Re: Chat Thread
Cool. I will let you guys know if I am around one night. Have we ever chatted before on a game or anything Twolf? I don't feel we have.
Re: Chat Thread
I don't think I have, but now that I'm back in the states it seems a lot more feasible.

To be honest I never know what to get my family. I might make some stuff for my friends, though.

My family is hard to shop for too except one of my sisters. She always wants what Disney just rereleased but never knows what they do this year. Gets a surprise and it's easy, perfect.

Re: Chat Thread
My parents have pretty much gotten into the habit of getting something and then invoicing me for it. I don't really mind as I just send them my wishlists anyway .
Though it's tradition I always get my dad a game, which I haven't broken.

I'm pretty much done except for my wife, but she's done a horrible job of telling me what she wants so it is her own fault. She says she wants her lip pierced and a small tattoo of our cat's paw. Not really something I can give her on Christmas though.

Well you COULD, it would just end horribly in both instances.

Re: Chat Thread
My dad is tough to shop for. I may have mentioned this before, but for quite a few years I have been getting my dad a couple calendars for his workshop. A hunting themed one that is basically women in camo bikinis holding guns and the other is the same kind of thing but with a construction theme. He used to get one like the latter from one of his lumber suppliers, but they stopped doing them a long while ago. So I was pretty happy with this gift idea when I came up with it. It is kind of expected now, but he got a real kick out of it the first time. I get him something else each year too, but that varies from year to year.

Re: Chat Thread
What do you guys do for Christmas? Open presents that morning or on Christmas Eve? Any family parties? What do you guys have for Christmas dinner?
Re: Chat Thread
We open on Christmas then do the family party. Which is ALWAYS the best part of any holiday. Everyone who isn't driving gets really drunk which creates a huge shitstorm when we do our Yankee Swap gift exchange. What we eat always varies, sometimes it's turkey or ham, this year it's prime rib.

Re: Chat Thread
My family does a big holiday party every year with proper homemade eggnog, it's so GOOD! Then mostly just chill out Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. definitely open presents on Christmas Day. When we were kids my parents let me and my sister open a little present on Christmas Eve but they have unfortunately not brought that tradition back.

Re: Chat Thread
Yeah we do presents on Christmas day as well. My mom makes lasagna for Christmas dinner these days which is really great. Haven't been to my extended family party in a while, but they always did yankee gift swap thing. That was always a fun time.
Ended up doing all my shopping today. It was kind of exhausting. And it was raining! Glad to be done.

Re: Chat Thread
Open on Christmas Eve ever since I was a teen because my sister moved out and had a kid, which was awesome as a teen because I got my game a day early and I'd stay up all night playing. I go to my mom's on Christmas Eve, and my wife's family on Christmas day. The wife and myself open presents from each other on Christmas Day.

That's nice that you get to kind of bounce between families
Also - greenie, thanks for the gift-back . I'll need to read into all the mods to make that game work good...

I hope you guys all have a Merry Christmas. Make sure to let us know what goodies you got or any other fun Christmas tales.
Re: Chat Thread
I got Super Mario Maker and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. Awesome games.
As far as Christmas adventures, I think we're going to Washington, DC today to look at the White House Christmas tree.

Re: Chat Thread
Gaming-wise I got Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and some Amiibos (including that super cute Yarn Yoshi one). Otherwise, I got some Funko Pops (the X-Files ones are especially awesome), a new book (the GoT prequel novella thing) and some giftcard type stuff.
Coolest gift I gave was probably this yard sculpture type thing for my mom. It was this steampunk dragon thing that lights up that she wanted. It is pretty cool. I will have to take a picture of it.

Re: Chat Thread
I didn't get anything gaming related this year for Christmas. I got a lot of stuff for the house I just bought. It was a very adult-ass Christmas for me.
My favorite gift I gave was I framed an 8x10 picture of myself, my fiance and my mom when we were on a weekend trip in October. My dad was taking a picture of me and my fiance and my mom decided to photo bomb us. We were standing on a dock going out onto Green Bay... not the city, but the actual body of water... Anyway. While she lunged to get in the picture she slipped and almost fell in the water. My dad took the picture and perfectly captured her 'oh shit' face while trying to grab on to us to keep from falling in. When she opened it, the reaction was priceless. Definitely got a good laugh with my family.

Absolutely devastated about Bowie. I wasn't even the hugest Bowie fan, musically but I respected the man as an artist and as a person and the world is worse off without him.

Re: Chat Thread
WELP, now that it's been done officially I can say on the intarwebs that I quit my day job yesterday after accumulating a pretty nice nest egg. My day job was crazy and one of the weirdest jobs I will ever have but I'm glad to be moving on from it.
More excitingly me and the girlfriend are planning to move to Atlanta within the next few months to get back into creative stuff full time! Exciting times ahead!

That's an awesome cake. Speaking of quitting your job I think I'm a shoe in for a security guard position. Not quite what I want my career to be, but better pay and hours so I'll take it

Congrats Greenie! Where's the security position at? Do you think you'll stay or is it just a temporary thing?

Re: Chat Thread
Oh its just temporary. My job was just too gratimg on me between the awful hours and pay. Police or fireman is still my ultimate goal. They're still figuring out where to send me, there's a few places they dropped, most are reasonably close.
