News seems to be coming more steadily on this game so thought I'd make this thread. Some of the new Pokemon were shown off today. English names are still unknown:

Naughty Pokemon
Fighting

Robin Pokemon
Normal/Flying

Ride Pokemon
Grass

Generating Pokemon
Electric/Normal (Interesting)

I don't know about you guys, but I'm all over that first one. A fighting panda? Fuck yeah! Naming him Jack Black.

I'm really excited for this game so much, still undecided on which version I'll get. Also some new info for Sylveon, it is apparently strong against ice type pokemon but weak against poison and fighting types. Which could imply on being a new pokemon type.

Also for those with Pokemon Black and/or White version 2, you can get a lv. 100 Deoxys via Mystery Gift's wifi options.

Normal would be cool too, whatever it is, it looks cool. Was thinking, more like messing around for possible Eeveelutions and some of the names I came up with kinda suck:

Ghost type: Wispeon/Gouleon
Fighting: Champeon?
Poison: Nucleon/Nukeon (get it, like Nuclear or Nuke?)

I don't even think Mewtwo needed another form, he is already strong as he is and his design was fine. Curious to see if any other older pokemon will get new evolutions or pre-evolved forms.

As for Sylveon its name makes me think either Steel or Ghost, but it really doesnt look like it could be a Steel type at all. I really really want it to be Ghost.

Also Fisteon is the best name ever.

The name definitely implies Ghost most, but the design just feels Normal to me. I mean, almost every Pokemon that has pink as a main color in its character design has been Normal type, there are only a handful of exceptions like Slowpoke and Execute. I could see a new type which could shake up the MP more than any gen since R/S/E

New Pokemon X&Y trailer!

Diagonal movement. It's been 15 years, but we can finally move in more than 4 directions. Fuck yeah. Also the names to all the above Pokemon were released before they were officially announced today along with some much more interesting information. Normally I don't believe Pokemon rumors, but since it was right on that I'm more inclined to believe it.

Flying arenas sounds pretty damn awesome and I love the starter types if it's true. Fairy typing will definitely have a huge impact on the metagame and really shake up the dominance Dragon and Fighting types have had for a while. Really unsure about dual typed attacks though, could only see it working if neither has an immunity. Like, if it's something that would be 4x effective and immune, what the hell would happen?

Having a Fairy type would actually even out the types they have, and I'm interested to see how many Fairy pokemon there'll be and if any older pokemon will have a fairy/dual type thing. Dual type attacks could be interesting though, I mean having physical and special attacks was a pretty big game changer too. Like the elemental punches used to be special moves till gen 4 made them physical. Like maybe Muddy Water would be water and ground, maybe that's what they mean.

Also heard that Mewtwo will have 2 different forms, just hope it looks better than the one we have so far. Also EV Training will be easier. Liking the starters so far.

That's what I'm worried about with dual elemental attacks. What if Muddy Water would be used against say Gligar? Would it not work because of the Ground, would it just work partway? Because Water's supereffective against it, but the Ground would contradict that. Just seems to make things needlessly complicated, like with dual typings it's easy to get how it works because it's just one typing's effect against two. Two typings against two isn't as accessible as that and Pokemon's all about accessibility.

If that's Fairy typing's weaknesses and resistances, I'm all for Fighting getting a new weakness and Dragon getting something besides Steel that can take it. Steel weakness seems like it could unbalance that type though, they're already monsters defensively, don't see them needing another edge. Strong against Dark could be a little too much too, Fighting and Bug already seemed like perfect weaknesses for it.

As for EV training, I just want an online mode that copy and pastes Showdown. Let me have the six Pokemon I want, can't use them in the SP and battle people from there. Even let Nintendo make the tiers themselves.

I think it's immune it would still be immune like how a dual type pokemon has both an immunity and a weakness to a type its still immune to it. Charizard is immune to ground when fire is weak to it.

Damage seems to have kept a basic formula through out. STAB x1.5 Weakness x2 Resistance x2 Critical hit x2 Immunity x0

Immunity has always won out so far. Anything x0 is still 0

Yeah, still would be confusing though in this case. Like, it makes sense defensively because if a Ground move is used on Fire/Flying, it makes sense that the Flying makes it immune, it's in the air. But if a Water/Ground move is used, it's still being hit by Water. That's what's confusing me. Or say it's Thunderpunch against Drifloon. The Fighting would go through, but shouldn't it still feel that Electric when the punch goes through? Maybe I'm just overthinking, but I don't think Pokemon's basic mechanics should allow me to overthink.

Plus there's the whole thing with 16x Weaknesses. 4x Weakness is the perfect ceiling IMO, will KO almost every time unless it's really weak against really bulky. 16x just guarantees it no matter what, that feels like it's going too far.

i'd think they'd still just use the formula making immunity a 0x multiplier. but i do see what you mean. It's kind of confusing in a logical sense.

I'd pretty sure anything that could hit a 16x multiplier would either invoke massive penalties on the user or have low accuracy.

Maybe some dual type moves would also be types that would hit a lot of resistances but would hit anything not resistant/immune to it hard.

Another thing that bothers me is when you have a moveset, you want to create it for good coverage. Why bother with one of these dual typed attacks and have to account for all kinds of resistances when nine times out of ten you can just get two or three normal moves that cover pretty much everything you want and never have to overthink anything.

It just seems to make things complex in a bad way.
