Not sure how much activity this topic will get, but feel free to post some of your favorite lines from songs. Lyrics and vocals are at the top of song priorities for me, whether they're deep, clever, or thought-provoking. Post away and just be sure to list song, artist, album and any thoughts you may have on said lyrics.

"I miss the comfort in being sad."

Song - Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle
Artist - Nirvana
Album - In Utero

It would be unlike me to pick any other band to start off with. I find this particular line to be very true. Who hasn't been sad and then receive support and care from family and friends. I know I've just felt really sad at times and loved the feeling, I typically just like to be alone and listen to depressing music. Such a simple beautiful line.

Bob Dylan has at least one of these per song for me.

"I wish for just one time you could stand inside my shoes/You'd know what a drag it is to see you."-Positively 4th Street

"And don't criticize what you can't understand"- The Times are A'Changing

I also like the this line from "Stop Hey What's that Sound"

"Nobody's right if everybody's wrong"

Vietnam music had the best lyrics by far.

"Love is a curse shoved in a hearse
Love is an open book to a verse of your bad poetry
and this is coming from me" - I Can Change, LCD Soundsystem. We had facebook when I was in high school. Enough said

I drove my car into a cop car the other day
Well he just drove off, sometimes life's okay

Song - Float On
Artist - Modest Mouse
Album - Good News For People Who Love Bad News

Clever line, from one of the most clever album titles ever.

Good call bret

The universe is shaped exactly like the earth
If you go straight long enough you end up where you were
(Song - 3rd Planet)

If you could be anything you want I bet you'd be disappointed, am I right?
(Song - Lives)

Both Modest Mouse songs from The Moon and Antarctica

Moon and Antarctica is great. I love the second one a lot. My favorite song from that album is probably Stars Are Projectors, 8 minutes of epic.

Every lunatic must be well intentioned, sets himself apart he's an instrument of god. He took her from the playground to the farmhouse cellar, kissed her while he killed her like a good samaritan. They finally found her body many autumns after, interviewed her mother, said, "She'd now be 21. And although we lost her young, I know the good lord has a plan for all of us."

Song - Desert Island Questionnaire
Artist - Conor Oberst
Album - Upside Down Mountain

This verse is one of the most horrific lyrics I have ever seen and beautiful at the same time. I could have picked any verse from this six minute long song and they all would have been great. Conor Oberst is the best. His words paint fascinating pictures.

"Time was measured in balls of lint, laundry claim tags, number of cents it takes to drown your brain into a just-dowsed former fire."

Yonder Is Closer to the Heart by Parquet Courts on Light Up Gold. Was just listening to this album again and pretty much every song has great lyrics in one way or another.
