Re: Anticipated Games
I certainly couldn't feel this weapon weight when I played it, it all just felt like water pistols especially when compared to Killzone 2. When games start throwing +50XP LEVEL UP SERGEANT OF THE MASTER SERGEANTS EXTREME TO THE MAX all over your screen (Because who actually needs to see what you're doing when you can just be mindlessly rewarded, based skinnerboxes) for doing the basic parts of a game, my interest in lost (Not across all genres, but once it's in a shooter my interest drops completely which is why I don't really play them anymore). Killzone 2 gave you a little green +1 in the very corner of your screen for getting a kill, it was wonderful.BretBaber wrote:I disagree with everything about this. If you're implying they made it like COD, you couldn't be more wrong. Because you got points for killing someone and the weapons controlling better ruined the game? They still had weight. You should still kill the enemies. If they gave you more points for killing someone as opposed to completing the objective then I would agree with you, but they don't. It's just a few minor points in the bigger picture. I've always played the game with the goals/objectives in mind, and my cousin that is of the COD mindset doesn't get/understand the game, and he finishes last on the team with almost no contribution. The weapon weight/points for a kill take nothing away from the formula that is still the same as KZ2.Rainjar wrote:
"Hey guys, why don't we take all of good stuff out from the second one and make it more like them Cawadoody instant gratification shooters that everyone like these days. Take away that satisfying weight the weapons had, slap some 50+ points all over the screen, yeah nice."

I completely forgot about Wonderful 101 D:
I'll be curious what you think of it though, Greenman. But I still need to catch up and get Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends first.

I loved the demo. Switching weapons was a little awkward, but the puzzles, use of the gamepad, and action was so much damn fun I didn't care. Plus one of their superheroes was based on beer. Why hasn't this ever been a thing? The closest we've ever had is Duffman

Re: Anticipated Games
Well you'll be happy to hear that they took out all XP from multiplayer in the new Killzone game for PS4. Couldn't tell you how heavy the weapons are though, probably depends on Vekta's gravity.

Re: Anticipated Games
Yet every time I look at any gameplay there's still stupidly high numbers popping up in the middle of the screen for taking a breath. Still dead to me.
Re: Anticipated Games
Is anyone picking up GTA5 today? It looks so much better than 4 to me but I don't trust reviewers with Rockstar games at all.

i want the game at some point, but I'm gonna wait on it. Pre-house/wedding I would have bought it, but now it has to wait.

Re: Anticipated Games
I have always just borrowed GTA games from my brother. I'm not even sure he is going to get it, let alone when he'd finish it so I could borrow it. Looks really cool to me. Might have to get it myself I guess.
Re: Anticipated Games
I'm thinking the exact same thing Aja. Having a heist play such a big role is especially tempting. But I spent $60 on 4 and felt so ripped off. Then Rockstar did nothing to win me over except maybe Undead Nightmare while critics have insisted everything they make deserves 10's and 9.5's. Plus I'm holding out hope for a PS4 version when they inevitably reveal the PC one.

Re: Anticipated Games
Yeah GTAV is certainly out.. The launch at my store was pretty crazy. Of course there was almost one fight too (just a crazy lady yelling at the poor nerdy kids behind her to stop breathing down her neck lol).
Never played any of those games myself.

I'll side with old lady, I wouldn't want anyone breathing down my neck either.
Choco, if you play one I'd suggest a PS2 one to start with. Never played San Andreas, but I'd start with Vice City.

Hell yeah, Phoenix Wright 5 comes out October 24th. I know me and maybe Killa are the only ones really excited for it, but I freaking love these games.

Re: Anticipated Games
I second this. Vice City is still my favorite GTA. Very humorous and the best soundtrack in the series. SA had too much extraneous crap although it had an interesting setting, and GTA 4 was boring as hell.BretBaber wrote:I'll side with old lady, I wouldn't want anyone breathing down my neck either.

I recommend just skipping GTA entirely and playing Saints Row 3 and 4 instead. They are so fucking stupid and ridiculous. SR4 gives you super powers too.SanAndreasX wrote:I second this. Re: Anticipated Games
Just Cause 2 lets you do stupid shit with a grappling hook. It's still the best sandbox game

Re: Anticipated Games
I prefer GTA: San Andreas to both, but it has all kinds of issues itself (the lock-on is kind of a mess and the old way GTA handled retrying missions/lack of checkpoint thing). My experience with Just Cause 2 was weird. I couldn't get the hang of the controls at first, but when I did it was amazing. The grappling hook is so cool and fucking around in the open world is awesome, but the repetitive missions eventually got to me and I shelved it. Saint's Row 3 was solid, but never really blew me away like it did some here. I really wish it had a better map. I think that is a big part of what makes a sandbox game great to me and why San Andreas is my favorite of this style of sandbox game.
Re: Anticipated Games
Saints Row is just too weird for my taste. I'm still gonna try a bit more of it, but I don't like whacky weird games.

I bet I'd like Just Cause 2 more. My favorite is probably GTA3 or Vice City. For those that haven't played it, Vice City Stories on PSP was really good.

Re: Anticipated Games
Yeah, I kind of felt that when I played Saints Row 3. Like it was yelling at me going "LOOK AT HOW WHACKY THIS GAME IS" instead of just...giving you whacky tools and letting the whackyness happen. I don't know, I'll pick it up again at some point but it didn't grip me.

Re: Anticipated Games
The gameplay might be more fun than GTA 4, but I'd pick GTA4 for the seriousness over Saints Row. Dildo bats don't do anything for me. I'd rather hit someone with a real bat.
