that mean GT6 wont come out or will they do something different?

I did not care for Armageddon at all. I didn't like how the tracks would change after every lap. Motorstorm has always been kind of rubber bandy, but the track changes would always mess up the people at the front of the race while the people towards the back would have time to react. Plus the tracks changed in the exact same way every time, so the big explosions and earthquakes and what not weren't all too impressive after seeing them a couple of times. When it comes to Motorstorm, Pacific Rift is really all you need.

I think it is safe to say GT6 will be what you'd expect.

Before it was revealed rumors suggested that Evolution wanted to use the GT name for Drive Club though. Probably to help boost sales a bit.

I eagerly await Square's announcement of Kingdom Hearts 2.73: Double Dart Defcon Cat 25/8. It's a side-story following the adventures of Skip Falco, a supporting character that was cut from the original Kingdom Hearts. It's a turn-based tower-defense rhythm game that's entirely in brown and white. With no Disney characters except for Daisy Duck and the kid from Tailspin.

....Dammit. Just release Kingdom Hearts 3 already. Dicks.

I'm looking forward to what I WANT Square to release, at least. Hopefully it won't be a PS Minis version of FF: All the Bravest, complete with all the money-grubbing kompu gacha.
