So there's some more family drama brewing for my wedding. My mom lost her brother this last summer (my Uncle Kevin, my cousin Nate will be in my wedding), and my Aunt Jaquita (yup, that's her name, she is my Uncle Kevin's wife) helps my mom out a lot because she lives next door to her. Well today I get on Facebook and this is the post that I see....

"Mike Baber is such an ASS!! He just told me I was sitting pretty good now that my husband died.....DOES HE NOT UNDERSTAND THE LOSSSSS!! He thinks I am debt free cuz I lost my husband...HE SAID THAT!!! The ONLY blessing in that loss is Kevin is no longer in pain!!! YOU KNOW HOW BAD I WANT TO HURT HIM!!! BBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!! But I won't."

My Uncle Kevin had muscular dystrophy and went through a lengthy battle with colon cancer. Now it is getting even more unlikely that I talk to my dad, let alone invite him or his side of the family to the wedding. Also got to see a lot of my mom's side of the family bashing my dad (which I don't blame them) under the comments. I literally think I have the worst family ever (I do like my mom and some of my cousins though).

That sucks, Bret. Sometimes you just gotta cut people off. When I was a teenager my sister came out as gay so my dad disowned her and my nephew and niece. I disowned him. Hopefully you can reconcile and don't have to be so drastic.

That sucks pspidddy. Who cares if someone is gay? How does that effect the lives that they live? Do you still not talk to your dad? Today I thought I'd man up and call him, and then I get on Facebook and read that. To be honest, I don't really care if I reconcile or talk to him, it's more just a nice gesture towards him. He hurt my mom and screwed her over, I personally don't have any desire to speak to him again.

Nah, I don't speak with him anymore. What he did to my sister and her kids was sort of the last straw. He dicked over my mom too so that's the holy trilogy for me. I honestly have zero interest in a relationship with a person like that. I still have love for him since he's my dad, but I don't surround myself with people like that lest they be punched in the face.

Looks as if we have similar situations/feelings towards our fathers. My dad thought only of himself, and continues to do so. My mom was always the one there for me any ways in life.

Sounds like a good band name.  But we live and die by the power chord.  I don't need any virtuoso shit.

I'm hesitant to say this because I don't want to seem like a dick, and I mean that in the core of my being, but I feel very lucky that my family turned out ok.

I know my mom and dad both had issues in their families (my uncle on my mother's side was disowned, my dad's mom and him grew pretty estranged), but I've been very lucky.

Sorry you guys have to go through so much shit, especially surrounding something so positive in your life Bret. But at the end of the day, wedding bullshit aside, you're getting married and that's still pretty great. So congrats again!

@T-Wolf - Yeah, it doesn't bother me talking about it on here and I'm happy upon hearing others have good families. I have a lot of family that I like, my dad is just really throwing a curve ball. You're supposed to get old with grace, and he's kind of acting like a child and doing really immature things. But I don't think you're a dick T-wolf, I'm glad that you have a good family. Besides a couple annoying people, I'm marrying into a cool family as well, and her mom reminds me a lot of my mom. Also, she doesn't have a dad because he was an abusive dick, so I don't have to worry about friending him!

Speaking of our awesome band... I always thought it would be really cool if HBO had a drama show following the rise of a band and all of the drama that goes along with it. HBO does drama, so I could only see it going well. Maybe when we hit it big we can do a live show on there like they used to have. I remember Bush and Hole playing on there in the late 90's.

No special plans, but I said "praise the lord" and looked to the heavens when I saw my schedule for Christmas week and realized I had Christmas Eve off as well as Christmas Day (I always have the day off, but it was nice to have them back to back). I'm sure I'll be going to party to party wishing I could stay at home, which always happens.

My parents sort of accept me. I mean i've kind of been the only one there for them after my brother pretty much abandoned then. They still insist i get married and raise a family though, and my mother was against me finding work. heh

Anyways i got two interviews today hopefully one of them will pan out. One with a grocery store and another with Pizza Hut.

These went well. There was small talk I made jokes. It was like talking to actual people. That McD's interview was so goddamn depressing. These were nice. I still got thing were i dont have any experience, but. I feel pretty good about myself after these.

@Twolf What I usually do every year on christmas eve is eat at home with my family, watch Transformers the Movie which is a tradition, and play a round of Melee and Double Dash on the cup with all the tracks with my bros before midnight.

So apparently Sony just launched a slimmer version of the PS Vita in Japan. IGN does a review/comparison of it on their website and it really makes me disinterested in any handhelds Sony has to offer because they're constantly doing this kind of thing. It's only a matter of time before they come out with an all new handheld, altogether. :p

Screw it. If I go handheld, I'm going 2/3DS.

I heard the new PSV wont have that OLED screen in favor of an extra hour of battery life. That's what I read when they first showed it. And yeah Nintendo does upgrade their handhelds but it's usually a step forwards like bigger screens or more portability. Not knocking on the PSV but how many want an extra hour of battery over the sexy looking screen?

You should really buy both. They are both great investments for a gamer and incredibly affordable. As with any budget you have to cut costs somewhere else to afford what you want. Bust out the Top Ramen for a couple of weeks and don't drive anywhere absolutely necessary and you'll have both. Seriously. When I unexpectedly had to deal with the monetary hit of the PS4 on launch, I made the decision to cut costs in other ways in order to keep my budget and savings intact. I haven't gone out to eat or been to a movie or anything since the launch and my finances are aces. Although I could really go for a burger or pizza right now...

The Vita OLED to LCD thing is a little disappointing but in no way should it deter you from buying an awesome system. Now, if anyone wants to bitch about proprietary memory count me in.
