The two games I'd like to see Square HD remake after Final Fantasy X would be Dragon Quest VIII and possibly Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. Oh DQ8, you're such a great game.

Dragon Quest VIII remastered would be beautiful. I've been watching Okami HD and that cell shaded style REALLY cleans up nice.

That's what I'd want, though I'm much more interested in them doing one for The Lion King. I always thought that was the much better game.
I'll probably snag up FFX also to see what the fuss is about. Then I'll probably play only part of it, get bored, and decide this series isn't for me like every other one so far except VII. Not saying VII wowed me, just that it was the only one I liked enough to beat.

You might like 10 its combat system is kind of unique as far as FF games go (its the only one since the NES games to not have ATBs), and its story isn't nearly as confusing as 8's. Pretty sure you'd hate Tidus though he is voiced by the same person who does Ratchet so that might help.

X-2 on the other hand I'd recommend you'd avoid X-2 as much as I love that game it's story is pretty fucking stupid and basically a bad fanservice anime

I was never planning on playing X-2. I'll play Assassin's Creed: Black Flag before that.

Nah, I won't do that when I'm expecting to hate it. The only other game that warranted that treatment was Crash Twinsanity and that was long before I started blogging.

I'd be down for a remake of Dragon Quest VIII. I would hope that Square Enix wouldn't make it a handheld exclusive though like they're doing with DQVII and the others. I don't really have much time to mess with handhelds anymore and I'd rather play it on my big-screen TV than a little handheld screen. I'd personally prefer FFXII over DQVIII for the HD treatment though. It'd be a bigger improvement on FFXII. Cel-shading does a better job of hiding lower-res imperfections and DQVIII would not be as big an improvement. I do hope they bring both games to PS3 or PS4 at some point. Or hell, I'd be down with DQVIII on the Wii U.

After seeing how good Totori+ looks on the Vita I'd really love to see DQVIII on it too. Cel shading looks amazing on the small screen. Surpised me how much better Totori looked on the Vita than on the PS3

I agree that DQ8 still looks great, but I enjoy the game more and that's the main reason I want it made. Getting trophies playing one of my favorite RPG games would just be a sweet icing on an already sugary delightful cake.

Also, I don't hate Final Fantasy X-2. The story is silly for sure, but I really enjoyed the battle system and loved the costumes. It was like a way better version of Final Fantasy V, which already had a really great battle system. Worth playing in my opinion.

X-2 is just such a fun game. Shut your brain off and just go with the silly style and you have a super enjoyable game. It's different from most FFs but it's one of my favorite battle systems.

I'm more excited to play FFX of course (that game defined a period of my life) but I'm super glad that X-2 is in there too. I wonder what the trophies will be like. Hopefully it's two plats.

Darn tootin' Neph. To me it is no different than Persona, they both have some weird shit going on. Except with X-2 the battle systems are really fun. I remember just running around getting more and more points to unlock more abilities for those costumes. Also, Rikku just looks super cute in them. My biggest complaint with that game is that they ditched Lulu in favor of Paine. That was a bummer.

He's got that cool Something About Mary hair though, it's probably how he won her over. Lulu was my favorite from X, and considering X-2 was an all girl romp I was sad that she wasn't included.

Paine > Lulu

She had an interesting past. and backstory that gave X-2 a bit more of a serious feel amongst all the goofy shit which I liked. She adds more character to the game imo. Her hair was gorgeous and she had a better ass too

Watching that GDC FFX/X-2 trailer made me tear up. Man I love that game. I know I've said this a million times but the FFX theme was our wedding march song so I can't handle listening to it without a tear.

Oh, Lulu....

I played the first 10 min. of X-2 and quit. People have tried to convince me to give it another go but I just couldn't. If I get the HD remake of X, maybe I'll give it a whirl again.

X-2 is incredibly fun to play. The story is kind of bizarre, but to me it is no different than the bizarreness you'll find in a Persona game.

I'd disagree with that statement...though I'm too tired to particularly back it up. But Persona is more focused on modern culture but in a more realistic light...the weirdness in it is more going for abstract "in your face" weird, the kind you'd find in a modern art gallery whereas FFX-2 is just...weird because it's like "hey, let's just turn this into bubblegum pop". Which is fine...I mean it is a spin off it's just like some fanfiction writer somehow swapped out the script that was on the boss' desk and no one noticed until the game was finished.

It might not be as weird, but X-2 has a way better battle system. Persona 4 almost feels like I have no control over the outcome, which is a shame.

I had some strange problems with missing a lot in 3. I'd go ages without missing at all, then at one point I'd miss 5 times in a row against normal enemies that had no buffs at all. And I was playing on easy. I played 4 on normal and I only had these problems when fighting golden hands or enemies with buffs, so it actually made sense.
